Additional notes:

Every last building and object was carefully analyzed to find the most suitable SC4 replacement.

All of the textures were created from scratch to match those of the actual plaza itself.

Appomattox Court House – SimCoug

"The Appomattox Court House was the location where General Lee signed the surrender of his Army of Northern Virginia during the American Civil War.  I created this image ages ago for a CJ entry and I thought it would be a perfect fit for this competition (hopefully it can still be entered).  I was inspired by this photograph while making this recreation, which was taken around the time of the surrender."

Andrew's Fashion Centre – nos.17

"A bigger and better version of the largest (ft2-wise) CS$$$ building in the game."

Utilizes CP's seasonal trees, custom textures, and was designed to be easily compatible and expandable with KOSC's modular parking sets.

Willmott Widget Assembly Remastered – MushyMushy

"This was always one of my favorite Maxis industrials because it looks pretty decent, however its vanilla lots did it no justice at all!"

I present to you Willmott Widget Assembly Remastered! WWA has been remade into a stage 3 I-M Anchor lot (instead of an Outbuilding) and had some of its stats tweaked slightly so it is more-or-less on-par with other Maxis I-M Anchors of similar size.

The lot features almost entirely custom-made props by me, which includes a perimeter fence, long-haul trucks, employee and company cars, as well as some inner-city semi trucks. The props have been made to appear more "natural" - people are not always very compelled to park perfectly! I also used a technique to make props that sit in the shadows of the two buildings actually have shadows. Something I've always hated about props in this game is how they are not affected by shadows, so I more-or-less circumvented that issue. Lastly, the props included with this set are 100% compatible with various darker-night mods because they have no lighting effects (normal for props).

This lot also has a fully custom base texture set. Also, before someone comments about it, the lot has so many large-ish empty areas because the long-haul trucks and the inner-city trucks need space to maneuver. American semi trucks are not known for having very good turning radii!

This locale of Pawtucket Mills has seen better days, but the factories around here still produce mechanical equipment for use in other industrial applications. While many industries have switched to ship their freight by truck, these plants still proudly send out the bulk of their product over rail, as evidenced by the active sidings and railyard."

Now I have a question, how much, if at all, does the number of votes affect ranking? I ask this because looking through the spreadsheet, for some rounds the number of votes per entry differs by as much as 20 (29 vs19 I think was one example). I know there is little to be done on the gallery software, but if this does impact ranking, it surely isn't fair?

Anyway, great work from the challenges team, looking forward to the rest of the season!

Although it's had a visual makeover since then, the ranking formula is explained in this topic.

Basically, it works like this:

• Rating value, highest to lowest.
• If the rating is tied, an entry with more votes is placed higher.
• As seen in the stats panel, there is a 'baseline' figure for votes. In order to rank normally, this is the minimum # of votes any entry must have. Otherwise it'll be added to a second rank, moving it lower down the order.
• There is also a 'baseline' for the rating. Entries must reach this or they'd rank below those outside of the voting baseline, if one exists.

For example from Night Scenes, entries needed at least 18 votes (75% of the average of all entries combined, rounded). The entry with 19 votes, was submitted late, but just managed to receive enough votes to reach the baseline. Otherwise, in this instance, it'd have ranked 21st. The entry with 9 votes didn't get to this mark. However, it ranked above the entry with 2.52, because this was less than the rating baseline (2.57).

So in other words, votes only matter to reach the 'baseline' figure, or to separate ties between duplicate ratings.

The ranking order in the Gallery isn't accurate, which is why such a system was developed in the first place.
