I had a quick look, noticed the ploppables dont have a custom icon. I made one for you, also to remind myself how to do them lol.

    here: icon_firestation.png.20f104d4190bf9f6cbe9e78ccf758112.png

This is the icon base I use in Photoshop:

    icon_base.psd

First select the part of the image you want as a square, paste in new window and resize to 44x44 pixel. Then create a rounded square selection with corner radius 5 pixels. Paste the image into the icon base. The left image is greyscale. To import into your BAT the easiest is to use Darkmatter´s EasyTweaker (in DatGen). You just select the icon a resave.

I can do some further testing on the lots after the weekend

@Jasoncw: Thanks, I am for now at least...

    ***

I've updated my pack, the custom icons should now be there.

There seems to be a tie between the CS$$ Pack Limeño 1 and the ID/IM Pack Brasileiro 1. I'll close the poll tomorrow afternoon -- around 19:00 GMT. If there are no additional votes to break the tie, then I'll just flip a coin and choose a pack randomly.

    Edit:

    Poll Results:

    CS$$ Pack Limeño 1: 6 votes -- WINNER.

    ID/IM Pack Brasileiro 1: 4 votes

    R$$ Pack Capitalino 1: 1 vote

Don't know what you think, but you can take the opportunity when modeling buildings from Lima, and to add the Stock Exchange building. It would be a 2x2 mid rise, which is fully into the pattern of works you've done. The possibility here is to mod its lot to be used as a replacement for the Maxis' Stock Exchange, more suitable for W2W environments.

@matias93 I had a look at it and I must say that it would be quite a challenge for me to model it; I'm not sure I'd be able to actually BAT it myself. If I choose to do it, I would need some sort of guidance or help from more experienced batters. Also, such a building deserves its own release, IMO, and would not be included in any pack.

Congratulations on being doubly featured on the STEX! I just noted it and think is a much deserved recognition to your great work. Keep your quality rising as fast as now and you'll soon become a classic creator on your own...

That's a good-looking building! I find it impressive that your BATs have consistently high quality. Keep up the great work :thumb:

It all looks great! The last one really stands out (in a good way) to me. :thumb:

I think something I like about Latin American buildings is it seems like so many of the smaller buildings are colorful (like how these buildings are yellow). I'm usually looking at American or Japanese cities which seem to be quite dull color-wise... lots of greys and in American cities lots of old brick. It's not that I mind dull colors at all but it's a nice change of scenery to see these!

Great model! You totally nailed the original. :) The dark green of the balconies swallows some of the detail, though. I think that green could use some desaturation, and maybe also a bit more brightness (but mainly desaturation). SimCity mimics a predominantly sunny day, so the right wall in the RL photograph is closer to the game palette than the wall facing the street, which is in the shadows. In fact, I think using the eye dropper on the RL photograph should give you a good idea of the colour hues to use for the balcony.

I love the detail you put into all of these little gems, and it's great to follow this thread and see how you put more of Latin America on the map of SimNation.

@rathefalcon Thank you, I do hope to improve my level little by little!

@MushyMushy Thanks! Colors abound in Lima (and other latin american cities too), but sometimes they go overboard with the colors, and combined with a poor taste in architectural styles, you get monstrosities here and there :P. That's why I appreciate a lot the austerity in American cities, like Washington DC, for instance.

@T Wrecks Thanks! Hm, yes, the green texture could be changed as you said.

Although SC4 may be in the end of its natural life cycle, I will certainly add more stuff in the near future. Too bad I didn't start batting consistently earlier!

@Gn_leugim That one is actually 10m wide, but yes, I was planning of making 8m x Xm buildings. I've checked and there are many such buildings in Buenos Aires. ;)

8 +10 is 18m, too wide for a single 1tile w2w lots, but if you release them as separate models one could do that, if you know what I mean :P

If you didn't say the mistake I wouldn0t notice, the model is nice, simple and at the same time detailed, well balanced in color/saturation. the usual :P

@Gn_leugim Thanks! I'm working on a small 6m wide building that will go together with the 10m wide building, so no problem there.

Edit: Made a mistake and created a window instead of a door above the balcony...Will fix this later.

Oh! Don't worry dude! If you had not said, I would not have noticed it.

I think that house is amazing. I recommend you if you have an idea about that you should illuminate the facades from floor. I don't know if that kind of work is easy but it surely looks gorgeous and more touristic area. In Oaxaca, Mexico many houses at principal streets are scenically illuminated during nights. They are looks great and your works are amazing, they deserve scenic illumination.

I hope when I can create an amazing building like yours, I can illuminate them as I told you! ;D great job dude! Keep it up!

@Jorginho Ochoa Thank you! With you, there are already two people who didn't notice this mistake...I could've simply ignored it haha, but I've already fixed it now.

I must confess that I'm too lazy to implement more detailed nitelites :P , partly because I never play using the night time mode. It's a nice idea to have the facades illuminated as you've mentioned, but for now, I think standard maxis nitelites will do just fine. However, I will definitely keep in mind your suggestion for larger/more important models, such as town halls, churches etc, in the future.

Ok, almost done with this pack now. Here are some in-game pics:

    - The benches, trees and kiosk are part of the LBT mega prop pack

    - For the large corner building, the green wooden balconies are now less saturated and a bit brighter.

    - I will add one more color for the two non-corner buildings

    - I think the awnings look ok, but might be a tad bit too saturated, what do you think?

I'm enjoying this ones a lot! Just some inconsiderate (but hopefully constructive) critics, sorry:

    • The big building with the balconies would look better if accompained by a smaller building of its same height, specially when trying to create continous facades (this is, not only seamless in depth from the street axis, but also block-like in the buildings' general volume). As they are separate models, this can perfectly wait until you eventually revisit Lima with a new building pack.
    • On the same building, the cornise looks too white, particularly comparing it with the roof, but this is perfectly justifiable if we are supposing the entire building is newly painted, which in fact seems to be (as opposed to the RL one, which has a mixed painting)
    • Instead of the saturation or the cleanliness of the awnings (which is understandable by them being new and plastic), the problem I think of is that the logos are too much wrapped up, pointing mainly upward. While this makes the trademark more recognizable from the point of view of the player (or to someone from a third floor on the building at the other side of the street), it could look somewhat weird from the street itself. Is up to you to decide if the logos should be easier to see to a pedestrian or the game user.

Oh, and about the awnings, they look very useful for other uses too. Maybe it could be a good moment to begin a prop pack (lets say 'Adrianor Essentials', maybe?), and to distribute the 3D file to allow other users to create more props with different logos (I'm thinking specifically on what @pclark06 is doing with @rsc204 convenience stores).

Overall, this is just excellent material, a totally obvious outcome of your fine work. Keep this way!
