Working on a new city using the island of Barbados map.  This is a shot of the government area of Lindsey (WIP), the northern most region of Pendraga.

I'm hunting for more civic buildings to fill in the rest of the area.  Constructive criticism is always welcome.  Plus anyone wanting to give me a little advice on how to post pics, please feel free.

Current project: The city of "Kottingen". This part of the city is where the motorway goes around it; with a research center on the hill to the left. There is still more to be done, for instance, motorway lights will be constructed in the center of the highway. But things are in progress.

Working on...a BAT! Should be on the STEX in the next 24 hours, just have to finish building a few things and redo a few textures.

Yep, that's the idea. Also going to make it with a CFL surface for the Canadians.

Seriously...

I'm doing a test render of it in a few minutes, so with any luck it'll still be released today. I've been needing something like this for a few of my college campuses, but had been dreading trying to make it. Every new BAT I make has more detail and is better than the last, so it takes a ton of time sunken into it. (Looking back now, some of my earlier stadiums were trash)

So after I finished that shipyard, I moved on to the airport tile.  I have no idea of what I'm doing.  And I'm missing some parts like the gate-leadout lane conversion pieces.  The Show me your Aiports2 thread has been quite helpful, but man is it confusing!

Heres the first attempt

Progress shot 1.  Let me know if I'm doing something wrong so that I can fix it before I get too much farther.  I hope to have this finished by Thursday the latest. :)

Progress Shot 2. I wanted a pair of diagonally crossing runways, but it seems as though those aren't out yet.  There are 35 gates, which should be the right size for my current region.

And now we're here. Finished the taxiways and now I just need to develop the cargo plane area and I can call the airport done. Then I'll work on the surrounding area, like parking garages and a tiny bit of commercial development near the freeway. Then I'll have to work on the two adjacent city tiles so that I can get the proper lengths of the runways.

Working on an Olympic Sculling Venue in Lot Editor. Still a work in progress. And there are buoys, they just don't show up at this zoom level. A follow up picture will be posted soon.

Edited: Added some closer up photos of the seating and track sections. (Also added a teaser of an equestrian venue I just started tonight :D

This is nice. Where did you get the seats and field from?

Its not to scale in terms of real life airports but here is what I'm working on. This is Ressenburg-Clarkstone International Airport located in my Commonwealth region.

newyorka: The seats are from this prop pack: some of the props don't show up, and I haven't had the time to fiddle with them in reader. The field is just a maxis texture, with some SPAM and various fence and tree props added in. All in all, for the sculling venue there are about 75 props, and for the Equestrian, about 142.

heres my new region im working on. A total of 6 cities right now. So far it has all the transportation simcity 4 has to offer. Monorail running thru the left side, north, and part of the east side of the region.Along with a tree branch shape subway system. Elevated rail takes care of the south half of the city all the way down to the harbor. Passenger train provided in all the cities build so far. Highways circle the downtown and will cover the region to the other sim states.  My planned downtown is to the north where the river is ending. 5 of the cities consist of low wealth, the city to the south more mid wealth. City to the left, is a beach city all high wealth favored. West and north of downtown will have mostly mid and high wealth citizens. Let me know if you wanna see a close up of anything

Having had to restart my city a complete reorganization of my plug-in files, I'm currently working on a major marina project.

This area being developed is the large bay to the right in this picture.

And here is the start of the marina. Obviously there is little development around it, but the marina is the starting point for a developer-planned mixed-use community.

Just something I've been working on. Trying to learn (and make stuff as amazing as I see here... one day...) Of course, it has been photo edited to give it effects (fog, reduced saturation) but I'm looking for advice in general in how to improve it (including but not limited to mods and bats that are reccomended). My goal is a realistic feeling but I don't think I've quite gotten near achieving that.

Well either way, one step onto hopefully making my first CJ. :D

First post on the simtropolis forums, whoo!

Pretty nice start so far! Photoediting gives a nice eerie feeling.

Since you asked, two recommendations:

  1. The avenue could be smoother. Download a slope mod. Also what's up with the double entrance to the avenue on the north side? One street connection would be sufficient realistically.
  2. Although PEG pines are okay, I find them rather bland personally. I would recommend Girafe's trees, of which include firs, coastal pines, ash, lindens and just about anything else.

Best of luck! Will love to see your next works.

Thanks a ton, I'll try doing that. I'm still confused as heck with the barrage of mods... I'll get there maybe I guess. The point about the street double connections also - never really thought about that but you're definitely right. :thumb:

I am making a custom region one square at a time. As you can see it's an archipelago. I still haven't smootheed the terrain or added trees. I am using reconcile edges to give my region an organic look. However the city borders are visible and they look somewhat "blocky". And yes, I have turned off visible city borders in the region menu. I have already created several islands and attols that are not visible in this picture; it is an image from several days back. Any suggestions to improve my region?

The border lines are black, please do not confuse them with roads...

Light green: R$

Darker green: R$$$

Blue: C$$$

Yellow: HT

Red lines: Highway

Attempt for my first monorail as a fast way around town

Trying to create this type of grid. I think the colors speak for themselves. And this time i can use NAM with it, the last time i installed NAM i just installed an update of it, instead of the whole package ... not a smart move

I think i`m starting with building the infrastructure first, and then slowly start with medium density on the inside.

Any tips/suggestions from anyone would be great, maybe someone already did this before?

I`ll show you bits of the progress.
