I’m done with the two floor variations and now have to move on to the one floor ones. It’ll be a little bit. I am looking at over 150 different building models for this pack.

that’s gonna be epic!

I've got an interesting request (hopefully it can go here):

I'd like to have a lot set more than an individual lot, with the following:
-blank lot
-cost: $0
-bulldoze: $0
-income: $0
-expense: $0
-dependencies: none

sizes:
-1x1
-2x2
-5x5

if possible, I'd like it to have a translucent white "texture" much like we get with the zones in game, and it should act a bit like the industrial zones, where there's no darker edges or arrows to them.

The reason for this is so that we can mark things off in the game, without having to rely solely on signs and labels, as the labels have a tendency to disappear when doing various kinds of work around them.

Other sizes can be made to, such as 3x3 and 10x10 (probably the 10x10 would be best), as that can help with covering different sized areas.

If possible, I'd like for them to be at the top of say the Landmarks menu, but, I'm aware that getting stuff sorted out properly is much easier said than done.

Note: it can probably be other colors such as red, or even the older SC2K/3K colors of cyan/purple; but I figured white would show up the easiest, since you're not trying to get the colors to match up with everything.

You can call them Reserved Lots or something similar, since that's their purpose in life. I have no idea how to do any of this, as I'm having trouble with a fairly simple lot I was trying to edit; otherwise, I'd gladly do it myself and post it for everyone to use.

I recommend this set-

Get rid of the High Tech lots that come with it, as the base textures are all mis-matched. Very easy to edit in LE, costs nothing, and I use it to make all sorts of things. I have it in several sizes, 4x4, 6x6, 1x5, etc.

i pulled a 1x1 tile section from the modular truck stop mod. you may find the mod has other options. my 1 tile has 40 jobs with it, but i do think there are blank fillers too. the space is useful to create jobs for plop mod that had none.

@nos.17 that is absolutely incredible! yes, that's perfect, that'll work for me

tbh, i had completely forgotten about this thread (was busy with other stuff).

I'm thankful for the other suggestions, though, the idea was to basically make a blank "zone". I suggested industrial, because it would closely match my preference, vs what the residential and commercial zones had, which is that they need to be facing a road. I didn't want any evidence that it was anything other than a blank "zone", as this would work well for marking out areas as needed, without spending tons of money, and losing labels, or having signs everywhere.

@nos.17 I'm very grateful for the fact that you made it terrain conforming as well, cause that was something i had completely forgotten about.

I´m using very much diagonal fillers like these and others:

I don´t know how to edit lots by myself (I´m playing on a mac with limited access to pc hardware - and even without knowledge about installing sc4 and the needed tools on a pc.....), so I would appreciate if anybody could create the following additions:

Concrete overhanging fillers (I-M an I-HT texture) like in these picture from that filler set:

DFS_3.jpg.ec1bd2bf5a3d93dcbd225cb4a8b73b1f.jpg.53510b4635d3f88644f941d98099b206.jpg

I´m missing mostly the following:

Half - Half_L/_R  - X2 Half

Additionally diagonal fillers half concrete I-M/ I-HT and the other half low wealth gras. I don´t have any idea how much work this would be, but if anybody could find the time for this I would appreciate it a lot!

 Thx in advance!

I'm assuming you are talking about compatibility with the IRM fillers? I believe the "concrete" option of this overhanging filler set covers actually both the I-M and I-Ht set-up, but the I-D texture for IRM is coming either from the SFBT Essentials or from the NCD Rail Yard Textures (I'm not sure which one) and support for that one is not included, maybe @rsc204 would consider expanding the set with an IRM compatible I-D set.

Filler set Set-up.jpg

I understand you are on Mac so you might not be able run the installer, but then if you extract the exe with some tool, find the followign file MGB Overhanging Filler Lots Concrete.dat. And of course you need this file from the same package: MGB S3D Props.dat. I believe that should cover it.

I think I have asked @rsc204 already about this some times ago. The concrete fillers in this set just contain these two lots:

  • Concrete (both $$ & $$$)
    • Half Tile Diagonal Filler
    • 2 Tile Extender

Apart from these I use already grunge concrete overhanging fillers (i think from paeng) and of course the IRM and SFBT Fillers.

I would like to extend industrial areas like these towards diagonal rail or roads with the same textures as on the lots:

BTW: As you see I don´t like the dirt rail texture (can´t remember which mod that is....)

Indeed the concrete sets, like every texture except sidewalks, contains a smaller set of lots.

However, every S3D variant for each texture style is included as models/props.

So you can just make new lots using the props if you want more options.

If you’ve custom textures in play you can either override one of the current textures to match it, or create a custom set of S3D/Prop Exemplars. Just copy what you need, re-ID everything with a unique ID. Don’t forget to change the relevant properties in the Exemplars to match. Then change the Texture ID in the S3D files. It’s not all that hard really. Yes I could have included every conceivable option, but I think beyond a certain point, it’s on users to put in a bit of effort if they want things a specific way.

Ps, I-D was deliberately omitted, because my SAM11 textures (technical reasons) can’t support them, and I replaced it with the I-M textures for IRM lots. So I never use it myself.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

@Brad here you go - you'll still need the model files from the original download.

For other barracks, you might have a look at SNM stuff once it is restored at SC4E.

You might also want to check in this-

There might still be some survivors of the "Great Link Massacre of 2023" as it shall forever be known. Also, I do believe there are some quanset huts floating around as lots and props in

https://community.simtropolis.com/files/category/35-mtp-mountain-theme-pack/

Only a five page deep dive so not too labor-intensive.

@Brad

Yo, guy --

Not sure what time period your looking for -- but the US Army used something similar to this way up into the 1970's......

These were re-purposed from -- I believe -- "Morgankirk's Organ Works" lots.

You can generally find a building that will suit your purposes -- but it does take a bit of searching.

Hope this helps......

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Is it a big effort and is anybody able to produce a silencer like this:

but for killing the sounds of fountains, ships (like ferries and cruise ships) and waterpumps/ water treatment plants?

I´m on the old 32bit Mac Version of the Game and these sounds create annoying loops when starting the simulation. Only solution is (and sometimes even that does not work) to load a city tile, zoom in an area far away from any lot creating these sounds and hope the best....

Maybe there will be some more sound-effects with these issues, but atm these are the ones I identified mor or less.

THX!

Do lots exist (or can be made) of modern data centers? These are popping up all over the place in some parts of the U.S., yet I see no SimCity 4 lots modeled after them.

I would also like to see what's the best collection of suburban homes and townhomes, particularily modeled after those found in the Mid-Atlantic. I am curious to see if there are takes on the "craftsman" style popular in the past decade, but I wouldn't mind anything from the past 75 years to add to my collection.

Great lot, although it doesn't quite fit the real world. At least there's a prime opportunity to model some real data centers.
