I searched for the Demo on Google and found it that way. I can't state where though since the original site is gone.

It doesn't help that much, but I'll look for it. I hope it wasn't a site where you had to pay for it.

Who needs CityScape for multiway interchanges, anyway. :P

A 9-way not-to-be-taken-too-seriously double roundabout interchange which has been laying around on my disk since a while:

9way_doubleRoundabout.jpg

This 10-way interchange could be easily expanded to 12-, 14-, or more ways. Although, performance may further degrade up to a standstill in the roundabouts the more branches you add. At least, there is no weaving. :D

10way_ns.jpg

And just for fun, I'm gonna throw in two additional pictures showing some 6-way full interchanges. First, a solution with 2 interleaved highways:

6way_100805_paths.jpg

Another one with 2 highways running parallel at the interchange:

6way_parallel_big.jpg

Have fun :D

This is my first real attempt at using the Highway mod thingy. This is a 4 way interchange idea to remove all weaving. The circle around it allows for entering and exiting any of the highways Without the circle, the interchange can be much smaller (in terms of width).

I got the idea from a diverging diamond interchange. I just began drawing ways it could be improved until I came up with this:

McDuell: Nice interchanges! The second one is my favorite.

Boclucky: I think you actually could shrink that interchange now, I notice your diamond is pretty 'stretched'. Of course you don't want it too thin so vehicles can stay up to speed, but it can definitely be shrunk. I like the power line running through the center, adds some asymmetrical interest. I also noticed you have mounds between roads...put some trees and barriers on there and it'd look even better!

How many of these wacky interchanges are or plan to be used on genuine SimCities, rather than for sandbox showdowns?

I can't speak for others, but my interchanges are generally 100% sandboxed. I practically don't play the game anymore. Whenever I start the program, it's mainly for the purpose of designing, which can be seen clearly on the picture of one of my typical regions. (By now, I've filled about 8 regions of about this size just with interchanges and intersections) :P

That picture just blew my mind. Most large interchanges are sandboxed, although I used to have a 5 way that made up of 2 trumpets and a diamond interchange (I'm counting that as 1 way, not two) in one of my cities, fully functional.

I make my interchanges more like roundabouts, that way you can come and go from any direction.

Probably just like this.

tickarton4.jpg

Someone coming from 7 can't go eastwards on 5, however.

S.bound on 16/M56 can't head east on 7 either. Wasn't trying to nitpick, BTW. I like what you did.

Where did you get that map mod showing the RHW!? Or is it that you took the time to highlight all of the ramps and carriageways with some other tool?

its buggi's extra cheats mod found here.

just unzip it to your plugins folder, run the game, press crtl+ x, right click the bar, select "draw paths" and press enter [ it shows you the direction of which way traffic has to travel ]

sorry for going off topic

I'm afraid you're wrong guys. Usually, you cannot see the RHW in the region view, it was an unsolved bug until some months ago, when somebody created a mod to make RHW visible in region view. You can find it here [link]. It makes RHWs appear drawn in black, I guess the user has just painted them green... Just an speculation, though.

My understanding is that the Cityscape demo was available in small numbers for an extremely limited amount of time, and you had to find just the right websites to get it. I doubt you can still get it. Of course, you can buy the full professional engineer's software version for a wallet-tickling $19,000!

Might as well show this one...

i10castatehwy62intercha.jpg

It was an old attempt at recreating the Redlands Freeway Twentynine Palms Highway Interchagnge.

And before you say, "This thing's terrible; You should use FlexFly and MIS WRCs", this was made using RHW Version 3, which was when I started using RHW. (Also, I edited the image to be this way.)

I should redo it, don't you think...?

Excellent job. I live about 10 miles from there, and that looks pretty accurate. Good luck putting San Jacinto and Big Bear in there, though.

I got the demo a week ago, but it took 3 days to find. I don't know how the morality of downloading illegally a free product, but since pixelactive no longer has a clause stating redistribution is illegal on their website and I'm not stealing money from the company by getting the demo instead of the full product, I don't feel wrong about owning it.

As long as you don't plan to redistribute it for profit, I don't think there's a problem.

Mind posting a link?

Not exactly very exciting, but hey, it fits the interchange category. :)

i3xtw2.jpg

It's not a complete interchange because of limited space. Traffic routinely crossed the bridge westbound and turned onto the avenue southbound, and the intersection was jamming up, so I added some OWR ramps to ease congestion.

Here's another one of mine in an industrial center. It was formerly two avenues, two OWRs, and a whole mess of FLUPs before I upgraded the bridge to an elevated highway.

Not a single tile spared for industry! :P

In response to who needs cityscape.... if it was ever affordable we would all have it... especially the road and highway connoisseurs flyover ramps at any level is the absolute
