Nice you have the new RHW, but I know a way to make that cloverleaf a lot smaller and smoother...

rothfurtrothfurtherkreu.jpg

Notice the smooth curves at the clover leaf-ramps and the diagonal right-turn ramps. Looks a lot smoother, right?

Best,

Maarten

This monster here took me a REALLY long time, and was so complex I first had to draw a diagram for it! It is the interchange between I-12 (Heading horizontally), a currently unnamed tollway (heading vertically, below the interchange), and two one-way roads that lead into downtown (Heading vertically, above the interchange)

donnovancityjan40012981.png

Overview of the interchange (Next picture shows what was cut off from this image)

donnovancityjan40012981.png

What was cut off from the first pic. Now for a few close-ups:

donnovancityjan40012981.png

donnovancityjan40012981.png

Ignore the texture glitch

donnovancityjan40012981.png

Easily the most complex part.

These were taken before I added the decorations, soundwalls, light towers, and development. I think I kinda crushed my rule with compact interchanges here 18.gif

Lightning, your first pic looks almost exactly like the layout of the I-45 south/I-610 interchange in Houston. Really nice.

Here is a spaghetti style interchange that takes vehicle traffic from the main land onto the new Palm Jebel Ali Crescent.

@AIX: Great interchange design, and I can't wait to see what the artificial islands look like when you've completed them!

@NTM: I feel sorry for the poor drivers who have to commute there every day.:D Also, is that you're attempt at an interchange without using RHW? 'Cause you did a good job there.

Here I present you a cloverstack interchange of modest dimensions (made entirely with RHW). I would like to make an even more compact version, by placing the stack flyovers pass between the lone off-ramps and the through direction bridge (it's problematic due to the bugginess of the diagonal-top-orthogonal overpasses). This one was made in my Network addons laboratory, but it may be added to some future cities of mine.

Hey guys, first post! This is part of a New York City project I'm doing. More specifically, this is the southern tip of Lower Manhattan.

My city design is constructed with functionality as the top priority, followed by appearance.

There is more to show as this city is much larger than this small sample. If anyone is interested, I can upload more!

Nego, how do you get that extended turnaround lane in your last pic? All I get is a street...

I would have put an RHW interchange there if there was room; However, there really isn't(Because of the diagonals), so I had to use avenues(Inspired by need4camaro)

Here's an intersection in a region I am developing. Big city will be to the south with 2 lane RHW connecting the southbound traffic and MIS for the rest of the directions:

Still searching for a better solution to diagonal offramps!

@7UP: Is that a RHW bridge? I have never seen that one before.... What is it called?

I guess it's an avenue bridge. Is it even possible to make such RHW bridges? Technically, there would have to be two bridges, no?

It isn't technically possible, but there is a workaround (The bridge in that pic is an Avenue bridge BTW) using the Ground Highway network to get the two-tile width. Only one publicly available bridge uses that workaround though.

Very cool, looks a lot like the 2-level cloverstack made in the rhw guide. Link https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=6843.msg361567#msg361567

Incomplete junctions are often built with the plan to carry them on through the junction, but haven't been completed because of: cost, traffic levels not warranting it, or political reasons. Incomplete junctions happen a lot in the UK as our road traffic planning is so fractious and oftentimes disjointed. A very good example is the glasgow ski ramps: http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=55.852047,-4.266804&spn=0.002957,0.011362&t=k&z=17

976: I can't articulate enough how much I appreciate the realism that's portrayed by that junction of yours.

I love this last one quite a lot--it's perhaps the only freeway interchange built at full scale, and with rather basic stuff! (one-ways and the NAM elevated road puzzle pieces) You know what? you should get the Real Highway mod (RHW) by NAM Team. Once you get the hang of it (unless you already did and this image isn't up-to-date), you'd be able to replicate an interchange as marvelous as this with it!
