I often end up with diagonal highways. I should avoid them as it is very difficult to create intersections.

image.png.24e5fa1a034db8aea1179fa162d98d86.png

The challenge is even bigger with elevated highways, as there are only L0 diagonal ramps within NAM. So I had to bring the terrain up to L1.

image.png.b5ab716fb1e5de2e098d01f9476c3b02.png

And I needed space, which made it hard to connect the ramps to the crossing central avenue. So I created a tunnel for the that avenue. The ramps then connect instead to the avenues on both sides.

image.png.8a6d777c8cc401501b471631372e8ddf.png

Lastly, a road tunnel creates a link between the avenues with ramp access.

There are ramps for elevated highways, you only need to override a FLEXramp with the desired height of main highway and it will convert accordingly.

That said, your solution is very elegant, proving that restrictions are what make possible to imagine some of the best designs.

I am glad you like my design.

As for the FLEXramps, I don't think there are any diagonal ones for L1 and L2. I raised it last year and they were added to the wish list, but I don't think they made it into the latest NAM version.

One thing I do ask all players requesting extra functionality for the RealHighway specifically is to consider that the Network Addon Mod is a lot more stuff than just the RealHighway.

I wasn't requesting anything. In this thread I stated a fact (that there are no diagonal ramps for L1 and L2) and added the information that I already suggested them. And since this thread is about interchanges, NAM request about e.g. canals are not likely to come up, are they?

Beyond the usual reminder that the NAM modding is a volunteer effort free-of-charge and free of fixed timelines,

I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the NAM team's work. If you read my post in the suggestion thread, you will see I merely asked if the ramps are possible. And mentioning it here was meant as a piece of information and not as an expression of impatience.

I want everyone to consider that we also want to balance development of different features of the mod. If all we do is RHW this, RHW that RHW everything, then what's the point of the other networks if they're also not getting a fair share of attention?

Is this the right audience for that remark? Shouldn't you be discussing priorities within the NAM team? When one asks for suggestions, one generally doesn't get to decide what those suggestions will be. But you could channel them. If there are too many RHW suggestions, say that the RHW list is closed. Even better, close the general NAM suggestion thread and open specific ones for the areas or networks you want to emphasize. After all many NAM team members are also Simtropolis moderators. You guys have all the power.

Could you share information about those catenaries? I looked at your mod list and could not find them.

Based on the file extension it would be a HEIC image, Apple and other smartphone vendors use that format for camera pictures. But the attachment has been deleted.

A mini bypass routing project has turned into a full blown freeway. Here's some interchanges on it before the city tiles develop (and parts become hard to see with towers in the way)

This parclo got beefed up to support a RHW-12S to the south

    8lJhulZ.png

The 12S continues to a new 3-way interchange

    rMJMClo.png

    Zoom in.

    BmxqlX8.png

The new route heads east. I was able to fit in a odd looking DDI here- the city tile edge didn't let me use FARHW on the east side.

    u0WoJ1n.png

    nRAKLzx.png

    ---

In the next city tile, a folded diamond

    4ad5XWb.png

    blYMuuK.png

Across the bridge, a odd 3-way connection

    Kp39xbJ.png

    wXUY0qL.png

As well as my first use of a 3 tile road prefab interchange, and a half diamond.

    M30eP2z.png

As the route curves into the wilderness, a couple partial interchanges meet it.

    kASlVLz.png

    vDbSWhf.png

    GpkP40p.png

Before heading back into a area to be developed with a prefab on a slope- this was difficult to get right with the terrain

    dDl7iHg.png

From here the bypass route will head north a bit to meet up with another freeway. That route has yet to be finalized and hits the end of the present northern reaches of the urbanized / urbanizing area in my region.

    BZvgBpB.png

    HrAuzue.png

    ---

One bonus pic- I made my first MHW in 15 years. Elevated one of the roads to bypass a complicated roundabout, and added a couple elevated MHW ramps because why not.

MHW is currently the only supported network that can go above avenue roundabouts, so it was my only choice :P

Awesome, yet still lot´s of zoning and content to go but infrastructure like this prepared as the original souther part of the region ! Wonder where beuyond the big cities there will be a more low rural light area as masive cities like these far beyond can´t reach ? Master RHW it´s a hard way to return to more basic infrastructure and ways outside city life !

    Sincerely yours,

Haha, yes I like making complicated chaos. I need high density development nearby so these get the use they are designed for.

There's still plenty of room in my region to go more suburban further out. I am working my way from medium density to low in the south, but staying dense to the North for a bit longer.

...And I am now working on that freeway- finalizing it's design with a couple unique interchanges to showcase

The bypass freeway meets at a trumpet containing a elongated EB to SB ramp to descend from the bridge. My slope mod is restrictive.

To the NW, the curve straightens out at a pretty chaotic interchange due to the railway junction nearby

Note the ramps used to connect to the avenues and roundabouts as well

    gS67rnG.png

I'm still finding ways to challenge myself in 2025. Been playing 22 years and the game stays relevant and enjoyable for me to play.

A major interchange upgrade to support further growth to the north.

Guamaní's growth dominating the western coast of the Kingdom of Borike has reached a critical point, such that the city itself no longer has room for vast numbers of incoming residents! As such, its outer suburbs have started developing, and they need to commute into the mighty metropolis! At the center of this dramatic change is the ferocious four-level stack interchange better known as the QuadStackatops! Commuters coming from the west side keep crowding these routes, warranting the widening of the freeway arriving from Casey and causing the debut of the first set of two-lane flyovers and three-lane ramps for my stack interchanges in the region!

Transit commuters have not been forgotten, as the city has also been developing a robust metro network and intercity railway links to the suburbs located north and south , and these routes are heavily utilized, too!

Not the most complicated interchange out there, but by far and a way the weirdest one I've put together.

    Automated Notice Message

All posts after 1 March, 2026 @ 01:37 GMT were lost in the site crash.

We've added this message thread divider in every topic across all forums for what were then active threads. (We decided active is if the most recent extant post (from the backup) was on or after 1 January, 2026.)

This divider serves as notice that the conversation was interrupted. Answers and further discussion which used to be here have been lost. Keep this in mind when replying. Our hope is to rebuild what is missing.
