This request isn’t so much a BAT as it is a Lot.  Would require some custom textures I would imagine.  Has anyone considered making a Food Truck park?  I haven’t seen anything like this before around SC4.  Here is a simple one in the center of a large university hospital/med school complex in St. Louis.  You can see a few trucks lined up below.

Maybe some custom pavement textures for the food truck spots, some sidewalk/patio areas for people to mill about and eat and maybe a small lawn for folks to social distance in ;)

Another request from me: New Bond Street 158-159 in London. A building whose beauty truly lies in its simplicity:

Today I would like to suggest a Berlin classic: Marmorhaus ("Marble House") at Kurfürstendamm 236. Kurfürstendamm is the main shopping area in the Western part of the city and there you can find a lot of splendid Gruenderzeit buildings. Marmorhaus was built in 1912/13 and originally functioned as a cinema. As you might guess, it was named after its marble facade (yes, real Silesian marble). The cinema had to close in 2001 and the Spanish fashion retailer ZARA moved in. ZARA left Marmorhaus last year but most pics on the internet still show their store and since there is no ZARA in the game yet (is there?), it would probably not be a bad choice.

The roof was redone later and in my opinion the glass and steel is a nice contrast to the rest of the building. There you can now find apartments, probably for low-income households ... *;)

@nycsc4

Those "penthouse-style" apartments on the roof look more like High-$ "yuppie" lofts, to me.  But these could be created in a Commercial lot AND as a R_$$ residential lot.  They would create additional pedestrian traffic in the business district.

AND -- YES !! Looking at those store front windows and the general night lighting --- @mattb325 would be the man for the job !!  (My mouth is already watering!)

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

Well, there would certainly be some interesting buildings from Berlin - older and newer ones. Apart from that I just thought, that the Marmorhaus is special and would add something different because of the material.

The Tokyo buildings are brillant and made me actually redo my luxury shopping area, which I am still working on (once more: I like contrast in my cities):

Kaiserallee.jpg.3b3b9bd10b391ca388ab91c9b83d6537.jpg

The Burberry store from Chicago is very nice too. I think these real life brands somehow make the game more "realistic" and "alive" - and I would be very happy to see more of that, since there are still some gaps down that street ... But that's just me ...

Well, I was not serious about that low-income households living there ... *;) But the red light at night might also lead to other assumptions, which goes along with commercial use ... *

Berlin for sure, but if you're looking for the best architecture in Europe - Copenhagen is the place to be (and no, i'm not danish ;-)

One of the best examples is 'Tietgenkollegiet' a coper cladded building that is housing for students near the university.

^ Yeah, that's really awesome.  Would love to see some stuff like that.  I'll add something historic from my hometown of St. Louis...some of the grand, old Second Empire Victorians.  Not a whole lot of these in the game either...if any.  These are all in the Lafayette Square neighborhood.

I've avoided posting in this thread for a while, but after seeing the gorgeous work that @IDS2 produced out of one of @Flann's requests, I thought I might give it a shot.

I've been collecting R$ and R$$ BATs over the past few months, and I was a little surprised at the scarcity of mid-century modern R$$ houses out there. @jen_p has a few really good ones. There's also @SimGoober's Swedish Modern homes and the Cascade by @mattb325 (both of which, I believe, are technically meant to be modern-era homes with some MCM heritage). I'm a big fan of these BATs, but the styles, sizes, and layouts of the models are all so distinct that its hard to grow a cohesive neighborhood.

So I figured I'd throw up the BAT Signal to find out if there's a talented modeler out there who'd be open to collaborating on a small set (or making a set on their own, if that's their style). I'd be more than happy to assist with modding and/or lotting, as well as hunting down additional reference photos and/or floorplans.

EDIT: Scroll down a few posts for an updated set of reference photos/house plans.

(Sidenote: Most of @IDS2's Minneapolis House Set fits the time period, and they were originally released as R$$ houses. However, I've found they're noticeably smaller and a little less flashy than the R$$ BATs I use, so they blend in a lot more easily with my R$ neighborhoods.)

These are probably already on your radar, but I thought I'd quickly mention the Cottages Ornee set from @mattb325. The Castleton is straight out of 1920s Los Angeles, and he made a few other homes that would feel right at home alongside it (the Wilmore comes to mind). Also worth checking out his Alhambra Duplex, which is larger, but in the same Spanish Revival style.

Nice houses. These split-level mid-century ranch houses are an interpretation of the prairie style, the most notable of which is the 'Brady Bunch' house.

I've often thought of doing something like this, but split level is nigh on impossible to achieve within the constraints of SC4. I did make one that you might be interested in (funnily enough, it's a hollywood type of house coming from the cheaper parts - at least when built -  of beverly hills)

https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3641

It certainly is a 70s house with central pool, split level parking, pizza-hut style roof-line (technically: dutch gable), and so on...

I was going to include a note about the split-levels and whether or not they'd be nightmare-ish to BAT, but I figured my post was getting a little wordy already.

While I'm fond of the split level look, it's not something I'd consider an essential feature. I think the key is the geometric shaping with the gently sloping angles of the roof contrasted with the mix of horizontal and vertical elements along the facade. The material and color combinations that were popular at that time also feel rather distinctive. Some of the designs from Click Americana scans would be good examples of what I mean (though I just noticed that the floor plans and illustrations from each of those scans don't actually match up).

The Lorraine Blvd. home is a nice reminder for me. It's one that fell off of my radar, and I'll definitely need to give a try. My shaky knowledge of architectural history betrayed me pretty badly on this one, because I initially had that home pegged as a smaller, wealthier model from the late 40s/early 50s.

Posting an updated set of house plans and illustrations pulled from Classic Americana. The first set I posted had the plans and illustrations mismatched. I've picked some favorites and matched up the illustrations with the proper plans where needed. (I dropped the split-levels based on @mattb325's feedback, but included a few tri-levels which I believe are SC4 friendly.)

I would be very grateful if someone wanted to tackle an iron ore dock and lake freighter.  These are absolutely massive structures used to load iron ore pellets onto Great Lakes freighters in and around Duluth, Minnesota.  The ore is taken to steel mills across the region.  While the industry isn't what it once was, some of these structures are still used today.

Here is a Iconic landmark. The Oliver Manson

The 1897 home of J.D. Oliver. Its a 38-room mansion in South Bend, Indiana. The 12,000-square-foot Oliver Mansion is build of native granite with 14 fireplaces and beautiful hand-carved woodwork. All current furnishings are original to the home.

J.D. Oliver was president of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works, which was founded by his father, James Oliver, inventor of the chilled plow.

Oliver Chilled Plow Works - In 1855, James Oliver of Mishawaka, Indiana bought 1/4 interest in a small foundry outside of South Bend. In 1857, he received his first patent for his chilled plow. This chilled plow had a very hard outer skin and was able to scour in heavy, sticky soils with greater wear ability. Word of its success spread world-wide, resulting in an enormous amount of plows being manufactured and sold. Oliver soon became known as the "Plowmaker for the World." In the 1920's, Oliver began experimenting with a tractor of their own. The result was the "Oliver Chilled Plow Tractor." Only one example of this tractor is known to exist today. Shortly after their tractor venture, Oliver merged with Hart-Parr, who already was set up in the tractor business." quoted

"At The History Museum, tour the 38-room Oliver Mansion that was once home to the J.D. Oliver family. All furnishings in the house are original to the home, providing a wonderful glimpse of how the family lived. Stroll through two acres of lush gardens that surround the mansion and explore the Worker’s Home, a charming cottage reflecting life in the 1930s." quoted

For those that have some free time, or need some inspiration like @mattb325. Not for a personal need, just a thought.

Then we have the Studebaker Manson in South Bend, Indiana. Its even bigger and also as gorgeous. Preserved by The Tippecanoe Place Restaurant.
