Don't see much of this kind of buildings, at least not new or modern looking. This is one excellent looking facility that I would love to work at. But playing it on SC4 would be OK with me. There is a void in civic services of these kinds of buildings in the game and this building would help fill that void. Its beautiful, can be given a function('s) (like reducing budget maintenance costs or a slight emissions reduction from better fleet maintenance) and could have other benefits from having a brand new high tech, state of the art facility built in your city like; LM or MR effects, commercial and industrial cap lifts or such.

From LDA Partners Designers & Architects site,

"LDA Partners design for the County’s new 30,000 SF shop building brings the Public Works services group into the 21st Century. The new facility consolidates the sign, roads, bridges, and vehicle maintenance divisions under one roof for the first time in decades.

This pre-engineered metal building features an expansive shed roof, covered drive-thru canopy, and a generous amount of daylighting through a continuous clerestory and 14’-0” laminated glass sectional doors area. This design strategy allows for comfortable light levels to work on equipment while reducing energy costs from light fixtures. The location also features a 5-ton bridge crane traversing the radiantly heated shop floor, allowing easier maneuverability of large equipment.

Located adjacent to the Stanislaus County Public Works Administration Building, LDA designed an outdoor plaza with Santa Maria style grille and covered seating and eating area. This plaza is large enough to accommodate the entire Public Works department staff and is used for quarterly department wide meetings as well as regional public works functions."

If the building could be the home to a super villain or evil corporation, it belongs here | Building, Skyscraper, ArchitectureNo Name?

Copied from pinterest

"The Copan Building is a 118.44 meter (459 ft.) tall, 38-story residential building in downtown São Paulo, Brazil. It has 1,160 apartments and is one of the largest buildings in Brazil, even obtaining its own postal code. The original design contained a park outside the building, a second park in an open area of the first floor, and a roof-deck. The park outside is now used by a bank building; the first floor park and roof-deck are closed."AtxtzYIWPP_160TPyTDDFv0MhVL5kXInIzrZ8uLrVY0.jpg?auto=webp&s=3f05500651e582c068969252197107671d2d18b0

4 King West

4 King West is a 72m (235ft) building completed in 1960 and located in Toronto's Financial District. A BATted version of this building existed once (it was a 3x3) and I extensively used it circa 2012-13 but I couldn't find it anywhere anymore to download after I lost my HD. It was more or less of the same size as  @scotty222's Mercure Hotel (I remember plopping them side-by-side). Was it a @kellydale2003 release? I wonder if someone still have this BAT somewhere and would like to share with us.

This modern office building is located in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.
The building was built in 1969.
There is a distinctive billboard on the roof of the building, which has a very strong presence.
Unfortunately, this building will be demolished and replaced by a new building.

Something that benefits the community.

This modern building has been demolished and can no longer be seen in person.
If it can be recreated in BAT, it can be reborn in your city.

COLLABORATION REQUEST:

Looking for lotting help on a project that I'll be doing the modelling for.

Postwar Garden Apartments (click to see a massive list)

Looking to recreate this ubiquitous style of American postwar development in game.

The complexes come in many shapes, sizes, colors, layouts and densities, but you know them when you see them.

They're notable because their entrances, typically private, face planted green courtyards with lots/garage parking in the rear, as opposed to the more auto-centric standards of the latter half of the last century.

Many units that were built to this style during that period still remain occupied, in various conditions. They are all over the continental US--small towns, cities, military bases. Basically everywhere that was poppin in 1950. I hope to capture the diverse stylistic and socioeconomic range of these developments in my modelling.

I'd love some help lotting these! Particularly arranging them into growable ortho lots with trees and props. I can handle diag/FAR pieces, but I have never used a prop before. So guidance and suggestions for trees, lights, cars, parking textures..... and here comes the peanut gallery lol. But being that these are pervasive in our cities and towns I really want to do them justice.

They'd also be a great transition in game from low to medium density residential (across all wealth levels) and would be an easy way to develop land quickly. (just like irl!)

Let me know if you'd be interested in collaborating! or just message to bounce ideas around. let's make stuff!

@Sloppyjoemess I am swamped with real-life right now, but I want to help with this project; if not through actual research and lotting assistance, then at least through encouragement. You hit the nail on the head: the Garden Apartment, as a form, is almost entirely missing from the game, despite making up a good chunk of inner suburbs in many lower density cities in the USA and being a crucial part of the built environment landscape. (Some of my closest friends live in ones in and around Washington, D.C.). For those creating historically-based tilesets, these would be essential for filing the role of mid-density apartment complexes at all wealth levels for the Era 2 ("New York 1940") tileset.

I'd love if there were some historic diagonal railway stations. I know there are a few diagonal train stations by mattb325 and marrast, but I don't think there are any historic old-timey ones. I'd be happy with any style really,  this one from Dauphin, Manitoba is nice, but any variety of diagonal station would be grand!

Hi friends,

I saw this article today about this historic care home being subject to demolition.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/mar/16/london-care-home-residents-given-three-months-to-leave

I link it for 2 reasons.

1) we always need more unassuming yet interesting building options as they look at home in many different environments and thus are useful to many players.

2) This building itself - which i admit i had no idea of until seeing the article - has housed a number of notable figures and therefore it would be nice to see it live on, if only in SC4.

This might be interesting for I-M. It's a factory in Pittsfield, Maine, that's producing COVID testing swabs:

2600x-1.jpg

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-03-18/covid-test-swab-company-puritan-faces-family-feud

It used to be a GE Infrastructure Security fire alarm factory and presumably has had other uses. That back part looks quite old.
