About This File

ANZAC Memorial Hyde Park, Sydney, by Mattb325.
---------------------------------------

The striking art-deco war memorial to the ANZACs (Australian & New Zealand Army Corps) was built in Sydney's Hyde Park between 1932 and 1934. It is heritage listed.

The memorial is the focus of commemoration ceremonies on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day. The building design was part of a competition commissioned in 1929 with a brief that the building cost no more than 75,000 pounds.

The building is clad in pink granite with a large arched stained glass window on each elevation and there are bronze friezes above the lower doorways as well as the large sculptures atop columns representing military personnel. The interior features a small museum and halls of silence and halls of memory. To the north of the memorial is a reflection pool lined with poplars.

Placing this park lot - as well as blending in with many other modular/maxis parks available, will also greatly assist city growth, clean the air over a wide radius, improve desirability with residential and commercial areas and help bust demand caps across all wealth levels.

NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE:

There are two model files in this download. You must select the appropriate file from the download. The file suffixed with 'DN' is for those users with a night-time darkening mod installed. The file suffixed with 'MN' is for users who do not have any such mods installed.

If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version.

If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/)

I start to believe that those trees by cycledogg and girafe they talk. And they wisper: yes, Matt, please take me! Give me a lovely homestead on your lot. I mean – the perfect batting apart - where would you feel more at home as on a lot by Matt if you were a 3D tree?

Aesthetically this lot ... it's like we are allowed to get a glimpse of perfection. How lucky we are, Matt is sharing the same game with us.

Wonderful work! Hope to see "Çanakkale Martyrs' Memorial" someday too.

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." - M. Kemal Atatürk.

This is a welcome addition to the park menu! I was looking at pictures of the Smith memorial arch in Fairmount park Philadephia the other day and thought it would be nice to have a sophisticated urban park like this in SimCity but what you did there is even better.

It amazes me that after all these years we still get something like this. Superb modelling and texturing and superb lotting. Everything here fits together perfectly and creates a dignified place to remember. Thank you, Matt!
