About This File

UPDATE to Version 3 (24 May 04):

* Fixed problem with first subway car not drawing correctly.

* Widened car spacing slightly to look better.

* Simplified packaging for easier use and smaller file sizes.

* Added extra cars to mix with other sets

If you have a previous version, remove it completely and use these files instead.

This set contains original-replacements for all the passenger rail types (surface, el, and subway) in the game, for a total of five files. You can use any or all of them, there are no dependencies. They are UDI-enabled and have night lighting. The destination signs on the side of the train light up at night too, which is kind of cool I think.

Not having seen these trains in person, I did the best I could from photographs. I chose the "rainbow front" scheme and not the "black front" scheme because it looks prettier in-game.

In real life, MARTA runs the same basic trains as the DC Metro, just with tapered car-ends, different paint, and different sign placement. Similarity is therefore intentional, because that's how it is. I tried to get the detail as close as I could, right down to the no-smoking sign on the front. If any Atlanta-area residents have any corrections, I'm all ears.

Enjoy!

I live in Atlanta and work right next to a MARTA station, and I have NEVER seen a MARTA train that clean (just a minor detail). It needs to be a lot dirtier, but this will do :). But since I want clean trains, I'll definitely pick this up. Great job!

I love these, will you be creating new freight train sets? Great detail and design. Good usa style trains, i'd really like to see British trains from people, if i knew how to create trains and stuff as useable props like these i could probably make them.

Good job. And you are right, the MARTA and WMATA (Washington Metro) cars were built by the same manufacturer. Next - How about Amtrak's Acela (high speed) train?

Scott: Amtrak NEC sets are already "in the pipeline;" you can expect Acela, Amfleet, Viewliner, Heritage, and improved Metroliner equipment over the next few weeks.

How about Chicago's L? That'd be a pleasure to see, even if it was only half as good as the rest of your mods.

I'm an Atlanta area resident and I say you did an exceptional job on the trains. I'm impressed and happy someone's representin' the ATL. You get a 10, hands down.

I live in Atlanta, and while this is very neat its way too clean. You need to add some graffitti or some detritus to the exterior of the trains and then they would be perfect!
