BTW - lately I discovered for the prop limit on lots: if you put a prop family on a lot every member of this family is counted, even - in result- there is only one choosen each time. F.e. if you put a family on the lot with 20 members it's 1280 divided by 20 = 64 times you can put this family on a lot. If there's nothing else.

Thanks.  I still find the prop families confusing.  I can't really see an advantage to using them other than for organizing purposes.  By my math I still get a limit of 1280 props organized into families (64x20), but I'll continue studying.

I'm still amazed I figured-out the overlay textures.  With the overlay textures I followed a tutorial on overlay textures and then had to read through the comments to get the critical piece of information required (revealed by rsc204) that the group IDs have to be set to 0x0986135E <-- revealed again here for anyone trying to figure-out how to make overlay textures.
