This mod has been deprecated by the community because Submenus DLL allows better management of in-game mods

It is recommended to install Submenus DLL instead of DAMN

About This File

Hello!

I want to introduce my first creation for the fans of SimCity 4.

DAMN Manager

DAMN Manager is an alternative to the commonly used (I hope *;) ) program SSPTool and DAMN Plugin by Stefan Wertich.

It is a tool for creating files for Dealey's "Daeleys Advanced Menu Navigator" plugin aka DAMN.

The program to use is very similar to its original, has some new features: adding the original lots of SimCity, menu items can be created automatically using custom templates and a few minor additions.

I have written this program because i had have some problems with the original SSPTool.

To not bore you any longer, I invite you to download the program, all (or almost all) the information can be found in the help files included with the program.

Any comments are welcome, especially those critical.

If you have any problems with specific plugins, give me it's name and a link where to download the plugin.

The program includes the language files in English and Polish (polski).

ps. Please forgive me if the English contains errors. If (dare I say when) some will see (help file or user interface), please let me know.

pss. Manager has been tested on Windows XP, VISTA (64bit), 7 (64bit) and 8 (64bit - clean install).

Seems like a cool alternative. Like was said earlier = never mess with a working system. My current DAMN/SSP arrangement is working right now, but if/when it goes to crap, I will try this one out. Don't be discouraged. Looks like you have something good going here.

Hi Yild, very good idea to create a new DAMN editor. there was some room for improovements. Thank you.
I just launched your Damn Manager 1.0.5 and experienced a strange behavior :

my Plugins folder contains 18 subfolders but DAMN Manager sees only 3 of them,

Nethertheless the Plugins_list.sav contains 13704 lines.

access rights to the folders seem to be OK.
What's wrong ?

I feel uncomfortable when users experience bugs in my software (not only this one), the programmers always suspect that their creations may have bugs... but they hope that it's perfect piece of art ;)

cut to the chase... yes there may be some... sorry there IS a problem... with folder attributes - you should check if your folders are not set "as hidden", atm manager ignore the hidden folders. I will correct this issue in the next update...
atm remove "hidden" attrib from any folder - let me know if that will help.

After SSPTool keep playing dumb when I try to open RHW, I try to switch to this instead, but my DAMN installation is undetected :(
should I choose to install?
FYI:using W7 with SC4 installed in different folder than default ( D:\SC4D\)

NAM puzzles are not normal lots, you must add them by 'Add network lots' in the Extras menu. Additional info in help.

Can this pick up where SSP left off? As in, do I need to undo my SSP setup completely, or can I just switch to using this mid stream?

you can, but in order to hide/unhide lots in the feature you need to hide lots again coz ssptool store modified exemplars in different location.

For some reason the news ticker in my game is extremely wide. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

After quite a bit of troubleshooting, got this working on Windows 8. Turned out to be something (unknown) on my system that a reinstall of Windows cleared up. Likely the fact I was using Enterprise Evaluation rather than retail Pro. Works now!

1.1 version was corrected - if you downloaded 1.1 version before 3 February 2013 please redownload - there was an 'debug' popup message showing when scanning plugins folders

Hello,

this is really a great alternative - but however my "News ticker" (or "Urgent Advice Dialog") stays blank.

First I used german characters äöüß for the DAMN menus, but I changed that and reindexed.

Could that be the reason?

Should I start from scratch?

great work, works a little bit smoother than the SSP TOOL. I love how it makes a list of all your building once and then u don't have to wait every time u open it. great work!

Been trying to get the Damn working for about two weeks now, Damn works fine until you get in the game then it's a total piece of useless dribble. The you try to get help and there's nothing available for help! The tutorial is fine if you have XP. It's useless for Win 7! In fact don't bother using it!

I give it at best a 2. Only because the program itself works just not in SC4 Deluxe!!!!

Damn manager works fine for me, but I have a question: Is there a way to make it read the user visible name key and item description key from the locale Ltext so you could get the descriptions in your own language?

I know it can be changed individually but 500 menu items... puuhh

EDIT:

I just found out that when I try to add maxis lots, the descriptions are in Danish... but I have the swedish version installed? Is there a bug somwhere in the program where the locale file is off by 1? Or is it just a mixup between swedish and danish?

I think it's a bug! Mine comes up in polish but I have SC4 deluxe in english!

Help! When DAMN Manager reads a .dat file containing PNG subfiles, it shows "unknown format of the preview image" though they are not corrupted, and if I try to add buildings to the menu, this software will hang!! Shrinking the file size doesn't help. My OS is Windows 7 SP1(64 bit).

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! After learning how to use the system (which was simple with walkthroughs) I don't know how I ever lived without it. So awesome, I love it and it will be a permanent fixture in my plugins folder. Thank you so much and keep up the great work!
