About This File

Hello!

This is the first BAT that I upload. It is a building that I made for my city and is inspired by Shuwa Shiba Park Building( thanks to MIKADOCANON for identifying it) in Tokyo, east of the Tokyo Tower. It's only a landmark and it doesn't have any jobs, my city is mostly eyecandy so I didn't bother with it. I also don't have much free time, so I won't do any more changes to it. The lot is 5x11 tiles ( as far as I remember).

I hope you like it!

Stunning first effort, I can see you put a lot of effort in to this. I would recommend some work on the textures...and having a ploppable version would be nice. That's just nitpicking, trust me this is better than the work of some seasoned designers. Great job.

This IS a ploppable. The description states that this is a landmark, and as such, it's ploppable. Landmarks don't grow.

@POPESCU: Ok, Mister. I have two questions: Where have you been hiding? And when will we see another upload? This is a spectacular STEX debut!

I could look at this roof junk for ages, and I also love the windows with those blinds. :) The only small shortcomings I see is that the top of the awning seems to have lost its texture and that all those HVACs on the roof look a bit pale, not that much like metal. It's really not a big deal, though, and I hope it will not be your last upload. Excellent work, thank you so much for sharing it with us!

P.S.: I also like the architecture of the building. It's really unique and stands out without being a highrise.

Thank you for all your comments!
I know it's not a perfect BAT, but I really don't have much time to spend on a single BAT. I tried to recreate Tokyo many times in SC4 in the past but I was never satisfied with how it ended up.
After 4 years I decided to try again and now I want to achieve more diversity in my city through BATing. Since my time playing SC4 is very limited ( about 5 hours a week, the rest is allocated to university projects, studying and going out with my friends :)) my BATs my be less than perfect. They are ment to fit in my city and sometimes I cut corners to save time. Because of time issues I will never edit uploaded BATs, unless there is a major problem ( brown boxes, errors). Also, if I upload more, they will all be landmarks, I think you can easily edit with SC4 plug-in manager if you want to change that.
Thank you for the votes!

Oh, I forgot something. When I used the Lot editor, I used some random textures for base texture because I did't care for them since they are under the BAT and can't be seen. So I'm not sure if they are Maxis textures or from other BATs. I hope brown boxes don't appear beacause of this. I want to ask people who downloaded it to tell me if they encounter any problem in game.
Thank you!

There are many things I like. And I agreet with T Wrecks: Where the hell have you been all the time.

The first thing I really like is the texture of that kind of fountain right in front of the building. The building is reflected in the water so I guess you are using 3ds Max. What I also like is the ground texture. In my opinion, the texture you used for the canopy (I guess it's supposed to be some kind of concrete) looks too clean. You could have added some grime to it by using Photoshop or Gimp. The windows are looking great, espacially with that blinds. Unfortunately I don't know why you didn't add some reflectivity to the windows. Or you could have put some furniture behind them or you could have added a texture to the floor behind them. I think it would look much better. I like the shape of the building although its facade is very dark. I don't know how the real building looks like but these boxes on the roof could have been edited a little more. The nite lites are looking great though. And I like the stairs alongside. Maybe a screenshot from another view would be great. For you first BAT, this is great.

Keep up your great work.

I love commercial midrises like this. Not really enough of them out there. And the nightlighting is great. Only drawback is no jobs (i.e., static landmark) but that isn't a big deal to me. Great work.

Thank you for your information, POPESCU. I understand where you're coming from.

As for your fear concerning brown boxes, this can only happen with missing props. Missing textures will result in transparent lots, and if the textures in question are entirely covered by the building, the player won't even notice that. :)
