About This File

Is your home theater library jam-packed with titles from the Criterion Collection? Do you find words like auteur and mise-en-scene creeping into your everyday conversation? Do your friends call you pretentious because you want to catch the Orson Welles film retrospective, rather than the latest Adam Sandler movie? If you're more apt to spend your Friday night reading subtitles from an obscure 1970's documentary about striking coal miners in a small Norwegian town, then these are for you - presenting eight different arthouse movie theatres, guaranteed to quench that thirst for real film. Featured in this download are the following establishments...

The Avalon Theatre - showing Fassbinder's Querelle
The Bijou Theatre - showing Bergman's The Seventh Seal
The Cameo Theatre - showing Fellini's 8 1/2
The Crest Theatre - showing Pasolini's Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom
The Kino Theatre - showing Chaplin's The Kid
The Metro Theatre - showing Kurosawa's Rashomon
The Regent Theatre - showing Hitchcock's Vertigo
The Vista Theatre - showing Lynch's Eraserhead

Eight different theatres on 1x2 lots, all of which are CS$$ stages 1 and 2, with jobs ranging from 16 to 32. Stats have been compiled and modded in accordance with previous releases, and all are tricked out with nightlights. No downloadable dependencies required - the only necessary file is included in this release (a little custom sound effect added to the queries). And there's a little "readme" file included, with some arthouse movie trivia and other tidbits!

So ditch your lame friends and their plebian tastes; who wants to go drinking down at the local sportsbar, when you could catch The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari on the big screen? Enjoy...

These look good, will download to check them out. Two questions: 1) are they ploppable or growable? 2) Could we get them wall to wall? Thanks for sharing!

I like that they're not W2W because in our area the arthouse theaters are surrounded by modern buildings, often highrises, the original neighboring buildings having been torn down. Of course, some W2W would be nice for older cities.

Woops, I forgot to mention in the description that these are all growables. As for wall-to-wall, just about all of these have been modelled with details on their sides (exit doors, fire escape stairs, etc.) But maybe the next pack of grindhouse theatres will have some wall-to-wall...

Fantastic job! You are filling both a lacking theater niche in sc4, and fueling our ever growing thirst for more CS buildings (not to mention these look beautiful!). Top notch stuff.

great bats, amazing description, I completely agree with your opinion on ploppables (no offense, but maybe other batters could follow the same policy, it always takes so long to find and delete ploppable lots:). Thanks, madhatter!
