About This File

This set contains 3 train stations: a small 1x2, a medium 1x4, and a large 2x4. The small and medium stations have already been released, however, these versions have improved textures, more efficient LODs, and improved lot designs. You can use all versions at the same time with no conflicts.

The small size of these stations allows them to be placed in areas where most train stations don't fit, and they have the potential to increase ridership across your entire train network. Train stations can also increase pedestrain traffic, and decrease road congestionalong withit's associated air pollution.

Please read the readme for more information.

Small Train Station

Capacity: 1,500 passengers.

1x2 lot (one transit enabled track).

Plop Cost: §75

Medium Train Station

Capacity: 3,250 passengers.

1x4 lot (one transit enabled track).

Plop cost: §125

Large Train Station

Capacity: 6,500 passengers.

2x4 lot (two transit enabled tracks).

Plop cost: §300

Old Versions:

As previously stated, you can use the new versions of the train stations (found in this set) along with the old versions with no conflicts. The original small train station can be found here, and the original medium sized train station can be found here. They are not required for the new versions to work.

Update June 12th, 2006:

If you are using a mac, and these train stations do not work properly, demolish any instance of these stations in your cities, and redownload this set.  The capacity problem has been fixed.

Thank you for being one the first people to upload a train station with what I consider to be the finest example of architecture: Beaux-Arts. Can you please create some more new buildings and original buildings that are Beaux-Arts architecture? Possibly Washington, D.C.'s Union Station?

I really love these in my cities as I'm trying to recapture a lot of the mystique of cities that were built turn-of-the-century. It's like im building a modern-day Detroit with these, with a NYC flair

I use these CONSTANTLY in my cities, esp. the 1x2. (It's why I've got Opinions(TM) about it. ;) )

First off, thank you SO much for making these Mac compatible. So few BATters take the time to do so, when it's a very simple thing to do.

However, I've discovered that all train traffic on the line counts as "using the station", therefore if it's in a neighborhood on the way out of the city, despite few people actually using the station, it often has "too much traffic". (Which may have been a conscious choice, I mean, it does go THROUGH the station, so...)

Also, it seems that (at least the 1x2 & the 1x4) doesn't have parking and people can only walk to the station. (Haven't checked out the others for this yet.) (Maybe that was intentional?)

I wish this was also updated by the NAM for greater numbers.

I made this 15 years ago and so I don't remember all of the details. Someone else (I don't even remember who) is responsible for the mac compatibility, so you can thank them, lol. The lack of parking was likely intentional, since visually there is no parking on the lot.

To solve the through-station issue, you can place the station right next to the main rail line and then have a little parallel section of track that goes to the station. The way transit lots work in the game is that certain types of traffic can enter a lot, certain types of traffic can leave a lot. So a through train, upon hitting the edge of the lot, would deconvert from a train, and then upon leaving the lot, would convert back into a train. Or the train could convert into a pedestrian. So everything has to enter the lot and switch types, even if it's just switching to the same type it originally was.

For the capacity issue, the game is misleading. Transit lots work exactly the same whether they're under capacity or above capacity. However, once they hit 400% of their capacity, they stop accepting new sims. If these stations were to go over 400% presumably it would shut down that entire section of the system since the lot would not accept additional "through traffic". So if the through traffic is making one of these go way over capacity I'd definitely put it on a branch.
