Industry Doubler 2

About This File

This mod doubles the number of jobs provided by the in-game industry buildings. There are 4 files you can optionally install; they double the jobs for each industry category (farming, dirty, manufacturing, and high-tech). So, you don't have to double all the industry categories if you don't wish to do so; you can pick & choose.

I made this mod after trying out the industry-quadrupler mod on this site. I found that mod to be unbalanced, and in the "cheat" category, so I made an alternative mod to be more balanced with the rest of the game.

1. I only doubled the number of jobs, rather than quadrupled them. I found 4x was just too much.

2. I doubled the building tax values. This makes the income from industry to be the same as the default for the same number of jobs. This allows a "industry city" to be economically feasible, just as with the default game values.

3. I doubled the power and water requirements for the buildings. This means you have to spend the same amount of money to support a similar number of jobs as you would with the game default. (I found this balance to be lacking in the industry quadrupler.)

4. I doubled the pollution from each building. Again, this means that the same amount of jobs will produce the same amount of pollution as with the game's default. (Again, missing in the 4x mod.)

See the readme for installation details.

Nice Mod. Gets my city going again after a growth stop because of the lack of space for industry. Going for 1 milion inhabitants now :).

AMAZING! Saved my city/region! Many unemployed before installing this mod and then after installing this I was able to coax my dying city back to its former glory! Great mod, one of those things that makes the game just a bit more realistic, I mean like, what two acre large factory only offers 70 jobs? 140 jobs sounds more like it!

More than once, I've decided to download a mod despite it having one or more features perceived as unfavorable only to discover that the developer had already taken that into account by making their mod modular (no pun intended).  Although, I'm sure I missed out on some nice work before adopting this policy.  To the users: It's in your best interest to read ALL the reviews AND the documentation before passing judgement on a mod.  To the developers: you wouldn't have uploaded your work had you not intended for others to benefit from it, so be thorough in your descriptions because afterall, we're only human.  Now, back to the review.  Bones1, your mod is far more advantageous than it's predecessors.  God job!

A warning to people before REMOVING this mod:

Removing this mod will cause traffic inconsistency BETWEEN cities you have built while having this mod activated. Neighbouring cities will act as if you still have this mod installed, sending double the traffic to your industrial cities even though the number of industrial jobs have reduced by 50%. Deleting all industrial and letting it regrow does fix the problem.

Not complaining about the mod, its a great mod and does what it promises, I just wanted to give out this warning to people because this bug forced me to delete a region I had been working on for many many hours.

Just download/installed this, jobs appear straight away with no re-plopping. From comments here I'm confident this will have no ill effects. I didn't use the Water/Air Pollution doubler files, but as mentioned before you can choose these optionally, for me it's too much hassle keeping I-HT going with pollution without doubling my problems. Thanks.

Thank you so much...I know that the 4x mod was overkill for the maxis 50 jobs for a huge factory...now I can have an industry town with out having to have a population of 2 million!

I haven't tried either one yet, but I have noticed that i have to buld huge lots of industry for my towns demand, but thanks to this comment now I have an idea of what the X4 demands (2 million residents). wow, my largest city is 200k.

I will try x2 first and add x4 if I need it. ...

I liked your idea and was ready to download until the double of the pollution. For me that is a killed.

Install the appropriate four files if you wish to double all the jobs. If you don't want pollution values doubled, then install the blah.dat file instead of the blah_includingPollution.dat file.

That was on his read file.
so you can use it and omit the double pollution.

Have you seen those air purification mods? there is a few of them on the site I have seen. that could help with pollution too.

nice of him to do all that.

Hope that helps you.

what happened to the X4? i can't find the extension for it.

For whatever reason I didn't really notice a change in my power consumption. But noticed the water consumption hit hard.

Superb, must-have mod.

I restart a map because with cam and the game that never let industrials to stay (sims always WANT commercials buildings) It doesn't work with a 7 century big city and -20 000 industrial demand.. lol Too much for doubler. My plan is to have always 98 percent Ind. and 2 percent CO. Very difficult with a game already made for CO (financial purpose).

After 30mins of game with this mod, I say thank you alot !! My town is industrial and keep the industrial demand even if the game complain about the choice : IDcare!

Well hello everyone. I see alot of new names. I am going to be doing some bats and designs for the Mod Sim Mars  Beta 3 release.
My first step will be drawings
second step will be creating the bats them selves.

I am starting from the ground up since it has been a number of years since I have done any thing with simcity at all.

I am back and I am here to stay untill this wonderful site is gone.

      1 - INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW

Next day, next upload - and this time it's a big one, too.
The 28th upload in this series, PCB Assembly by Tag_One, is a large warehouse and offices complex that houses one of those businesses where those smart PCB layouts are actually built and shipped to the customers. While the wider lot has some more grass areas around the building and employee parking spaces scattered all around, the narrower lot features one employee parking lot at the side and a nice little open-air break area complete with some soft drink vending machines, chairs and tables, and a fence all around so there's some degree of protection from incompetent truck or forklift drivers.
Since all Maxis lots contained in the IRM Base Pack could optionally be used with toroca's Industrial Jobs Quadrupler, this download is offered in two versions: a regular one for those who prefer the default job numbers, and a quadrupler-compatible version for those who prefer using the modified stats.
The .sc4desc files for the regular version will look like this: IRM_[Filename].sc4desc
The .sc4desc files for the quadrupler version will look like this: IRM_[Filename]_x4.sc4desc
After downloading, simply delete the file of the version you don't want to use. If you leave both in your plugins, the quadrupler version will most probably override the default version.
The default version of the building will provide 123 I-HT jobs, the quadrupler version 492 I-HT jobs.
The following lots are included in this download:
5x6, Stage 3 6x6, Stage 3 For those of you who like to play with day and night view, the building used on this lot is compatible with the following night light mode(s):
Maxis Night with gradual day/night cycle: YES Maxis Night with static day or night: YES DarkNite* with static day or night: YES *DarkNite requires SimFox' Day and Nite Modd (or a similar darkening mod) to be installed in your plugins.

      2 - USE

If you extract this archive to your root plugins folder, it should create a folder IRM\IRM Expansion\[NAME OF BAT], where [NAME OF BAT] represents the name of this download item. Within that folder, you will find all the game-relevant files and a sub-folder containing the HTML readme and some screenshot(s).

If you no longer wish to use this download, proceed as follows:
Bulldoze all lots pertaining to this download Save all the cities and exit the game when you're done bulldozing Remove the associated files from your plugins folder Hint: Just to be sure, I recommend moving the undesired files somewhere else and doing some checks before you delete them permanently. This way, if it turns out you forgot to bulldoze something, you can add it back in temporarily until you're done.

      3 - DEPENDENCIES

IRM Base Pack with all its dependencies - while these lots will technically work, they are meant to tie into the IRM. They may look out of place and show unexpected behaviour if used independently. Since this is an extension to the IRM, all the dependencies of the original pack still apply. If you have them in place, you can download every single growable IRM and IRM W2W lot I have ever made and will never have to download any additional packs for props and textures used on the lot. PCB Assembly - you'll also need the original upload of the BAT to see the building(s). Only the .sc4model file is required. NOTE: For any dependency hosted at SC4Devotion (SC4D in short), you must be registered on that site and logged into the site's download area, the BSC File Exchange, in order to see the download button. Please bear in mind that there are separate logins for the forums and for the file exchange. For those of you who may still be unfamiliar with the site: SC4D is another major SimCity community with lots of unique content, so you will not regret making an account there.

      1 - INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW

I think we haven't had anything pharma-related in a while, so here's another one. Let's face it, your Sims can't live on Fukitol and Alka Seltzer alone, they probably need some Simzac and other stuff to eat like smarties and wash down with some alcohol while complaining about all those junkies out there...
The 29th upload in this series, Pharma Lab by Tag_One, is a BAT I liked very much. Although it's basically a shoebox building, it does have some really nifty details such as the pond with the stairs leading over it and up to the entrance, as well as that neat little back entrance stair. So quite logically it ended up on my list of stuff to re-lot for the IRM. While the more compact lot is pretty straight forward, the bigger one features a nicer entrance area and some trees and hedges along one side.
Since all Maxis lots contained in the IRM Base Pack could optionally be used with toroca's Industrial Jobs Quadrupler, this download is offered in two versions: a regular one for those who prefer the default job numbers, and a quadrupler-compatible version for those who prefer using the modified stats.

The default version of the building will provide 45 I-HT jobs, the quadrupler version 180 I-HT jobs.
The following lots are included in this download:
3x3, Stage 2 3x4, Stage 2 For those of you who like to play with day and night view, the building used on this lot is compatible with the following night light mode(s):

      1 - INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW

It's been a while since my last upload, so let's move on, shall we?
The 27th upload in this series, LGX Chemical Engineering by Tag_One, is a small and simple building that houses a chemical engineering company - mainly the offices by the looks of it. The two lots offered here are rather different, one of them having the building sitting right in the middle of a totally open area, the other one with some greenery and footpaths around and the main entrance somewhat more discreet at the side. Whereas the former lot is a good 'team player', i.e. will look fine between other industrial stuff, the other one will also loog good on its own.
Since all Maxis lots contained in the IRM Base Pack could optionally be used with toroca's Industrial Jobs Quadrupler, this download is offered in two versions: a regular one for those who prefer the default job numbers, and a quadrupler-compatible version for those who prefer using the modified stats.

The default version of the building will provide 24 I-HT jobs, the quadrupler version 96 I-HT jobs.
The following lots are included in this download:
3x4, Stage 1 4x3, Stage 1 For those of you who like to play with day and night view, the building used on this lot is compatible with the following night light mode(s):

      1 - INTRODUCTION/OVERVIEW

If I let @Aarsgevogelte do all the uploads, you're going to risk dying from all the awesomeness - time to interrupt his series with somethig far less spectacular:
The 26th upload in this series, Ledpro LEDs by Tag_One, basically looks like a simply warehouse with a little office section - nothing to see here. The lots, too, are pretty toned down, with the one that has the building oriented perpendicular to the road being open to all sides and perfectly suitable for getting surrounded with ploppable fillers or other industry. A small propane tank in the back is the only special feature. The other lot is slightly more complex with the angled entrance and the fences; it features a paved area in front and a strip of green with some trees in the back, forming a border to the adjacent development.
Since all Maxis lots contained in the IRM Base Pack could optionally be used with toroca's Industrial Jobs Quadrupler, this download is offered in two versions: a regular one for those who prefer the default job numbers, and a quadrupler-compatible version for those who prefer using the modified stats.

After downloading, simply delete the file of the version you don't want to use. If you leave both in your plugins, the quadrupler version will most probably override the default version.
The default version of the building will provide 44 I-HT jobs, the quadrupler version 176 I-HT jobs.
The following lots are included in this download:
3x5, Stage 1 5x3, Stage 1 For those of you who like to play with day and night view, the building used on this lot is compatible with the following night light mode(s):
Maxis Night with gradual day/night cycle: YES Maxis Night with static day or night: YES DarkNite* with static day or night: YES *DarkNite requires SimFox' Day and Nite Modd (or a similar darkening mod) to be installed in your plugins.
