  1. I just reuploaded all of my files but I do not see an option to self-verify my files. The only actions I see under file actions are "Upload a new version" and "Edit Details". I'd like to verify my own files before I start doing this to anyone else's.
  2. Delete My File Message Banner!

@Cyclone Boom and @CaptCity thanks! I fixed the upload. Sorry about that!
  3. Delete My File Message Banner!

Wow that was fast! Although you forgot one:
  4. Delete My File Message Banner!

Please remove the banners from all restored files in my files. I've reuploaded everything. Thank you!
  5. Scoty's small tinkering

holy moly! That is incredible! But are they re-textures of existing functionality, or entirely new puzzle-pieces/functionality for the NAM?
  6. Show us What you're Working On

You know, your pictures where you show each step are not only really cool to see what you're doing but they're also like mini-tutorials that can help people make their own similar transitions!

Kel9509-Sanankoku - Growable Japanese Small Commercial W2W This is a set of growable lots based off of a set of ploppable only set of Sanankoku's Commercial buildings. This set consists of 11 growable lots (one extra from the original set of 10 ploppables). The majority are medium-wealth commercial services ranging from stages 6-7, with one low-wealth commercial service (stage 6) and one medium-wealth office (stage 7). The lots are made entirely of a small placeholder building and prop families and there is some variation in how they grow, with different structures appearing when grown. Some only grow on right or left corners. The lotting is generally consistent with the original plop lots made by Sanankoku. The lots have been coded as standard Maxis building styles (all of them). However, all lots also are coded as Wall-to-Wall. This set is also part of my upcoming new Building Styles mod: Modern Urban Japanese. To use W2W and new Building Styles, install the Optional Dependencies below. IMPORTANT: The Required dependency below includes BOTH the model files and the Props contained in the SC4DESC files. So when installing the required dependency, you need all of the MODEL files and the SC4DESC files. You can remove the ploppable-only SC4LOT files from the Required Dependency if desired (but do not erase the SC4LOT files from this download or there will be no growable buildings). INSTALLATION: 1. Download and extract all files and add them to your plugins folder. To keep them organized, copy or extract the entire subfolder structure included in the archive. REQUIRED DEPENDENCIES: Sanankoku - Japanese Small Commercial (zakkyo) Set. Extract the required dependency files into your plugins folder by copying or extracting the embedded "Sanankoku" folder into your plugins folder. As noted, if you do not want the ploppable-only lots you can delete all SC4LOT files from the dependency. Do not delete any SC4Model or SC4Desc files! OPTIONAL DEPENDENCIES These growable buildings are Wall-to-Wall and the following optional dependencies are needed if you plan to sort growable building by wall-to-wall. 1. Allow More Building Styles - DLL Plugin. 2. Building Style Control UI for the Building Styles DLL. DLLs should be added to the main Plugins folder, and not a subfolder. Note that to use DLL mods, if your OS is earlier than Windows 10 you will need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 x86 Redistributable. https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe Building List: 1. Kel9509-SOMY - Japanese Futuristic Commercial Towers v1.0, 3-16-2026 This is another set of growable lots based off of some very poorly coded and lotted sets made by SOMY, originally found on his website. The original lots were landmark ploppables only, but very poorly coded. This set fixes the errors and now each of them are growable (use cheats to plop if you wish). This set consists of 4 lots, two are CAM lots and two are for non-CAM players. One set of buildings is medium-wealth commercial services, the other set is high-wealth commercial offices. They are each 6x6 lots. The lots look exactly like SOMY's original lots, typically with a small placeholder building and extensive use of building-as-props. The lots have been coded as standard Maxis building styles (all of them). None of the lots are Wall-to-Wall. This set is also part of my upcoming new Building Styles mod: Modern Urban Japanese, to be released soon. INSTALLATION: 1. Download and extract all files and required dependencies and add them to your plugins folder. To keep them organized, copy or extract the entire subfolder structure included in this archive. REQUIRED DEPENDENCIES: SC4D LEX Legacy - SOMY Dependencies Pack This set uses the following files from this pack: SOMY Mega Props Vol02.dat Extract the required dependency files by running the javascript file. Follow the instructions for the linked dependency to install it correctly. OPTIONAL DEPENDENCIES: If you want to use the higher-stage CAM growable buildings, you can either cheat and plop and growify them in your city or you can grow them naturally with the Colossus Addon Mod: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30956-colossus-addon-mod-CAM-controller/ Building List: SOMY Office 5000 (6x6): CO$$$ 7010, Stage 8 SOMY Office 5000 CAM (6x6): CO$$$ 17019, Stage 12 SOMY Service 2000 (6x6): CS$$ 2404, Stage 8 SOMY Service 2000 CAM (6x6): CS$$ 9008, Stage 14

I don't think I've formally requested how to help, so please mark me down for sharing, processing, and verifying. Thank you!
  13. Wow. This looks really impressive but more importantly it might make it very easy to restore everything. I've been holding off reuploading my items but I'll try to do it this weekend (been a bit busy)!
  14. Show us What you're Working On

I understand that these mega-packages are probably easiest to upload, but there are some clear downsides. If you only want one or several items within, it'd be hard to sort through them. I'm not personally familiar with these authors so I'd be relying on the description or the readme to see what's included. Will pictures show everything or just a small image with the creator's name? As a dependency for anything else, downloading a mega-package like this doesn't make it easy for most people if they only need one item. Ideally, I'd prefer individual or smaller packages.

You need to wind that train through the mountains. Time for the polar express!
  16. I saw when you did this and unfortunately this is a devastating setback. I don't know if there's any way around this issue. It's a real shame though.
  17. sign up Calling All Volunteers!

Yes indeed. But also, I had helped @Tyberius06 with some updates to NYBT items: the 599 Lexington Station subway, and the NYBT Subways. Those were not uploaded by me though.

Looks like, as a download site, there's a lot of people who are willing to make available their recent downloads. I wonder if the bottleneck in restoration efforts will be on the re-posting side. It's going to be a lot to do if it's only a handful of people. Is there any idea of how many STEX files are lost? (not even talking about forum attachments and pictures). Has there been any consideration given to City Journals as well?
  19. Simtropolis Returns!

I've got a question about reuploading my files. I've held off a bit just to make sure that back-end stuff is ok. 1. Will a reupload automatically create a new version? I'd like to avoid that if possible. I understand older versions will need to be restored on the back-end. 2. Is it possible to fix pictures in the uploads without uploading a new version? 3. For forum attachments, can those also be reuploaded without editing a post or does that need to be edited also?
  20. Simtropolis Returns!

Meh. You'te not saying anything untruthful. Truth is an absolute defense. In fact, you don't need to characterize anything at all - just say "X was our old host." But the fear is also real.
  21. Simtropolis Returns!

I was wondering about prior versions. Not that many would care to download an older version of something, but for certain types of files it might make sense. And certainly I want my complete file history restored including the older versions entirely.
  22. Show us What you're Working On

Your lots are really great! Is it possible for these lots to be growables as well, or does the rail spur make that impossible?
  23. So now that I'm basically nearly done with fixing the Census Repository Building query, I thought I'd try to make a custom query for some custom buildings to show some game data that might be useful. I started with a "Department of Transportation" building. However, I'm seeing that some of the Maxis variables that I'd like to show don't really work in the game to display variables. They seem to be variables to trigger Advisor pop-ups, but they don't actually display any data. For instance, I've got a test custom Query for my Department of Transportation building that can show several variables: Those variables are: Mass Transit Funding: #game.g_masstransit_funding_p# Transit Strike: #game.g_transit_strike# Strike Chance: #game.g_transit_strike_chance# Average Freight Trip Length: #game.ga_freight_trip_length# But when I select some other ones to try out, they don't work and only show my caption instead: The one I was trying out were: Bus Station Count: #game.g_bus_station_count# BS utilization percentage: #game.ga_bus_station_utilization_p# utilization pl: #game.l_bus_station_utilization_pl# utilization subject: #game.l_bus_station_utilization_pl_subject# Does anyone know why some variables don't display data? Is there a way for me to tell which ones work? I thought that it might have something to do with the building type so I made the building into a bus stop in PIM-X, but it still didn't show anything. EDIT: I think that this is a coding issue. I looked at the Cori Reports coding that @CorinaMarie made and saw the reference to Lua formatting of numbers, like here: http://lua-users.org/wiki/FormattingNumbers I suppose I'll have to learn a bit of that or try to adapt some existing coding to see if I can get it to output into the Query, if that's still even possible. EDIT2: Well this is disappointing. The Ministry of Garbage uses similar variables (like the # of recycling stations) but there's no problem displaying them there without any fancy coding. I have no idea what's going on here. Even when I literally copy and paste the file from Reader into my test building and adjust the group/instance IDs to show up in the query UI properly, it won't display.
  24. I forgot to add one more BSC query override which applies to the awesome BSC Gascooker UK Village Church St Bartholomews, so I'll probably update the RPL Query shortly with that extra one. And I'm thinking of doing a combo NYBT-SFBT override as well. I've got basically every NYBT lot ever posted on the STEX and unfortunately despite the NYBT_Essentials redoing every query in their style, not many lots actually use them. It's a real shame because they did such a nice job with the art. After reviewing all my NYBT downloads from here, I saw that there are a few landmarks that use their NYBT Landmark query, but many use the default Maxis one. For those that use the NYBT one, I came up with a version for it. I had to extend their art a bit, combining their "new" logo with their "old" logo, to get it to fit across. I think it came out ok. @Tyberius06 or anyone else who might know, are there NYBT files that aren't posted here on STEX (like to be released on SC4Evermore?). Because I won't create overrides for their queries for rewards that don't exist. I don't have many SFBT lots so I'm not sure if it's worth doing most of their reward queries as well.
