  1. Logical Handling Of Traffic If you want High density residential and commercial buildings to thrive and grow, they need specific conditions in place. Avenues are a must. In real world cities, large offices are not built on two lane roads or streets. Roads(grey) with no white divider lines are strictly for small single family homes and a corner store. Two lane streets(black) are for apartments, strip malls, fast food joints, etc. Four lane avenues(black) are for major outlets, such as Walmart, or downtowns with high rise bank buildings and condos. Take into account: High density zones, do not mean richest sims will move in. High density can happen in the poorest neighborhoods(high rise apartments on welfare). If you build a suburban neighborhood, using winding roads or country lanes(grey), then you should only zone lowest residential and commercial(Lightest green zones and lightest blue zones). Highways help your sims travel between cities and should be direct routes to industrial parks, or large commercial districts. Mass transit is another story in SC4. If your roads, streets and avenues are well planned and have average traffic, sims won't use your subways or commuter trains. however, they will adore a balanced busing system. @LightSkinnedPisces I notice you have one way streets in industrial areas? One-ways are for moving sims through heavy commercial zones, or directing traffic flow, where traffic is very high. One-ways in industry cause long commute times, when your sims are in the biggest hurry to get straight to work. trucking needs all access in industrial parks, so one-ways and big rigs is a nightmare for truck drivers.
  2. My city journal shows the solution to every single, solitary issue in game. The SECRET to utopian cities. My sims travel to neighboring cities for industrial work. No industry in my total residential cities. They travel miles to work, with no issues. Unemployment is nearly zero. If you installed ANY traffic mods, the solutions I have found, most likely will no longer work.
  3. Kmart (Style 1)

Not actually a personal opinion, but maybe should have not said anything.
  4. Kmart (Style 1)

Just way too big for a solvable simulation. I know, everyone wants to be creative with SC4, but SC4 is a solvable puzzle simulation, which requires lots to be no bigger than 6x6, unless the lot is a challenger piece.
  5. Tariel Curling Club (5x7)

Been looking for transparent buildings/lots like this, but it is too big for my solvable simulation strategy.
  6. IRM I-M Wally K's Distribution Center by SimGoober

It has a nice industrial look and feel, but I can't use it - I am looking for buildings no bigger than 6x6.
  7. Mythicon Valley

I'm with your daughter on this one - Hate heights. Thanks for viewing my latest CJ, Naomi57. Your CJ is tempting me into trying the NAM again. When i first tried it, it wass brand new, but it messed with the games original number values and didn't play well with gridded cities like mine.
  8. Mythicon Valley

Humans are taking over the regions. One day in the long, long far away future, the creatures will just be a long forgotten mythicon... This region is nearly grown. A goal of 4 million Simizens may be achieved one day. Open image in seperate tab and enlarge. Read the city names and titles and enjoy.
  9. Mythicon Valley

CrybKeeper is the governor of this monstrous and mythical region and he is also a monster,... a Ghoul to be exact
  10. Mythicon Valley

River Roc Range Opens New Radio Station. 101.3 Kroc, playing only "Roc and Troll", 24 hours a day! Parents aren't too happy, but the teenagers love the new muse!
  11. Mythicon Valley

New cities and industrial districts, cropping up all over. Reclaiming the sea - Japan did it, so why can't we?
  12. You had a wonderfully imaginative beginning for this journal and these images are fantastic to view! Hoping you continue this CJ, Patricius! It's very detailed and beautiful!
  13. Mythicon Valley

We got Van Helsing out of retirement and had him wear his exterminator hat one more time, eliminating all those nasty trolls! Aaahh! Now traffic is flowing nicely!
  14. Mythicon Valley

For some strange reason, The Simizens of Lamia Landing, are not wanting to cross the bridges? Traffic is very minimal. Maybe there are still some leftover lady vampires, lurking about? Van Helsing surely destroyed them all. Uh-oh! I see the problem we are having now - Bridge Trolls!
  15. Mythicon Valley

Thank you, Patricius Maximus! I too, have thought about putting my CJ into the newer City Journal section, but I do agree with you - We should stick together in the Forum. Thank you, PaPa-J!
  16. Mythicon Valley

Our region is beginning to shape up! Once our major cities are developed and connected by inter region highways, we will see a population boon. Lamia Landing was once plagued with lady vampires, until Van Helsing came along and built a big farmhouse.
  17. The People's Village (The road to breaking 1 billion vanilla sims)

I do not know the technical data side of this, but this doesn't happen to my cities??? I haven't had any issues with balancing industry, commercial and residential, with nearly 0% unemployment. For myself, I simply experimented with the numbers and sizes and things in the original game, to find the solution to every issue. i do not have any traffic, population or industry mods, etc. I only use money cheats and space saver lots. No mods.
  18. The People's Village (The road to breaking 1 billion vanilla sims)

I will keep watching this CJ, to see if you make the 1 billion mark. NICE idea! If you look at my CJ (Mythicon Valley), you may find some great ideas for development of your population - I know plenty of secret strategies the game designers put into SC4.
  19. Mythicon Valley

A new industrial city, with a smidge of residents. Highways in our standard SC4 Rush Hour, never get much traffic. Highways in our inner cities, actually hinder the traffic flow, as commuters will mostly bypass using the highway. This is because, highways are for long trips from city to city and not very good for the inner cities. We use highways to connect the larger cities together, thus we transport goods and services between them in a rapid manner. Banshee Bay grows up:
  20. Mythicon Valley

Still checking in. Just not too many people interested in SC4 these days. Maybe it is my boring grid system? Oh well, no matter; I have some updates coming soon!
  21. Show us What you're Working On

Mythicon Valley is a medium to large region, comprised of mythical namesakes. The Mythic Creatures topic was suggested by CorinaMarie. Go take a look at my CJ in the City Journals Forums(old school), for how this region is currently developing.
  22. Mythicon Valley

We have a new industrial city: Nereids Knole! Gryphons Gulch is doing quite nicely as well. nereids were witnessed in this area by local fisherman, but the Nereids do not love the namesake, due to a lack of ample waterways. In Greek mythology, the Nereids (/ˈnɪəriɪdz/ NEER-ee-idz; Greek: Νηρηΐδες Nereides, sg. Νηρηΐς Nereis) are sea nymphs (female spirits of sea waters), the 50 daughters of Nereus and Doris, sisters to Nerites.[1] They often accompany Poseidon, the god of the sea, and can be friendly and helpful to sailors, like the Argonauts in their search for the Golden Fleece.
  23. I understand, you guys know more about game mechanics than I do, so don't roast me if I get something incorrect, haha. I just know what makes my lots grow "in game". r$, r$$ and r$$$ are densities, so a r$ will not become a high density lot, such as a skyscraper. I want my skyscrapers, so I build bunches of r$$$, which allows for these 20 story buildings. They can be poor Sims apartments or rich Sims apartments. I tried the NAM, way back when it was first created and it screwed up my growth and how the traffic worked in balance with the rest of the games mechanics. I do not use the NAM, since it is not needed for perfectly functioning traffic. Skyscrapers: They do not like to grow on suburban streets, like you guys are using, so they stay single family homes or small apartments(mostly). I use all avenues and my r$$$ lots always and eventually, grow into high rise apartments. mansions growing in show me, I have the correct formula in place for great growth and wealth. I love to see my mansions.
  24. Mythicon Valley

So, this weekend I made a Simtropolis donation of $25.00 USD, using my Paypal. I need to get working on those Llamas soon.
  25. Mythicon Valley

Building a new neighborhood in Gryphons Gulch. Demand bars are balancing out, the mayor is loved, traffic is minimal and we are already getting close to a solid profit margin for the city. Also, our simizens are genius', with an average I.Q. of 165, while living to the ripe old age of 86!
