  1. Has anyone noticed this?

SimCity 3000 Unlimited has been released on steam for the first time. It's also back on the EA store. SC3K was my introduction to the series, and having it on more platforms other the GOG is wonderful. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2741560/Sim_City_3000_Unlimited/
  2. Cities Skylines 2 Released

The first gameplay video and screenshots from CS2 have arrived. Looks great too. For more information an game-play discussion, visit the forums here at Simtropolis.
  3. Time To Take Another Look At NewCity

Has anyone heard what's going on at lonepine? They stopped updating after April 2022 and haven't posted anything since. Does this mean they took the EA money and ran? If they did, such a shame, this was starting to look really good.
  4. I am exited for this. I agree that SC4Deluxe is still a better simulator than CS1, but CO has an great opportunity to finally achieve what SC4 has, not just as city maker, but a true city builder. Honestly, SC4 is tough to get into, veteran players, newbies, casuals and hardcores alike. The work that this community has done is easily the best for any game in any genre, but let's face it- SC4 is old, and it is being stretched beyond what it was designed to do. I'd like to see a true SC4 successor, and I am cautiously optimistic this might be it. I could be 100% wrong though, like I was in 2013. My chief concern is what has already been pointed out- Paradox Interactive's business practices. Advertising DLC for a game that hasn't even come out yet? That is something that never would have happened 20 years ago.
  5. Uh... Wow! This is what SimCity 2013 SHOULD have been! Gameplay trailer, sceens, and release date: October 24th! https://www.paradoxinteractive.com/games/cities-skylines-ii/about
  6. So I'm trying to continue some of my cities, but they won't load without crashing. I've tried both a blank tile and one that I've built on. The city loads about halfway through then CTD's with no message. I am using the steam version of SimCity 4 Deluxe. I've also attached the latest Exception Report to this post. 7. Loading crash after reinstall

I applied the 4 gb patch, and my main city now loads. Thanks for the help!
  8. Loading crash after reinstall

    1. Yes. Besides lots and props, I've got the NAM and Cori's No Kickout Lower Wealth mod. I don't think Cori's mod is up to date, it's the beta version. I think the NAM is the previous build, not 39 (that's the latest version?) I haven't changed anything in my plugins folder since the crashes started. Oh, and SC4Fix dll is there too. 2. The blank city is in a new region I downloaded and set up using the in game rendering tool. I also tried loading my largest city in my previous region, the built-in Fairview region. Also I have tried uninstalling once before a while back when I had this same issue, and just got around to reinstalling tonight, hoping that the issue would be resolved.
  9. Stellaris

Has anyone here played Stellaris? It's published by the same bunch that did C:S. It's a real-time grand strategy game set in space where you can design and govern a star empire. I'm absolutely loving it, and the new Utopia expansion is excellent too.
  10.  I haven't logged in for a long time but I have been lurking. Gonna try to get back into SC4.

  11. 2 questions about SC3KU

I've actually had issues with water in SC3k as well, but I haven't played it for a while so I can't remember how I solved them. Could you post a screenshot of your water system here? That could help immensely.
  12. Stellaris

I've never played an online match in Stellaris as I found single player deep enough! There's another game like Stellaris that's even deeper called Distant Worlds: Universe. However it's single player only, and it's top down. Each game has a different focus. Btw, the Utopia expansion makes Stellaris a great deal deeper. I highly recommend it.
  13. 2 questions about SC3KU

I think I might know why your water pumps aren't working. Did you place them by the ocean? SC3k has both salt water and fresh water. To pump salty ocean water, you'll need a desalination plant instead of water pumps. If I remember correctly, the desalination plant unlocks in 1960.
  14. Galactic Civilizations III

Sorry to bump an old thread but this is one I've played a lot as of late. I'll admit when I first tried it I was not impressed. I'm still learning its nuances, but having the ability to create custom units is incredible.
  15. Simtower and SimAnt were a real treat to play. Oh, Spore was fun too.
  16. City Life

City life is intriguing. Monte Cristo had an odd sense of style in this game, but the culture groups feature was very original.
  17. Will SimCity 2018 become a reality?

Seeing that EA's only interest of late in the SimCity IP is mobile pay to win garbage, I doubt it. Besides, they'd probably just mess up again like they did the last time.
  18. Urban Empire

Ehh. I think I'll pass. The idea is intriguing but from what I have read the game has lots of bugs and feels samey after one or two times through. Maybe if the bugs get fixed and it comes down in price, I'll give it a buy.
  19. SimCity 3000 OFFICIAL THREAD

Hmm. My guess is that this was leftover content that for one reason or another was left in the game files but not added into the final game. I believe there were other buildings that were left out or had their appearances changed before release.
  20. SimCity 3000 UK edition

If you're running Windows 10 you may have issues with it. I wouldn't know much, but I do have an original SC3U disc. The game installs and plays but runs very slowly for no apparent reason. I wish Steam would carry a copy of SimCity 3000, I can't use GOG.
  21. President Donald Trump and his Administration

I don't like this administration. I'm not going to argue why I feel this way. I've argued enough on the subject and I'm tired or it. I'm just stating my opinion.
  22. Hello everyone. Long time no post. I've been lurking for several years, playing SC4 off and on, and just now for the first time since I bought the game all those years ago, I've got a big, prosperous city with 100,000 residents! However I have a weird issue that I am hoping you guys could shed some light on. Demand for Residential zones (all three wealth levels) is sky-high. However, demand for all commercial zones save for low wealth services and all industrial zones is negative. My main city is flanked by two smaller cities, one which has a small industrial area, and the other has mainly low density medium wealth residential. Have I spent too much time on the main city and not enough on its neighbors? I have tried lowering taxes for C and I zones, but the effect on demand is minimal and quickly eaten up. High wealth residential sims in particular are struggling to find work, despite having some demand. R$ and R$$ demand is very high. This leads to my other question. How do I discourage wealthy sims from moving in and encourage poorer sims to take their place? I am aware that high land value is a turn off to R$ sims, but desirability for those places is still very high. This issue has always plagued my bigger towns and cities. If need be, I can post a shot of the city and some statistics later, but I hope I just made a simple first timer error in my planning. NAM v34 is the only plugin installed, and I am running the steam version of SC4.
  23. IMO, I feel that CO is trying to make C:S a game that balances what the SimCity fans want and what the general gamer wants. Serious players seem to want something that is basically a canvas to make ultra detailed but somewhat still and non-functional from a simulation standpoint, while the more casual user wants a simulation that provides feedback and is not so much art as entertainment. I feel the C:S strikes a balance between these two styles better than any other game in this genre. I respect both play types, and I also respect everything CO has done and will do. After all, they are a business, and businesses exist to make money. Trying to make C:S a static city canvas that looks pretty but does nothing otherwise would be unprofitable for them and would alienate a large part of their player base. So, I don't think CO has lost their touch on what their fans want. I think they are just doing what they've always done.
  24. It also is now available for pre order on the Paradox Plaza store, but not from Steam as far as I can tell. Looks like another good DLC, particularly the scenario editor.
