Hi, is there a way to get a sidewalk on a smooth 45 curved avenue? I know how to make curves with the single square pieces, (roads, one-ways) but can't get the avenue to curve without using the plopping feature, thus not having a sidewalk. Thanks in advance.

Hi, and Welcome to Winnesepaukee!!! I'm just going to build a city. Every time I spend time on it, and save it, I'm going to take pictures and tell you about it. The region is 18x18 large tiles or 72x72 blue. The City is called Winnesepaukee. I'm going to add all the details as I go along. All I did so far was the central tile, which you can see here. It is a simple river between two slopes. I added pine trees and deer. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate. I've never done a forum journal before, and I wanted to do one like this. Thank you.

Hi. How do I make buildings? I don't have enough. I have Gmax, SC4 Plugin Manager, SC4 Bat, Lot Editor, Landscape Designer, Traffic Simulator, Region Census, and SC4 Deluxe Rush Hour. How do I edit existing lots? For Example, I want to get rid of the little dog eared wooden fence on Spa's wonderful lots. I want to make this building: Followed by this one: Thanks

select avenue, drag it across the water, select the RHW road 4 or the other RHW RD-6 bridge.

i get that part, I couldn't figure out what the main idea was, because there's a save button, and the file that produces is time-stamped. I guess this saves everything at once.- 15 Replies

you've gotta switch it back to an avenue or road to do a bridge or overpass.

I've never seen a frontage road faster than 25 mph in 39 states, however I've never been to texas. Of course people go faster, especially in rural areas, but the posted speed limit is always 25mph.

You can't really make a frontage road in the sense that he wants anyways because the RHW is for highway use only, and isn't supposed to have storefronts facing them. I think what he wants is the front road to have large box stores facing it, which isn't the idea in SC4 NAM. You have to make them one way front streets on both sides, and they act similarly to many of the 1950s freeway projects you see all over the US. What you need to think of when you build using the RHW and front streets is that sometime in the 1930s there was a single road where the freeway is now, and the road and adjacent stores were demolished to make way for the freeway to cut through. In modern, more rural areas you have a front street with freeway access, but in order to achieve that, you should build a carriageway over pass on a mound of dirt, then bring the front streets off the carriageway at the bottom of the mound. Keep in mind this is Sim CITY and not Sim TOWN when playing, especially building US cities. We could make pages of ways that NAM falls short, but that would be no fun. We should instead be thankful of what NAM has given us, and think, how can I adapt the town I want to make using the pieces I have. You have to play with the cards you're dealt, and I think its great because it really makes the brain tick sometimes in doing so. Personally I enjoy the frustration of building an idea up for ten hours and then not have it line up by 50 feet and starting all over again. The game never gets old. On your example anyways cowboy, given the raised track in the center of the lanes it appears like you might be more satisfied using a set of one ways and widening them to three lanes each way in the long run, because of the tones you are using and the mmps available, however, I would have to look at a much wide and longer picture of the area you're trying to build and the traffic you're trying to flow through. Good Luck.

Hi, I recently downloaded and installed NAM 34. I noticed there were a lot of differences from NAM 31. i checked the maxis override box. Right now, I've built a sunken highway (ground level project symphony highway) and am trying to cross over it using the traditional road over highway puzzle pieces. I am having no such luck. I didn't find a way to do this in the RHW Users Manual PDF, the NAM31 User's Guide Manual, or the internet. Can I not cross over project symphony? Is there a way to transition from symphony to RHW? What happened to the cool interchanges from NAM 31? Also, my rail over road is the same as NAM 31 where it doesn't cross over one ways. Do I need to reload NAM 34 but set it up differently? Right now I made a trick by switching back and forth from ground highway to avenue but it looks bad because it's in my downtown area and theres lots of overpasses. What I want to do is build a sunken highway that cuts through the middle of my downtown just like before. Is there an advantage to using symphony?

The most you're gonna pay for the US version is $19.99 plus tax from Amazon. It's a downloadable version. So once you get it, it is saved on your amazon profile, and you can download it to as many computers as you wish. I have it on 6 different computers, and have had it for years. -
It wasn't letting me plop the 'road over ground highway' or 'one-way road over highway' viaduct pieces yesterday. It kept changing to red, and kept 'bouncing' off the area where it needed to go. The game was refusing to play nice, and since it was my first day using it, I wondered if it was something anew. Today it is working fine with the viaducts. Same place, same city, same everything, so I don't know what happened. As far as the old prefabs went, they were pretty cool, because when you connected the X with the trumpet, you got I-90 to I-5 with the off-ramp on 5th Ave in Seattle at Dearborn Street, not a bad place to be. However if this is the new way of doing things, then this is the new way, and I'll create my own monster. Is there a tutorial on how to use this new highway system? Is there a way to connect it to RHW so I can widen the lanes? (4 lanes will never satisfy me, I grew up on the West Coast!) How do I use the on/off ramps? (I tried connecting a single lane one way starter into it, and it didn't work.) Also, can we still not cross an El over RD4 with a one way? Is there a way to turn an El from an El over RD4 onto an El over Road, ending the El on the RD4, and turning onto the road? Thanks in advance.

DO THIS BUT OPPOSITE! THESE ARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR RHD TO LHD. YOU WANT OPPOSITE, SO DO OPPOSITE BUT SAME, OK? Part one of two 1. Locate and go to the directory where you have installed SC4, usually it is C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe 2. Within this directory, you will see a folder name English, it should contain a file called SimCityLocale, if it does, you are looking at the correct folder. 3. Now rename this folder from English to UKEnglsh (not a typo!) Part two of two 4. From your START menu, select Run. 5. Type in regedit into the field and click OK. 6. On the left hand directory tree, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Maxis > SimCity 4 > 1.0 7. Change the Language value by right clicking it and selecting Modify. 8. Leave it as Hexadecimal and enter 13 into the Value Data field. Click OK. With these two major steps complete, your sims will now start driving on the Left! If you wish to switch from the Left to the Right - rename the folder to English in step 3, and enter 1 into the Value Data field in step 8 instead. -

You want RHD (right hand drive) instead of LHD correct? -
I would recommend you go to the BAT request thread and ask there.

Hi. Yesterday someone asked about making a giant region, and then my wife asked me about giant regions, so I went to paint and made a 360x360 region and shoved it in. that should be 90x90 large tiles. I've built numerous 18x18 large tile regions before, but have never taken on a task this big yet. Is there a computer power related concern? Can patience overcome any lag concerns? Has anyone succesfully built a region of this magnitude? Does anyone have any giant region experiences they'd like to share? The goal is to make two large cities, and see if the trains cooperate to and from eachother. I plan on placing them about 100 miles from eachother, with a few towns in between. Do I need a train station in each tile to get the sims from A to Z or can I make them skip tiles via the train like A-E? This is mostly a huge transportation challenge. There was a guy making NYC did he ever finish that? Is there anything I need to be aware of? What are your thoughts on how I should go about doing this? Thanks.

Thank you very much for the technical information. I greatly appreciate it. Perhaps someday there will be a Sim City 4: 2 made, and everything will be right with the world.....
