Love the shape of the building/s in-game, makes this lot really unique. Have you ever thought about doing the MCG for a completely different challenge?

This is a fantastic idea Bipin! There are so few excellent modern houses for SC4, but these 2 examples look beyond what I thought was possible! How many different varieties of the 'modules' do you think you'll make, and do you think you'd be able to also release non-underpass versions?

Beautiful work paeng. The detail you put into such a large space is amazing! Do you know where you got the great w2w Puma, Nike and Converse shops in the 9th picture? -
It's a personal preference really. Steam is more of a dedicated games retailer, whereas Amazon deal with a much wider range of products. But one thing worth noting on the Amazon page is this statement: So if you're from Australia, I guess there could be issues here. The last thing you want is to purchase it, and then find it won't download due to regional restrictions. Also, although I don't have first-hand experience with them, I've heard Gamersgate is a good alternative to both of these. They might be worth considering. But otherwise, in your situation, I think Steam is probably the safe bet. Thanks a lot Cyclone! That could really be a serious factor... Bundy, we're in the same boat, would you suggest I use Steam also?

So, should I buy SC4 via steam or amazon?

Really beautiful! :golly: Did you lower the ground where you placed your canal? -
I hear you OP. I have some suggestions: 1: Plan out your region, and then those cities within your region, and then those areas in your cities. Playing without planning and you'll get the grid cities where every tile looks crowded and unrealistic. You can never plan too much. 2: Look at CJ's and on Youtube. There are a large number of users on Simtropolis (mainly those who have many views to their CJ's) who make very realistic cities of all varieties. 3: Make goals. This is what will keep you playing for much longer, and keep your enjoyment up. 4: Maybe share what you make? This will encourage you to do our best work, and that way people will offer their help. Good luck mate

I agree with OP. I was excited for this; their first concept art release. http://s1.ibtimes.com/sites/www.ibtimes.com/files/styles/picture_this/public/2012/02/29/241504-sim-city-5.jpg but when I saw the final product I was very underwhelmed

SimCity next version ideas...
maximan11 replied to cshmech's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I'd start with 3 steps: 1: Be able to create your own region. 2: Snap buildings lots together. The few metre/feet between buildings just looks stupid. 3: MAKE ONLINE AN OPTION, NOT A REQUIREMENT! -
To CAM or not to CAM, that is the question
maximan11 replied to Pinstar's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The simulator uses a stage system where, as your city gets bigger and bigger, a higher proportion of your buildings will be higher stages. Stage is based on job density (jobs per tile), which means that skyscrapers are higher stages. The highest stage that maxis included is stage 8, however, any buildings bigger/more dense than the Maxis buildings should be stage 9+ but instead have to be shoved into stage 8. Without the CAM, once your city hits the point where it is building stage 8s, the simulator will build stage 8s. To it, a stage 8 skyscraper with 10,000 jobs is the same as one with 4,000 jobs. So basically if you plan on making a Manhattan styled city, the game's simulator is broken. Among other things, the CAM enables stage 9+. For your convenience, the CAM people remodded a bunch of common skyscrapers to be CAMeLots, and you can download a few giant packs to get a quite a few. Otherwise you need to check when you download a skyscraper to see whether or not it's a CAMelot or not. If it is, then good. If it's not, you have to use a tool to alter the modding. This isn't actually very hard and once you read the instructions should only take a few minutes per lot. The big CAMelot packs and the tool to easily make CAMelots is at SC4Devotion.com. I see your point, but what about when you go from stage 8 to 9+. Your beautiful HK and NYBT towers get replaced by (IMO) lower quality, taller buildings? -

To CAM or not to CAM, that is the question
maximan11 replied to Pinstar's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
For those of you in favour of CAM: I'm considering making a New York City region. I'd only want a huge skyscrapers in one city tile (the Manhattan style area). What does it add to the game besides tall buildings? There's a tonne of skyscrapers already on STEX & LEX without having to be CAMpatible. And is a CAM city realistic? Or just for those that care more for population than realism? -
I posted this a few weeks ago but got no response, so I'll repost. Does anyone know which water mod this is? https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2758 Thank you in advance

Wow! This is excellent! 1 question, on the 14th pic, on the right hand side, is that a terrain mod or have you brushed that sandy grass? It looks really realistic, great job :thumb:

What you've said is great Metalpuritan, it's wayyyyyyyy more than I was expecting for one response . I for one think your rambling is useful haha! I've already done some of the things you're suggesting (i.e download things that will see yourself using & using the 'find this' thread). I think I'll follow almost word for word what you're doing, however, arranging my plugins by function rather than author. based on what you've said, I think the datpacker will be my first download. My first of probably several more questions (no doubt I'll get lost when I get the game) is: 1: How many plugins would you download 'in a block?' I'm thinking I'll add functional and beautification mods first. Would you say download/plugin/arrange/readme maybe 5 at a time, then go into the game and see how they're working? 2: What do you mean by storage folder, a separate folder on a separate hard-drive in case you lose the original file/s? 3: Is this the most tedious and time consuming process to ever have existed?
