So my Mac has just updated itself (it's a 2011 Macbook), then there were just some Steam updates. I'm naturally weary of these updates happening, given that the last time, the "ctrl+Tab" issue was sprung on me. Now I'm having an issue where if I hover my mouse over options, I can't open it. I can open cities, but when I get in, I can't open any of the buttons, except for zoom in (+) and out (-). Help?!

Moderation notice: To try and keep everything together, three separate threads have been merged together. If you are a Mac user and have recently updated to the 64-Bit version, (both the App Store and Steam are pushing this update), then you will more than likely be having this problem. Hey yall, So I've played about 200 hours of SC4 from about March. I had some issues with plugins causing CTDs a lot, so I reinstalled NAM (as well as the game on Steam) but now I can't see half of the FLUPs, and with underground rail I can't see the entry/exit ramps as I press tab, scrolling through all of the options. I play on Mac if that's of any relevance. I wonder if anyone else has experience this issue?

NAM 37. I went through the most popular ones on STEX and LEX. Just a word of warning on Mac though, in regards to train stations. There's a glitch where some stations have a really small capacity amount due to some technical reason. You may need to look it up in this forum subsection. There's more to say but I'm just ducking in here during my lunch break

Cool. I hadn't bothered since I've been happy with the pre-NAM 37 RC. Do we still have to press CTRL+shift when cycling between FLUPS, etc.?
-
sigh. I've got a 2012 macbook, so I guess by then I'm emigrating to Windows again as I'm assuming support for this version of the Macbook is gone whenever Apple release their own processors.. If I'm still playing SC4...

In making a LV1 RHW, vast swathes of my highway are white where the tarmac should be. What's the reason for this and what's the fix?

Quite simply: my CTDs when playing (Mac-user) dramatically increase once I reach populations over 180k. Never an issue when creating a hamlet or a suburban city (CTDs normally caused by a plugin that I've identified and avoided). I thought in my old region it was an issue with the large city sizes, but it seems to affect my medium city sizes too once it hits around 180,000 residents (and about 100k commercial). I thought I could pin it with something I was doing, NAM, highway walls, plotting roads, etc. but even something as minute as scrolling causes it to CTD. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem?
-
Update: I don't think the launch options is the exact equivalent for where you enter -CPUCount 1 in Windows. But I did think, if this constant CTD could be solved by keeping CPU cores remaining at 1, this means lowering the quality of graphics demanded by the game could stave off the need to use a second core. So putting down all graphics levels to medium seems to have had some effect. My city is now up to 220k and CTD is still happening but definitely not 1 minute into loading the game.

Yeah there's "Set Launch Options", which opens a pop-up where you can type in something.

I guess the Mac version of "Properties" would be "Get Info" but it's for sure a lot more limited than the former. Could it be in Steam?
-
Could you please guide me to the Mac-version/bought on Steam/Aspyr guide to getting this done?

Hi, Just wondering if anyone's seen this before: certain items which previously were working are now causing me CTDs. The list is growing but from experience these things definitely aren't working - -some items in MAS71's walls -PEG marina -PEG garbage export -and most recently, the NAM FLUP straight path under rail. Thanks
-
Hey, It's this one - https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1504. But it's not everything inside the set that will cause CTDs for me, it's only ones where there are stairs or ramps. Same with PEG's CDK set... more "basic" ones are ok to plop, but then Marina and the Yacht Club are CTDs. https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/18749-peg-cdkm-yacht-club/

How Should Use Open Grass Area Really?
RLope replied to Propfam's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I use different kinds of open grass area - vanilla, one with a security fence, the SFBT medium wealth set that works nicely in diagonals, etc. These are where I've been placing them a lot as of late -"barriers" between zones -on slopes in lieu of slope walls I love the underground powerlines idea btw.- 10 Replies

Building in uneven terrain is a lot more difficult with RRW it seems. It's a lot more demanding in terms of keeping a level terrain - which I think is nice dash of realism.

RLope replied to RLope's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Thanks to all, especially Tarkus, for finding solutions to this problem. -
Missing items from NAM Tab-Rings (64-Bit Mac users)
RLope replied to RLope's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Hey, It seems like this works for me for roads. Doesn't work for FLUPs though? Could you confirm it works with FLUPs, underground rail, and all kinds of NAM items that require cycling using tab? Thanks -
Missing items from NAM Tab-Rings (64-Bit Mac users)
RLope replied to RLope's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Yes I was going to say that NAM 37 RC hasn't really "solved" any of the issues in terms of missing pieces - currently I'm just having to work around it. I'll hang around the forum browsing for solutions to be found. Thanks! -
Missing items from NAM Tab-Rings (64-Bit Mac users)
RLope replied to RLope's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Hey Tarkus, I'm still running NAM 36. I do remember having to update Steam recently. Perhaps that explains it? I've also been getting CTDs more frequently now, but they're not NAM related. Maybe it is a 64-bit issue. Has there been some discussion here on this issue? I've actually had issues installing the NAM 36 for Mac version. So I ended up DLing the windows version then running it through wine. Thanks -
coronavirus got me back. im still playing cause it harkens back to simpler times
