Since installing the latest NAM, I am unable to build el rail bridges over water. I've tried in as many scenarios as I can think of and nothing sticks. I am met each time with the default message of uneven terrain. In the exact same places where I am met with resistance, I am able to build road and rail bridges. When I pull out the NAM from the plugins folder I am able to once again build el-rail bridges anywhere suitable. Have any other users experienced the same thing? Or is anyone aware of a fix? Running SC4 bought from MacGameStore on a 2011 macbook air using High Sierra. Thanks in response for any replies.

Inner-City Compact Expressway / Collector Systems
rob_mtl posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hey guys! Following up from this thread where I veered a bit off-topic, I've created a new thread to discuss compact expressway/collector systems (aka frontage road systems, service roads). This is a format of expressway that was quite common in early North American urban highway systems (1950s to 1970s), which has since been replaced in many cases by the closed access express/collector systems similar to Toronto's 401. The advantage of the older system is that they fit into tight urban street grids, where city streets can cross over/under highways without the need for elaborate ramps and fly-overs. The disadvantage is that that the collector off-ramps meet intersections with the street grid and that lane changes on these segments require more driver concentration--but they're cool systems that reflect an earlier, denser type of highway construction. Here are two 1960s examples from my hometown of Montreal, the elevated Metropolitan boulevard/expressway system and the trench Décarie expressway/boulevard system: I've been trying to reproduce this using RHW with the NAM 37. There are several limiting factors, but the result is half-decent: The outside collector lanes curve inward on either side of the onramps/offramps, meaning that this system alternates between 5-tiles wide and 6-tiles wide: Keeping the intersections one tile away from the central expressway would probably be more efficient, as more perpendicular intersection could run under the elevated portion, leading to greater connectivity with the street grid. In order to avoid a bottleneck at the onramp/offramp intersection, I transitioned the RHW-6S collector into 3-lane OWR. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to do the collector/perpendicular avenue intersection with a 4-lane OWR for higher capacity. This below image shows what happens when you try: Let me know what you guys think! (expect to see a version of this in my Honestville Let's Play series on YouTube soon!) -
City loading crashes to desktop after NAM 37 installation
I.M. Corbusier posted a topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Followed all installation directions carefully, including deleting specified individual files. No install issues. I'm finding that any city I attempt to load (tried with multiple different cities from different regions) will get probably 2/3rds or 3/4ths of the way through loading process and then I get a CTD. Going back to the old version of NAM fixes things.- 28 Replies

After installing NAM 37, the game does not load. At first, everything seems to be alright, but during the process of loading, all of a sudden the game crashes. I`m using a SimCity Deluxe purchased a long time ago from Steam. Additionally to that, it seems I'm complying with all the requirements to a successful installation, but unfortunately, the game is not running. Some details: Windows 10, version later than 1.1.638 JRE installed Read all the "readme", but found not a hint about what could causing such trouble. Probably I'm making some mistake, but until now, I didn't identify it. ☹

Let's Play SimCity 4 - Honestville - 01 - Welcome to Honestville
rob_mtl posted a City Journal entry in Honestville - A NAM 37/38 Let's Play
In this first episode, I lay out the regional plan for Honestville and the road network for the central district. -
Some errors I've seen so far while using the Mac version of SimCity 4 with NAM 37. Indestructible buildings: Bulldoze something, it explodes into pieces, then reassembles itself. You are still charged for destroying the building every time you do it. Landfill roads: A landfill will show the icon indicating it's not connected to a road—even when it is. This was a real problem, because garbage was piling up in the streets although I had a working landfill. Or I thought it was working. I created another one nearby and had the same problem. The no-road icon appeared. Finally I moved further down the map and tried again and it worked. It's dangerous because landfills are expensive and hard to delete. Rob's video suggested the only way to destroy a landfill is to destroy the roads around it, but I haven't seen that work. I was able to create roads through landfill, then destroy the roads, which deleted the landfill. Reluctant firefighters: They hang around after the fire's been put out. They don't want to leave. The vertical rods remain onscreen. Unless this is part of the game, I don't know, but it's a problem because if one fire occurs immediately another, then the firefighters are unavailable to fight the new fire. Even with a large fire station, you only have two firefighters.

Are there no longer RHW ground level 4 and 6 lane neighbor connectors in NAM 37? I don't see them anymore.

I've been using NAM (Network Add-on Mod) 37 for a week, and I'm happy to report I've had no crashes or problems of any kind. This is contrary to NAM 36, which worked intermittently but then started to crash. I removed plug ins and tinkered with it. Then I couldn't even get it to load. NAM 37 is the first version to allow me to play SimCity 4 reliably on the Mac. I was never much of a gamer, but I have returned after a long absence because SimCity 4 at Steam for 4.99 was too hard to resist. I have played the game a lot during recent weeks. I'm still learning, but at least the game works now. I have many years of experience with the Mac, so I might be able to answer questions. You must have Java installed before you install NAM 37. After starting, the game takes a couple minutes to load all the plug ins. I highly recommend @rob_mtl's helpful videos at Rob's Guide to SimCity 4 at YouTube. He does an excellent and thorough job, especially on the NAM. I wouldn't know about it if not for him. I'm playing SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition (with Rush Hour Expansion Pack) version 1.2.1, bought from Steam. The following settings worked for me. I might playing around with them. This is on a mid 2011 iMac: i7 at 2.8 Ghz 32 GB RAM AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB macOs Sierra 10.12.6. Game settings: Auto go to disaster - check Edge scrolling - check Auto edge reconciliation - uncheck Urgent advice dialogs - uncheck Expanded tooltips - check Graphic options: Visual effects - medium #Cars/Sims - low Shadows - low Bulding draw speed - medium Texture quality - medium City detail - medium Cloulds/fog - uncheck Waves - uncheck UI transparency - check Color cursor - check Variable speed - check Resolution - 1600x1900 Renderer - hardware Music - off Sound - on

It's been awhile since I've played this game, and first timer for mods. I downloaded the NAM mod, and extracted it within the Plugins folder. My novice question is, when I go into the game, how do I know that the game is now under the NAM mod? I'm used to subscriptions on Steam with many other games I've played, but not familiar with downloading a mod outside of Steam. Thanks in advance for your help.

Whispers and teasers from the upcoming NAM 37 (Now Released!)
Naomi57 posted a topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Whispers and teasers from the upcoming NAM 37 This is not really release notes, and not really documentation, but merely a collection of interesting quotes, screenshots, rumours, and possibilities, of what the NAM 37 release candidate does, and what the NAM 37 release is expected to do. For me, it's a place to paste all the tantalising snippets and useful info I spot. You're very, very welcome to add to this snippet collection, too. NAM developers and subject matter experts, please feel free to clarify or expand on these snippets ... we're all ears ... and thanking you, in anticipation. ──────────────────────────────────────── If you're posting snippets and quotes here, please do include the URL to the comment or page you're quoting, so that people who want to know more can find the original conversation. Thank you!- 11 Replies

How did the installation process go for you? @xxdita in another thread asked for my feedback on the install process/stability, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet; I'm still using a copy of NAM 36.
