Whoa, you're hobbies are basically the same as mine! I find Portland buildings to be really useful in my cities since I like to have a Northwest theme going in my financial districts. Can't wait to add these new buildings, especially since my CO$$ demand is on the rise. I have one set of documents relating to Portland freeways that I'd be happy to scan for you if you are interested. It covers the proposed Mt. Hood Freeway and the widening of the Marquam Bridge. Of course, if you want something on Seattle freeways or shopping malls (my other specialty), that could be arranged. -

Just wanted to say that I had a blast at the Community Planning Day! It's too bad I couldn't spend more than 3 hours in Portland though. -

Great to hear that you're back! When is the Sim City day at OMSI? I'd love to go and it would make a great excuse to visit Portland again. -

The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1
sfobb replied to sparkythepenguin's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Wow, I didn't expect such a fast reply! Thanks! I think Lloyd Center is the best mall on the STEX but it seems kinda out of place in the middle of a downtown area. Seattle and San Francisco both have malls in their downtown areas, Pacific Place and San Francisco Shopping Center respectively, but they are more vertical with small floors rather than horizontal like Lloyd Center. Honolulu has Ala Moana Center a few blocks from the financial district; sort of like Lloyd Center before it was enclosed. Just thought I'd share this. BTW, Sim City first, school second is the motto I live by. -

Actually I meant the shopping center that is in the middle of downtown Portland, the one with Saks Fifth Ave. -

Where did you get the freeway signs in the pic? I noticed they are different from the default signs. -

Have you guys considered Pioneer Place? I think it would make a great addition to any city's downtown area. -

How about the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, Washington? http://www.wsctc.com/ Or the former Pennsylvania Station in New York, maybe even as a functional transit lot? http://www.powwmedia.com/pennsy/rrtour.htm

Thanks LakeTrash311 for helping to clarify things and yes that is kind of what I had in mind. That way you can have the utilitze the highway as an express route of sorts with a limited number of interchanges and have local traffic use the avenue that would be underneath. Guess I should stop posting stuff at 2 AM so I can at least think straight. Oh well. One aspect made sense logically at the time.

I don't think this has been requested yet but since the elevated rail over road is possible, how about an elevated highway over avenue? The H-1 Airport Viaduct in Honolulu, Hawaii is an example where a 10-lane freeway runs over a 6-lane highway. Unfortunately I don't have any pics to post but I can give a link: http://www.hawaiihighways.com/H1-viaduct-over-92.jpg

That would be a sweet looking ground highway!! I think it is more realistic to have the open railings rather than a concrete barrier on ground highways.

How did you get the one way roads to join up with the avenue?
