  1. This is a thread for posting general modding requests. If a thread already exists for something that would cover your request, then post the request in the existing applicable thread thanks, & not here. Posting a request does not guarantee that it'll be fullfilled. This thread will hopefully just serve as a thread where any/all modding-based requests can be posted, so that anyone [myself &/or others] who are capable of doing any requests posted, might have a place to see them. This is not a chit-chat thread.
  2. The main intent of this Reader Guide aims to help get you started on your way and to help you familiarise yourself with the various items in Ilive's Reader Program, nothing more. There is also a number of pictures to help with the explanations of the various functions in the Reader Program. This Reader Guide mainly gives an overview of the many items and functions in the Reader Program to the many newbies that maybe knee on doing some of their own modding, but have no idea where to get started; have no idea how to open a SC4 file; and/or have no idea what the many functions in the Reader Program may do. The following link below is the ReaderGuide Zip file itself, and is approximately 671KB in file size: Once you've finished downloading the file, unzipp it and open the ReaderGuideV3 file, preferably with InternetExplorer or other form of browser. Any comments/feedback is more than welcomed.

Ground Rail Elevated Rail Transition Credit to Ragutaro for the creation of this Transit Enabled Lot. I have but merely made some modifications to the Lot, to be English compatible. Also though, this Lot has been made UDI compatible, but only in conjunction with the NAM [Network Addon Mod ~ available from the Mods section]. In other words, you need the NAM for this Lot to be UDI compatible for EI Trains, Passenger Trains, & Freight Trains. PLEASE read the README file included for technical details regarding the UDI aspect of this Lot, as there is a certain methodology required in order to use this Lot for UDI to work. Updated info: Just some minor changes that were needed for functional purposes; & minor better visual display for the Route Query going through the Lot. Be sure to replace any existing ones that may exist in any cities (this only necessary if you have the NAM~otherwise for functional purposes it won't matter). Also though; the Capacity has been increased to 20,000 (not that it matters though, because the Lot doesn't have any impact on commute). Enjoy!
  4. Custom sound bank?

No. I'd say it is possible. If you use SC4Reader tool you can play & export UDI sounds. They're referenced in Exemplars & possibly also script file. They're classed as AB files & are similar to Need for Speed audio files. For example; TGI; 0x00000000,0x8A5971C5,0x0BBCEA12 is UDI sound file. Referenced in 0x6534284A,0x096E6739,0x108C0000 0x6534284A,0x096E6739,0x10640000 And maybe elsewhere. 0x00000000,0x8A5971C5,0x6B955C37 is UDI related but it's not fully deciphered. 5. Macs - RH Update

EDIT: A file has now been provided. Please look through this thread for the location of these file(s) &/or the URLs of these file(s). End Edit hi all you Mac fans . Just wondering if someone could help me & answer a few questions. I had originally PM'd someone regarding this, but have yet to hear from them. I've thoroughly gone through the Mac forum here, & taken a look on Aspyr site, but have been unable to find anything of sufficient relevance or help. I've noticed that there isn't really any kind of Update for RH for Macs, like Maxis did for PC users, that corrects a number of issues/bugs (namely Traffic Related), would this be correct? I know some sort of Update exists for RH for Macs, but does this actually fix any game-play issues, & if so what are they? I have never used or owned a Mac before, so if someone who has a Mac & SimCity could answer these, that'd be great thanks. 1. Plugins folder; how do they work, is there one or two of them, & is it any different from WindowsXP (WindowsXP SimCity has two Plugins folders; one under the InstallationDirectory & one under user accounts directory). 2. Does anyone know of any problems or had any problems using *.dat files at all? 3. I did have a 3rd question, but it's slipped my mind at the moment....... If someone could answer these, then I may be able to move forward with something I have, which I'm hoping will be benificial for you Mac+RH users (a possible RH Update alternative for Macs. no promises though), at which point I may be asking for testers. EDIT: I should add; main reason I've posted this is because I've seen some evidence that Macs+RH contain some of those same issues that PC versions did when it went retail.

Having trouble finding those Bus Stops? Forgotten where you built your Train Stations? Would you like a little something to help you find them? Well here it is, new and improved Dataview Modd that adds all the Transit Buildings (except Ferries) to the Traffic Dataviews. There is also of course a few other additions as well. There is a README file included which better explains the details. Enjoy Folks!
  7. Yep, have been able to see, log in & roam free. No loopy for me.
  8. A few months back I upgraded my modem/router at home & set up a home network with many connected devices. What was suppose to take an hour ended up taking several due to hitting technical issues, so I'm not surprised that SC4D's move may take longer. Can't always help the unexpected.
  9. Hi all, This tool is for editing SimCity 4 files. It includes some functionality similar to ilives Reader & also Region Census tool (ie full Region Viewing). For a full list of features, including known issues, please see the included Readme.txt. Link: SC4Reader (locate relevant version, unzip & run, no install required). The program also needs the following Microsoft's mfc.dll if you don't have it already, need to install vcredist_x64.exe &/or vcredist_x86.exe redistributable package; http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=40784 This is a WIP so any bugs/issues etc, please post detailed system specs including a detailed description of what you were doing. Any other feedback/suggestions is more than welcomed. Program source code link: source code A very special thanks to ilive & his reader source code, some of which this program is based. Feel free to ask any questions or give suggestions regarding source code. Program is written in c++/MFC. cheers :). Some basic pictures & notes now added. In the following for each (note images may not be upto date); Main Window 1. Make sure options are set before using program as some functions rely on folder settings. 2. Loaded *dat is for anything that's been opened, inserted, or virtual dat. Other is for Find functions but only for non-loaded file. 3. Just shows file names of files in plugins, install & other etc folders as per options settings. These can be selected & file loaded. 4. Virtual *dat; loads install, plugins, &/OR other as per options settings. Note: this loads header & index info only. Upon selecting item in main list it will load what it needs for item selected. 5/5b; Displays item info for item selected in main TGI List. 5b can edit TGI. 6/6b; cross-checks TGIs against Install &/or Plugins as per options settings. Depending on size of plugins & PC specs, full scan may take 30+minutes & generates a *.txt file with possible conflicts. 6 does a comprehensive scan, 6b only scans what's been selected in a loaded *dat. Options Window 1. Add folder/file type; you can add multiple folders/files here. For folders, the program will automatically search subfolders so you don't need to add them separately & doing so may cause problems. The rest of the options should be self explanatory. Changes to settings do require program be restarted. Display Type: Default/Hex/Text; Default = default mechanism how the program handles TGI item. Files like RUL are not handled like a text file by the program, but you can choose Text here to view/edit like a text file. Error Message; Shows error message on exit if program had an issue loading a *dat type file. You should check the logging.txt for details if you encounter this. TGI/Plugins scanner; 1. Is the main file being checked against. 2. Shows other info including (other) files currently cross checking against 1 above. These will get repeated (in case of Plugins scanner) as program loops through each file cross checking against each other file. TGIs.ini file (located in settings folder) This file contains settings relating to assignment & descriptions of TGI items for the program (including for the main list, Filter, Search functions & Tree). This file can be added to &/or changed by end-user if necessary. Crash Reporting If program crashes the following should appear; You'll need to click on link in the 1st window to display 2nd; Export function will save contents of dump, XML & screenshot to zip file. Feel free to upload that here. This should help me pinpoint any issues with crashing/hanging.
  10. SC4Reader Tool

v1.5.5 Object Viewer added for: FSHs, Menu Icons, S3Ds, Cursors, Texts. Several memory leaks fixed. This will only load relevant items from both Install & Plugins folders based on reader options. ie It won't load anything from a loaded file. Access via Tools -> Object Viewing FSH viewing in various options. Be aware DirID/Size viewing may take several minutes to load depending on number of fsh's. Be aware S3Ds may be PC intensive when scrolling.
  11. SC4Reader Tool

v1.5.4 SC4Reader Only bug fixes for this release resulting from updating to 64bit, some of which are for; -Data searching. -Property searching. -S3D. -GUI display. -RUL tile viewer. -Virtual *dat to file conversion (just make sure not to use on things like NAM). A *.temp file will now be used to faciliate for saving.
  12. SC4Reader Tool

1.5.3 update info; S3D several new functions, improvements & look - big shout out & credit to "rivit" for his significant contribution around this. Image horizonal/vertical flip. Currently does not save flip. 64bit version released. Project source code significantly updated/adjusted due to 64bit update. v153 32bit - this is existing version & more stable. v153 64bit - 64bit version can load/save much larger files however may have unknown/undiscovered issues/bugs. Please post if you encounter any. Users may notice a significant jump in file size. This is largely due to 3rd party & overall project update.
  13. SC4Reader Tool

Update v152 RULs->S3D: S3Ds should now be displayed as per RUL rotation & flip (excluding bridge RULs). Text files Search/load TGI & IID by FileType added. For example INI networks -> Bridge Exemplars & Tile Verifiers. This works by highlighting text & right mouse click & search. Note IID by FileType function will return first IID found. Effects files; Search/load IID by FileType added. Only works for certain tabs & columns. TGI Mass Edit bug fix. Region View Export Stats function added. Export TGI info function added. Can be found in standard exporting functions. Last 2 items will export data to a single text file & can be easily copied/pasted/imported into excel.
  14. SC4Reader Tool

Update v151 Options dialog exit confirmation added. Main dialog maximise display issue fix. Open/Save dialogs foreground fix.
  15. Big-tile cities

size of the lots is a significant factor. case in point: I have a ~200K city in which the majority of RES zones is only 1x1. So when I go to do anything network/route/etc related, well lets just say game doesn't like it compared to a city of same size that's not built like this.
  16. Which plug-ins folder to use?

To be honest, not sure about Macs. I should probably buy 1 one day, does an iphone count . anyway..... There are several places the game will legitimately play plugins (ie *dats) from & there is more than 1 "Plugins" folder. There is a loading order etc & a thread on it somewhere. If you're going to be the only user though, if you're using 'a' plugins folder it doesn't matter a great deal though others will say otherwise. Following also have some interesting info for plugins folder locations; https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=16799.0
  17. In game menu problems

screenshot plz. not going to get help otherwise. Edit: and I just realised this is few weeks old
  18. As rsc204 has said above, the folder has duplicate files. I've loaded this as a Region & as you can see (below), images overlap but also there are duplicate City GUIDs. So I'm not surprised the game has issues when you go to load the region. Unless you sift through these files manually, the game will most likely permanently screw up your region. Make sure you keep backup.
  19. SC4Reader Tool

Can you please post your PC specs & also screenshot of the error? Thanks :). EDIT: if you're getting a crash report if you could save & upload that it will help me better pinpoint the problem. cheers
  20. Data View Building Highlight

*I think from memory*..... want to look at the DataView Exemplar files, specifically TGI 0x6534284a, 0x690f693f, 0x4a0b6807 for power & maybe property 0x4A0B47E9. But often, some things like this are a combination of multiple properties not just one on its own ie other properties also have influence.
  21. On either ilives Reader or SC4Reader both tools have a compare *.dat option. Simply load both files (old & new) to compare. In saying this they only compare on hex by hex basis, so not the most user-friendly way to compare. Probably just easier to load both side by side & compare bit by bit yourself .
  22. Issue running iLive's Reader v1.4

    ahuh ^^ & v154 is the latest/last version https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=10417.msg498883#msg498883
  23. What reader is the lastest?

just to reaffirm what rsc204 has stated; iLives Reader: most recent version is actually v154 https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=10417.msg498883#msg498883 (comes as an installer) & will most likely be the last, unless someone else decides to update it. My old (WinXP) hard drive seems to have finally died & while source code is available online my programming environment for that was on there & requires quite a lot of updating to the source code to continue coding under unicode. v093 was probably the last/best version before ilive updated it to newer interface, which some don't like. SC4Reader tool; current version is v150, released only few days ago. Has a Regional Map viewer & Plugins scanner among many other things. Both tools are quite useful in their own right.
  24. SC4Reader Tool

Update v150 UI Editing. ie remove, add, editing line items etc via dialog &/or right mouse click. gui_tags.xml file added to assist UI editing. This xml file can be edited. Minor UI improvements. Some short comings still exist though.
  25. ditto. I've had a very quick/brief look at the source code & yeah, I'm gobsmacked. Very impressed. x^ for your efforts.
