I'm not quite sure I understand you, but if you're looking for cheap and dirty housing then you might like this pack that the LBT made almost 10 years ago (...pretty long time ago) (you must be registered first). As for CS$$$ buildings, I don't have any plans regarding them for the moment. Who knows, maybe I'll model some in the future. Thank you! Yes, I know that having too many dependencies drives people away (myself included), so I'm only sticking to one prop pack (LBT mega prop pack) for all my future uploads. Yeah, in terms of type I'd say there aren't that many CS buildings in general, but I might be mistaken. Also, in terms of density, more medium density buildings are needed. Lastly, I also tend to model what I need most in my cities.... I'd like to hear what everyone thinks is needed the most though! **** I'm uploading the pack in a bit, gonna have dinner first. Here are the latest pictures. Only some minor changes.

I like it! But, is it just me or does it look a bit oversized? Well, compared to the Maxis homes, I guess anything looks oversized...they are after all quite undersized.

Thanks! Your suggestion is very much appreciated and I will follow it, it's always good to hear from locals. I did read about the hipsters living there...reminds of me Barranco in Lima, it's also full of hipsters, very nice district nonetheless.

@rathefalcon: Thanks! Yes, I think most a lot of buildings in Buenos Aires are quite versatile and could fit well in most western countries. @JP Schriefer: They are indeed. Plus, they don't look too terribly complicated to BAT, which is good for me **** I'll probably close the poll either tomorrow or on Sunday. For now, it seems that the limean colonial pack will be the winner. In-game pictures: Some notes: - I'm including two versions of the corner building as you can see: version 1 includes a small house and version 2 includes a small parking lot. These types of "informal" (can't find the precise word) parking lots are very common in many latin american cities, especially so in downtown areas/historical centers. - I tried to use the maxis store facades for the 1x3 building but they didn't look too good IMO. So, apart from a CO$$ version, I will include two more versions: a functioning parking garage and a fire station, as suggested by matias93. - For the smallest building, I'll also include a R$$ version.

@korver: Thanks man! **** I changed my mind about the next pack. I'm creating a poll so that you guys get to choose which pack I should work on next. I'm giving you three choices: CS$$ Pack Limeño 1: Restored colonial buildings in the historical center of Lima that now serve as retail stores Example: ID/IM Pack Brasileiro 1: Old and grimy w2w warehouses from Brazil. No particular city. Example: R$$($?) Pack Capitalino 1: One to two story homes located in Colonia Roma, Mexico city. Example:

@rsc204 and @JP Schriefer thank you guys! Thanks! That's actually the idea, this last building will be part of the CO$$ pack porteño 1, which shall include the following buildings (all based on real buildings located in Buenos Aires): I could include additional buildings to make it more complete, but I get easily bored from batting similar type of buildings... Plus, I want to move forward and start with another small pack that I have in mind...You'll find out soon enough.

The last building in the pack is finally done: reference To my surprise, the texture of the slanted roof, which is one of the default maxis textures that comes with GMAX, looks pretty decent. I only had to modify it slightly. I also have yet to bat the small building next to it (this one) so that both buildings fit perfectly in a 1x2 lot. I'll be releasing the pack hopefully this weekend.

I don't comment much on CJs, but wow, I have browsed through your CJ and I truly think you've reached the pinnacle of what SC4 has to offer. You're right up there with Yann's Corsica CJ, if not better, yeah, probably better. Well done!

Oh, I like it! I should be able to make it, it would be my largest project ever. But, this project would be a long term goal, so don't expect it anytime soon. I want to focus on much need "filler" buildings for now. Ah, another great but now inactive batter...(as far as I know). I'd love to reach his level soon! I agree, I want to pick warehouses that are as versatile as possible. Thanks! I don't know what I would do without google street view... No rush man, it's also nice that you're working on other things. It really is a phenomenon that occurs in many other cities unfortunately... And don't worry, I like reading other people's thoughts on topics such as this one, and I'm sure others do too. So, no need to stop. ¡Muchas gracias, me alegro que te gusten mis BATs! I do want to try to cover as many latin american cities as possible, but it will take some time as I'm basically a "one man army". I have heard of Colonia Roma before, and I think the LBT even made a couple of buildings based on that neighborhood. I will certainly explore it more in detail.

Oops, forgot to reply to you! Thanks, yeah you're right, a lot of industrial buildings that have been released are based on the US. I was thinking of modeling w2w (surprise, surprise) warehouses like these in Brazil. Personally, I think they can fit in almost any setting, and they would be quite useful for me to quickly provide jobs in mostly residential neighborhoods (I've been having some problems with commute times). Hopefully you can finish your projects soon, I'm always looking for new ID buildings. I can imagine that one may need to do extra maintenance or changes when owning an older house (I myself have never lived in an old house). With all the changes in your house that you've mentioned, it would be interesting to model a building in its original state (I'd use old photos as reference) and in its current state... but it's just a thought.

Hm, yes, it would fit quite nicely I think. You did an amazing job btw, huge fan of w2w buildings. Yeah, always gotta consider earthquakes for basically everything...Part of life. I hadn't even thought of all these ideas! I'll make sure to include different versions of this particular building. I could even release it by itself, still gotta decide on that.

@Jasoncw: Makes sense, just a couple of weeks ago a cornice fell on a pick up truck here in Santiago (here's the video if anyone is interested). How lucky can you be to have an accident like that hm? **** Another one. Nothing too special about it. Reference I had originally intended to model both this building and the tall one to the right of it (see link) -- which was the "main" building -- so that they'd fit on a 2x3 lot. But I decided to widen this building a bit so that it fits nicely in a 1x3 lot. I'm thinking of also making it into a parking building, like the real one. Also, not sure how I feel about the windows on the roof. For the last building in the pack, I intend to do a corner building, probably a neoclassical one or a more modern "ugly" building.

@simlacroix Interesting, it really is a shame that such changes happened. I do wonder why the ornementations and details were intentionally removed, there must have been a reason right? I'll keep in mind what you said for future BATs.

Matias93 Unexpected Mod Workshop
Adrianor replied to matias93's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I like this concept but I do agree that it looks a bit too dark. A lot of times in SC4, we have to deviate from reality so that it looks better in game, as you may know. As to how to wealthify the sidewalks, it would indeed be a good idea to add patterns, something like the picture below. Also, note how you can see grass or weed growing between the cobblestones. Maybe you can try to emulate this for the low wealth version to show lack of maintenance? But I don't know if this might too detailed for SC4, I'd have to see how it looks in game. -
@matias93 Yep, exactly. Thanks for invoking the "che's" @Manuel-ito It would actually be interesting to model a building like you've described, with the original facade and a newer structure @simlacroix Ah, I see, that's good to know. So, I guess I can include at least one larger, taller building in the pack to reflect this chaos that you mention, which I think is also widespread in many latin american countries. *** The 2nd building in the pack. I might change the window textures to give it more life. Reference.

@Gn_leugim Thanks, glad you like them. I will stick to making mid density buildings for now ***** Ok, so I'm done with batting buildings from Santiago for now. I said I'd focus on Lima in one of my earlier posts...but, change of plans. I was exploring Buenos Aires in google street view and there are so many beautiful buildings with older architectural styles (e.g.: neoclassical) in Buenos Aires, it's insane. So I will be focusing first on the the CO$$ Pack Porteño (Argentina) 1, which shall include medium density w2w buildings. Here's the first one: Reference Yes, I removed the graffiti -- buildings like this one shouldn't be covered with them! Also, I could include a R$$$ version of this building.
