What do you want in Cities: Skylines?
Bastet69008 replied to AidanA28's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
It's really great to see such involvement for this game. We didn't have so many suggestions when SimCity4 was released, and I'm not even talking about the last one that doesn't even deserves to be called SimCity IMO. Anyways,my 2 cents for this thread.. Transportation -VLT/Cablecars/Tramways: I heard they were scheduled to be released by paradox, so I'm really counting on you guys on that one -BRT Bus Rapid Transit system corridors. This system is extensively used in Latin America, major Asian cities and to a lesser extent Europe and North America. Would be a great alternative to conventional bus lines. -Elevated Rail- again, common in many cities all over the world, a great tool to get rid of those traffic jams and give neighbors big headaches because of noise pollution. -Bullet trains (Shinkansen, TGV,AGV, ICE,Acela Express countless examples to bring more tourism in the city) -Tunnels, again I heard they were scheduled to be released by paradox -A TOOL TO CREATE CUSTOM ROADS-AVENUES-HIGHWAYS, etc Regarding the Highways, it would be great to have the possibility of shrinking their size or making them bigger. Some cities have small 2 lanes highways, while some major cities (especially in North America) have 4 or even 6 lanes like some sections of Highway 401 in Ontario,Canada. -Some highways have dividers, they can be plain grass, steel or concrete barriers bushes and trees, etc.. It is possible to plop some trees and bushes in the middle for the moment but it would be great to include other types of dividers, which is not possible for the moment, since parks cannot be plopped next to highways. -Ramps, many major cities have more than one off ramp (right now I'm thinking Los Santos ) but there are plenty of examples in real life too, would be useful to have 2-lanes off ramps (or more) to manage traffic on the outskirts of the city. Regarding the roads, same thing as the highways, making larger avenues would be great like the Champs Élysées in Paris, Avenida de los Insurgentes in Mexico City, the 9 de Julio in Buenos Aires or the Las Vegas Boulevard. The game offers 3 climate variations but only includes one set of trees for the decoration of the roads. For those of us who want to create cities in colder areas or tropical areas, it would be great to add more trees option for the road medians (pines, palm trees, etc) and the sidewalks Architecture -We end up with an American suburban home standing next to a small Western European detached house, next to a tenement whose place belongs to places like Greece, Turkey or the Middle East, next to a futuristic Japanese style high rise next to another futuristic style building that you would only see in places like Dubai or Qatar. Like aparrot7 said, it would be awesome to have ‘’building packs’’, sorted by style (North American, Latin American, Western European Eastern European, Middle Eastern, East Asian, Southeast Asian, AUS/NZ style, etc). This is a tool that was once offered in SimCity3000, where you had the possibility of choosing between North American style buildings, Western European style and East Asian style. This would greatly increase the realism of the city. This tool could be included before starting the game. -Similarly to SC4, add the ‘’Make historical’’ option to a building, to prevent it from evolving into something else (nope I’m not talking about Pokemon here). It could be a factor to attract tourists. -The game still lacks a little bit of variety of buildings, lots of repetition but my main concern is that height restriction of the default buildings. If you want to build a major metropolis, you end up with an ocean of high-rises with similar heights like Sao Paulo. This is Cities: Skylines, we want skyscrapers! Zoning Increase the size of the zones, would be awesome for Modders in order to add more stuff to our objects and to build bigger parks! Tourism I second Ocram Seattle on this. Also, we have an option for tourism, but apart from a stadium a few parks and some monuments, tourists are bored!! We need Hotels where they can stay, casinos where they can waste their money and make us richer (if legalized in the city of course), theme parks so that their children can get wasted on ice cream and candies and more shopping options where women can satisfy their cravings for shoes and guys waste their pocket money on PS4/XBOX/PC games Including festivals and hosting major events in the ‘’Policies’’ menu could also be interesting to boost tourism and the economy as a whole. General Gameplay -Review data for the buildings. My first city had 18,000 inhabitants and had a tons of high rises, it looked like a city of 100,000! Some buildings have 10 or 15 floors but can only accommodate 20 households, the apartments there must be huuuge! Would be good to change the data to accommodate more/less households per residential building -Day/Night Mode : Considering the 10-seconds length of one day in the game, it would be tough to adapt the gameplay depending on the hours of the day (higher commuting traffic in the morning and the evenings, almost no cars during nighttime, etc.), but it would be great to have this version for eye-candy purposes by putting nightlights on the sidewalk and illuminating the buildings (like SC4) -Seasonal Mode, especially for Temperate and Colder climates, with trees changing color (and why not, a modification of the indicator of tourism) -Rain/Snow Mode, not much to say about this one Sorry for the extensive use of bold- 307 Replies

The Golden Tulip :) Will this be the very first BAT to hit Cities Skylines? -
Thank you, Paradox.

I couldn't leave SC4, but I wanted to try something new..The only decent city builder I use apart from SC4? Tropico! Why is that? I tried SimCity Societies, I hated it. I tried SimCity 2013, I hated even more..I was so disappointed. I thought Cities XXL could have been a great alternative..A mere copy of Cities XL with slightly better graphics. And then came....Cities Skylines!!! yeahhh! Apart from thanking you for such a great game, (I'm also part of the ones who forgot to eat yesterday because of you guys ) thank you for interacting with the community, we really appreciate it and hope our feedback could help you improving the game! There are some things we probably pointed out like bugs/glitches, tools that should be added etc..I sincerely hope we could have a discussion here on Simtropolis to make Cities Skylines the true successor SimCity4 -
Definitely a tough choice here but I'll go with Huston for using his own custom content Huston - 2 SimCoug - 0

You should have browsed it prior to say that Konstantin, Russia has the 2nd highest abortion rate in the world, only second to Greenland, which is not a country...(check the United Nations data on that) Having said that, I'm pretty sure that our Moose friend was being a little sarcastic on that..Russia like many countries is a victim of its..pretty agitated history. That's it. Most countries on the planet faced events in their history that are responsible for some negative views that still exist today.. A Nonny Moose could have said that about Italy with the mafia, or our neighboring country in the South the U.S. The main problem here IMO is that we receive few news from Russia, and when we do, it's always about negative things, like problems with the mafia, corruption scandals, terrorism and separatism in the Caucasus, it really doesn't help. I don't know what this guy has done or hasn't done. Western Media mostly pointed out the fact that he was part of the opposition, and of course, this is the kind of statement that will indirectly make the readers and viewers think that Putin and the ruling party is behind the death of Nemtsov.
