  4. STEX CD Volume 1 - Now Available!

Date: 8/16/2005 8:41:35 PM Author: TowlieMatrix Date: 8/16/2005 12:11:00 PM Author: redman042 I just got my STEX CD but am having a bit of trouble with it. The file browser opens fine, but once I start browsing content, it will load a couple of images and then lock up. The CD drive keeps spinning and accessing, but nothing more happens even after waiting 10 minutes. I have to force a close in Windows to get out of it. I've tried using the supplied browser, IE, and Firefox, and the results are the same. I seem to be able to manually browse the content through Explorer, but I just tried to search for jpg images on the CD and even Explorer locked up. Sounds like I may have a corrupt disk. Please help!quote> I have a pretty fast machine and it takes about 20 seconds to load 'All Files 1' completely. Maybe a few seconds less but on a slower machine it could take a while. If you were to browse a data CD full of digital pictures it would take a long time for those to load thumbnails too. It could take a loooooong time to load on anything less than 512rAm. But what do I know. My suggestion would be to relax for a while. Hopefully there aren't bad CD's out there. Now to my other thoughts on the CD. 1. Dependencies not on CD. Ugh. And to make the CD easy to use you should just install all the denpendencies so you don't have to go back and forth matching BATs/Lots with their depens. This only makes it more frustrating that the depens. aren't on the CD. 2. Some files are loose and ready for the Plugins and others are in folders. Some are install type files. This means I end up doing as much clicking and saving as I did directly from the STEX. I imagine the files were packaged as they were uploaded on the STEx, so this doesn't seem to have an easy solution. 3. The browser is great. It works great, and it looks great. But it doesn't seem to allow for quick and easy file transfers. A simple drag and drop type transfer would be fastest. Being able to select any number of folders and drag them into the Plugins folder would be even greater. 4. Without the dependencies on the CD I can't get anymore to give them as gifts, or share it with those with awful cleeeeeee-cleedonk-edonk dial-up connections. All that said, thank you for a CD that will be veerry useful when my comp. goes on strike again. *crosses fingers, knocks on wood*
  5. CityTravel Center

    Looks awesome!! Keep it up!
  6. STEX CD Volume 1 - Now Available!

Sorry Jessyka, I don't mean to be rude, but I got my cd today. Yay. The interface looks pretty cool, my laptop is old and works slow, can't wait to get it home on the real puter. Looks cool so far, too bad the dependecies couldn't be included on the CD. Thanks Dirk and the contributors. I will continue to donate to show my thanks.
  7. Smoother road and rail slope mod

Been playing with the ANT network, it makes some really great long slopes with this mod. I hate that level 1 smooth tool all the way zoomed in!! Ugh! This will save me many headaches. Great addition!
  8. MPM Morgan Plaza Station

Looks and sounds cool so far, I can't wait to check this out...
  9. STEX CD Volume 1 - Now Available!

I recently donated $ to ST, actually more than the CD price. I probably have all but the unreleased material too. Without hesitation though I will donate again, just to recieve this CD. And to, in the only real way I am capable, support a site which I enjoy so much. This is for the contributors This is for Dirk Thank you
  10. Mapp Squad Rhiannon

oops, I meant one more excellent tijn21 map. ;)
  11. Mapp Squad Rhiannon

...to add some life around the coastlines. It is too difficult once the map is rendered to make shoals and stuff. It is an easy edit but I'm curious. Either way, that's one more excellent tinj21 map. Thanks.
  12. Mapp Squad Rhiannon

Another absolutely beautiful map. But what else is new? You continue to give me excellent maps and for that I thank you. One question though. Why is the water always so deep right off the land. I always have to edit the jpeg to make the water shallow enough...
  13. Goober Elementary School

It does look a lot like Springfield Elementary, ala The Simpsons. I can't have enough schools, thanks SG
  14. The Palm Jumeirah Dubai

Expensive? Nahh. Pricey? Not so much. Astronomical? That's much better. I'm curious to render this, and see how it turns out compared to the other 'Palms'. Good lookin' so far.
  15. The Palm Jumeirah Dubai

Collectively, the island will support more than 60 luxury hotels, 4,000 exclusive residential villas, 1,000 unique water homes, 5,000 shoreline apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities, health spas, cinemas and various dive sites.
  16. 2x2 Griswold CT

Hey cool, I know this place. Check out: http://www.griswold-ct.org/ for some inspiration. Funny, this website looks like it could be a CJ!! Thanks bro, these last two maps I will enjoy building on for sure..
  17. Geico Building

I've made plenty of lots, and a few pretty crappy/basic BAT's. I have not shared them however, I don't need to get flamed by some members. Keep working at it Krao, you can only go up from here. Hope to see some more..
  18. 3x3 Middletown CT

I love the smaller maps, currently I am obsessed with traffic routes and othe modes of transportation. This will make for another nice option when I fill up another small map. Thanks bro, I'll take any other jpeg's you got for small maps...
  19. Joes Diner

I like this diner a lot. The concrete-y texture is just fine for this lot. It would even fit next to some light industrial lots. Good job, I'll enjoy this for sure
  20. Under Bridge Scenery

I haven't been glued to a thread like this in a long time. BuddyBud you are doing some really awesome work, very inspiring. You make it very easy to follow and attempt what you have done here. I've got the following part down, still working on my own versions tho. Thanks dude
  21. CS Automata Order 107

This would look cool as a ocean city bus, with the cool wavy pattern and all. Now, if it were only possible to use different busses in different cities without having to change the files. I like this one and the yellow bus a lot!!
  22. Alien Pad

Any chance you would make a larger crop circle lot, maybe a few variations? Crop circles are interesting and I'd like to try and incorporate them into a city, but I can't use it with a spaceship and the light thingies. Cool idea!
  23. CS Automata Order 103

Is this bus from an actual place, Caldez, or is it for/from a CJ? Really great bus, I'm going to check it out right now.
  24. Yuengling Brewery

yay Black & Tan's!!!! Great BAT.
  25. Wall of cement

This is great. Any more in the works? :)
