If you are running the Disc version, check out It is highly advisable that you purchase the Steam version of SimCity 4, as it has far fewer issues than the App Store version. For one the Steam version isn't sandboxed, so plug-ins are easy to install, and you can utilize the terrain/mapping files for your regions. Download NAM from LEX Download If you are running the Steam Version, there is no need to move any files to make the plugins work, they just will. For the App Store version, you will need to move the contents of the newly created Plugins Folder to "~/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.simcity4.appstore/Data/Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins" (use Command + Shift + G to easily navigate to the folder). There are no special setups, no tweaks to perform, no modifications needed to get either Digital version to run. However, the Aspyr port seems to have a limit as to the number of files you can have in the plugins. No one knows for sure, except that the Steam version has a higher value than the App Store version, and both are significantly reduced when your system isn't connected to the Internet.

Unfortunately, these are the major reasons that if you wish to have any real fun with SC4 on a Mac, you should invest in the Steam Version. Enter your entire path to your BMP file within quotation marks, that is how you should be able to solve it, otherwise enter "\" before spaces.

Apple Will Release Arm MacBooks Tomorrow and The Effects on SimCity 4
TEG24601 replied to Propfam's topic in SC4 Mac Users
With Rosetta 2, it is highly unlikely that anything will need to be done. However, given the popularity, it is likely that Aspry may re-compile for a native solution. -
Never buy the AppStore version. It is far too locked down and difficult to mod. The Steam Version will function just like your Disc did, you don't even have to move the plugins.

AFAIK, the only limitation to running NAM on PPC Macs is the installer. You could certainly extract/install the application on a windows computer (or Virtual PC install of XP) and copy it over. That is what I did for 6 years on my PowerBook.

You can also locate plugins in ~/Documents/Sim City 4 -

99% of the Mods are compatible. So long as they don't use DLL files, you are good. Those that come in EXE format you will need to use FileJuicer to extract the files, or use WineSkin to run the extractor/installer.

Find any minor bugs or game quirks? Post them here!
TEG24601 replied to wallacet's topic in Cities: Skylines Technical Help Q&A
The only major issues I have is actually similar to those I have with CIM2. The main menu, when loading, doesn't display correctly. I actually can't read it, but do see entries, and once I get the game going, everything loads fine. The second thing, is that after a few hours, the game seems to bog down, and I have to save an quit, lest I get the spinning beachball of death, like I do in CIM2. -
More and more US freeways offramps are ending in roundabouts, it works quite well. There are also many large format interfaces between surface streets and freeways that are actually just squished roundabouts. This to me is the future of interfaces, SPUI's and Roundabouts, and only one of those can currently be constructed in Cities: Skylines.

Questions regarding graphic settings
TEG24601 replied to Pepe The Great's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
1 - Tilt Shift 2 - This is on purpose so you know where the pollution is. 3 - Not planned, but with enough demand it could be coming. Of course, this was one of my least favorite aspects of SC4. -
What Are Your System Specs?
TEG24601 replied to Mystrelia's topic in Cities: Skylines Technical Help Q&A
MacBook Pro Retina Quad Core i7 2.6Ghz, 16GB RAM Intel Graphics 4000 with 1GB and GeForce 650M with 1GB Your setup should be fine. -
What do you mean exactly? AFAIK you simply place them in the Plug-ins folder.
-
It is going to be within the Package Contents of the .Appstore file that is the game.
-
All you should need to do is press "ESC" to deselect whatever tool you have selected, that would be the only reason you couldn't do it anymore.

App Store SC4 - is it updated with all patches
TEG24601 replied to cardiomonkey's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Nope. It is ready to go. Just read the other posts about installing plug-ins, it gets a bit tricky with the AppStore version, vs the Steam version. -
Installing grayscale maps on App Store SC4 in Yosemite
TEG24601 replied to humanleague's topic in SC4 Mac Users
Due to Sandboxing of App Store games, you must either place your .bmp file within the .appstore folder, or you have to use the full path for the location of your files. You also have to enter the path in the Cheat bar, and just start with / (which indicates the root directory of your hard drive). -
I have not tried it, but I found a Localization string in the info.plist that you can change to United Kingdom, which may change the driving sides, while retaining the English writing. It is inside the Application proper at ~/Library/Steam/SteamApps/Common/SimCity 4 Deluxe/SimCity™4 Deluxe.app/Contents You will need Xcode installed to manipulate the plist file.

Download the NAM installer for Mac. Run the Installer. There is nothing else that needs to be done. You'll find the download on the STEX here - All your mods will be in ~/Documents/Sim City 4/Plug-Ins (~ meaning Home Folder, not Root Folder)
-
All you need is NAM for Mac. All of those mods are included, and you can select/deselect others that you want or don't want.

Mac SimCity 4 Deluxe • What's So Deluxe about this?
TEG24601 replied to ChasboSim's topic in SC4 Mac Users
The "Deluxe" refers to the fact that is includes the Rush Hour expansion pack. What you need to do is download and install the NAM from the STEX, and that will give you the awesome mods you are looking for. The MGB mod you mentioned, requires NAM to function. -
There used to be an issue with elevated routes/TE Lots in the NAM, but those were largely fixed with NAM 30 and 31. There are issues, regardless of platform, with TE Lots (like stations) and plopable networks (GLR and their stations). I haven't tried the new Toll Booths, but have downloaded them, and will try and report back. BTW - Did you install your version through Steam or the App Store?

Does anyone know if the Sims 2 App Store release is compatible with SC4?
TEG24601 replied to 1131989's topic in SC4 Mac Users
I do not believe that it is due to the App Store's (IMHO: stupid) sandboxing rules. -
Odd. I have not encountered any issues with TE lots, unless I hover over them with other TE lots, which is common regardless of platform. Some examples may be of use to try to track down the issues.
