  1. DSC - Rail & Hybrid - Class 800s

    DESCRIPTION This pack contains eight individual versions of Class 800s, in two types, Passenger, and Hybrid Rail/Monorail. The Class 800s are a variety of multiple units operating in the United Kingdom, based off the Hitachi AT300 platform, and were introduced to replace the aging Intercity 125 and 225 HST sets used since the late 60s. Each DAT contains a single locomotive and coach, all have HD textures and nightlighting. INSTALLATION There are two folders, labelled Passenger and Hybrid-Monorail. Drag ONE file only from either/both folders into your Plugins folder. COMPATIBILITY Every DAT contains one REPlacement loco and coach for it's respective network type, replacing the vanilla Maxis automata. Make sure to remove any other REPlacement automata before using these to avoid clashes. DEPENDENCIES No hard dependencies.

    DESCRIPTION This file contains four sets of freight automata, of types commonly seen in use across the UK rail network. The four features are Coal Hoppers (with empty and full variants), Cargowaggons, Box Wagons (with empty and full variants), and 102t tanker wagons. Each type also has a caboose variant with a warning light for night-time running. There are 10 variations of wagon per type, the exception being the cargowaggons, which have 12 variations. All automata have HD textures. Each wagon type will ADD automata, no REPlacements. The cabooses are REPlacements for the Maxis caboose. INSTALLATION Install into the 'Plugins' folder as usual. I would recommend making a folder just for these freight automata, to help keep things organised for future packs. If a freight type has an 'Empty' or 'Full' version, you can use either DAT separately, or use both for more variation. Use only one caboose file at a time. These wagons are also compatible with vanilla Maxis freight wagons. However, If you wish to hide the vanilla Maxis freight wagons, move the included blocker file into the same folder as well. COMPATIBILITY Each set can be used on it's own, for a more consistent rake of wagons, or mixed together in any combination for mixed freight consists. IIDs start at 0xF94C1000 and will also be compatible with vanilla maxis freight wagons, and other freight wagon mods not using the same IIDs.     DESCRIPTION This file contains one set of passenger rolling stock, consisting of three locomotives and four passenger coaches. "DSC Rail's fledgling passenger set consists of a range of coach types for various usages. Including single and double-decker coaches, a sleeping coach and an observation coach, popular with sight-seeing tours, these sets can operate either as a multiple unit, or hauled by a dedicated locomotive." These are HD and come with nightlighting. INSTALLATION Drag the folder into your 'Plugins' folder, or installed with SC4PAC. COMPATIBILITY This is a single DAT, containing a REPlacement for the default Maxis passenger locomotive and coach, two ADDitional locomotives and three ADDitional coaches. The REPs will interfere with any other mod that replaces the default Maxis passenger loco and coach. The ADDs should not clash with any existing mod. DEPENDENCIES No hard dependencies. Use Dark Nite for the best results for nightlighting.

    This file has replaced the outdated 'Class 156 Pack 1' file. DESCRIPTION This pack contains 28 liveries based on the Class 153 railcar and 156 DMU sets. These classes of multiple unit are designed to run as single or two-car sets and were introduced to replace aging DMU units, and locomotive-hauled sets on routes with lower passenger numbers, or to compliment already busy routes with additional capacity. These 28 livers are also included as a pack of Track Checker vehicles, which will give the appearance of single-coach railcars traversing your networks. INSTALLATION There are two folders, 'Passenger' and 'Track Checkers'. Drag only ONE DAT from the 'Passenger' folder to your plugins folder, and the DAT in 'Track Checkers' if desired. COMPATIBILITY All 28 Passenger livers contain 1 REPlacement for the vanilla Maxis passenger locomotive and coach. Please use only one REPlacement at a time to avoid clashes. The Track Checkers are ADDitional variants which can be safely used with other track checker mods, ith examples being my Tesmec, and Class 33 Track checkers. This will not replace the original vanilla Maxis Track Checker Please use Hardware rendering mode when using these automata. DEPENDENCIES This mod has no dependencies. The original carriage model for v1 was kindly provided by Girafe, and was used with his permission.

  6. DSC - ElRail - Glasgow Subway 2nd & 3rd Generations

    Matia93 is 100% correct, and that is the main reason i've only focused on el-rail for 'subway' automata. I did make an updated version of the subway automata here: I am unlikely to ever release subway-only automatas just for how little they would be seen. But if you have the ability to, you have my permission to modify or make a subway-only version for personal use only.

    DESCRIPTION This file contains two sets of Elevated Rail/Subway Rolling stock - the Glasgow Subway 2nd and 3rd Generation units. The Glasgow Subway is the fourth-oldest underground railway in Europe, having operated since 1896. There are four 2nd Generation sets of locomotive and carriage. And one 3rd Generation set of locomotive and carriages. INSTALLATION Drag the files into your 'Plugins' folder. Use only one replacement set. Additional sets can be used in any combination. The 3rd Generation C1 carriage is an additional carriage for that set, and does not replace anything on it's own. COMPATIBILITY Use only one replacement set.There are replacement and additional versions of each set, and they can be used in conjunction to create mixed livery sets. DEPENDENCIES No dependencies.

    Hello. This is where I will be posting updates, releases and general support for the various automata packs I have been releasing. A lot of my packs will be UK-orientated, as there was a lack of that niche of content for SimCity 4 which led me to making some of my own, but will never be exclusive to just that. I am open to requests for specific automata, however there is not a defined timetable for when things get made. This is a hobby first and foremost, and keeping it interesting means sometimes switching to another request or a personal project to keep things from getting stale. REQUESTS To request an automata, please make a post with the following information: The name - The most important part, to help me search for more information/references without needing to hunt around. A photo/link to references - If you wish to see a specific livery, or just to give a general idea of what type of automata will be made. The preferred network - Networks are defined as Rail (Passenger or Freight), El-Rail, GLR, Subway, Monorail or HSR. If it's not specified then it will usually just be released as a Rail automata.     I have now updated to v2 of 'UK Freight Rolling Stock - Pack 1'. Aside from switching to the new IID range, I have also made it possible to use any full or empty versions simultaneously. This affects the coal hoppers and the box wagons in this pack. Please remove previous versions from your plugins folder before using these. New files have the 'v2' suffix to make it easier to identify them. For future mods that require updates, I will not provide further temporary versions, as it is time that could be spent working on the fixed versions themselves. I hope to work on the Class 33s next.
  10. DSC - Freight - UK Freight Rolling Stock - Pack 1

    Yes, see this post here: tl;dr is some of my automata mods clash with the LRM mods, due to using the same TGIs for models and textures. Current advice atm would be to stop using the automata mods, until I am able to reassign my mods to a different range . Edit 25/05/25: I've uploaded a temporary version that removes any files that conflict with LRM. This will be removed at a later date. only use if you use LRM and have noticed graphical issues.

    To go through in order of responses: @Kel9509 There are actual clashes, I've tried to grab examples of them in the image below this - but it turns out we have both chosen the same range of IIDs for our mods out of coincidence. @rivit I'll see if I can grab a range. a lot of my early released are just done ad-hoc, but I decided to get more organised when I started making larger packs - wish i'd chosen something different now! I do have a spreadsheet to keep organised, and was updating it frequently as I went back and re-did older packs. There are a few instances where by fluke, two mods will occupy the same IID range but 'weave' around each other. But a few packs where they do clash, and all it ever takes is to see one obvious error whilst playing and it whips you out of that immersive experience. In regards to batching stuff, it's the "going into every model and changing IIDs" I was dreading, I kinda have a grip on doing incremental stuff but yah, was hoping to avoid some tedious tasks. I will say i'm at least thankful for finding this out before I started building my next freight pack - that is currently at 200 models (for container traffic) and I'm dreading doing that once, let alone having to do it twice! @koumus corporation In the beginning I did just randomise and sent it, but I felt for bigger packs it'd be better to organise them more. And I've no idea about the scripting stuff in Reader either, I would try but there seems to be so little documentation or examples of other people using it, I can't find a place to start with it.

    Having a bit of a "godammit" moment. Came to my attention yesterday and today that a lot of my automata releases occupy the same IIDs as the LRMv4 mod by Mandelsoft. Both are trying to occupy the same IID range of 0xdc______ for both models and FSh textures. For example, I've currently used 0xdca, 0xdcb, 0xdce and 0xdcf for different categories of stuff, all of which are used across the various LRM styles, so there's not like a good range to slot into there. A significant portion of my automata released will need to change to avoid those clashes, so I may as well ask for general wisdom here. Any way of figuring out a decent IID range for use that wouldn't clash with a large pre-existing mod? And is there a decent bulk method of changing all instances of IIDs in DATs for exemplars, models and FSHs in either iLives or SC4 Reader, or another program entirely?

    DESCRIPTION "Thomas was a tank engine who lives at the big station on the Island of Sodor. He had six small wheels, a short, stumpy funnel, a short, stumpy boiler, and a short, stumpy dome. He has two coaches. They are old and need new paint, but he loves them very much. He calls them 'Annie' and 'Clarabel'. Annie can only take passengers, but Clarabel can take passengers, luggage, and the guard." To mark the 80th anniversary of the first 'The Railway Series' book's release, this pack contains a Thomas the Tank Engine passenger locomotive, along with his two coaches, Annie and Clarabel They have HD textures and nightlighting, and Thomas also has a steam effect and animated wheels and coupling rod. INSTALLATION There is a single DAT file. Please drag into your Plugins folder. COMPATIBILITY This pack has a REPlacement passenger locomotive, a REPlacement passenger coach, and an ADDitional passenger coach. Please remove any other REPlacement passenger mods before use, otherwise there may be clashes or unexpected results. Please use Hardware rendering mode when using these automata.     I have just release a 'Thomas the Tank Engine' pack! A weekend project, scratch-built. I'm definitely one of those that grew up watching Thomas as a child, so the series holds a dear spot in my heart. So given the day i'm posting this (12th May 2025) is the 80th anniversary of the book series' debut, it felt fitting to work on something like this. and it was fun to get my head back into making steam automata as well. The obvious thing - yes, I would like to make a few more of the engines from the series, but over time perhaps.

    I have a guess, but just to check, are you using software rendering or hardware rendering? If you are using software rendering, then it will break the textures as they're larger than 256x256 if this is the case, I may make a version that is software rendering compatible.

    I have just released another big pack, the 'Super Sprinters (class 153 and 156) pack' I'm including the reference image here just incase. https://i.imgur.com/WOey0Su.png. But these were fun to work on (although it gets a bit tedious doing the same edits 28 times!) I like being able to give people a lot of variation and things to choose from, and whilst these are not every livery these trains have ever worn... its enough, lol. I don't think there's a method that would make things that much faster, any suggestions are welcome though. Whilst these units are normally single or two-coach sets, I did not include any patches to the Passenger train length, as I did not want to interfere with any other mods that alter those values, such as NAM. If you wish to edit those values to reflect their proper nature then that is down to you.

    I wouldn't know of a way for 3dsMax or most 3d programs in general, but working with the textures I have a few suggestions. For larger areas you could try adding a noise layer to the texture itself to introduce a little randomness. similarly a dirt or other texture that can help break up sections into smaller areas. they don't have to be strong and bold, just barely there but neough to hint to the eye that there's variation. Maybe if you need a 1-wide strip of tile for something, look for textures that are tiled themselves. An example: (ignoring the watermark), you get 4 rows of 4 tiles, which can be stitched into a 1x16 tile strip. Rotate the image and you get another 4 rows of 4, for another 1x16. you can mirror and flip tiles within that strip to break up the repetition, move tiles around. But if it helps anything, even if you don't feel like you're an expert, none of us really are. At every level we're all still learning stuff as we go along, learning new bits every time and applying that knowledge to the next project. And sometimes you just have to fake it until you make it. thats certainly how I feel with my automata mods sometimes. But I doubt anybody would be sat here looking at your work going "hmm, these are clearly done by someone who isn't an expert.", but i'm 100% sure people are sat here going "damn, this looks awesome! I can't wait to use it in my city."

    I have just released the 'DSC - Rail & Hybrid - Class 800s pack! I wasn't expecting to have another pack done so quickly after the buses, but its nice to have knocked out two requests in one go, and one of the oldest in the list of suggestions. And I think they have come out very nicely, with a nice variety of liveries.

    Further progress. One issue to fix on one of the textures, but otherwise very happy with these now. All six commuter versions are now complete, will work on the Hybrid Rail/HSR versions tomorrow.

    It's only taken me 4 and a half years but i've somehow cracked out the Class 800 request that @Tyberius06 requested - and I will also include a few other liveries to cover those requested by the late Odainsaker, plus a few other liveries of my own choosing. This was done in the span of an evening, but as impressive as that may sound, it's fortunate that i've had models for other automata releases i've been able to adapt. The engine and coach started as the Mk2 coach i made a few years ago.This work will also form the basis of another coach/carriage pack in the future. There's some minor tweaks I'd like to do before release: - tweaks to the nightlighting - add catenary equipment to the loco and to an additional coach - may darken the roof a little for this specific livery I will also be providing a Hybrid Rail (aka monorail) version for those using NAM.

    I have just released Mitsubishi Minibuses mod. These look pretty good ingame, have fun spotting these as they roam around your cities And there are versions for the school minibus And the commuter version does have full height doors But finally - there is one variation of the school bus that i've not shown in any screenshot or WIP shot. The first person to spot it in game and post a screenshot here will win... my respect and admiration. I'll also post a larger view of it.

    DESCRIPTION This pack contains some Japanese (and one from Honk Kong) minibuses, based on the Mitsubishi Fuso Rosa. There are two styles, the commuter bus version (with full-height doors), and school bus version. INSTALLATION Drag either or both DATs into your plugins folder. COMPATIBILITY Each DAT contains one REPlacement for the vanilla Maxis bus/school bus, and 5 ADDitional versions. The REPlacements will clash with any other bus mod that replaces the vanilla Maxis bus/school bus. DEPENDENCIES No hard dependencies.
