6 pointsSo I almost completely redid 333 wacker over the last few days, and I think that this time you guys are actually going to get it. I was experimenting a lot with glass and ground planes, and I think I may have gotten a winner. The first 3 pictures are going to be the ground plane that is most recent and the last one is going to be previous iterations of the ground plane. And these are going to have much worse glass than the ones I just showed, but I don't have time for more renders. I want this BAT to be my best so far, so could anyone with time on their hands take a look at each picture, and starting from the top slowly make their way downwards and note whenever they double-take or get caught up looking at something and then post what it was so I can fix it.

3 pointsThanks for the comments xD I'm very busy, but even so, I will try to update my journal. Well, I did two images to represent the new area I'm working on: River Hampshire (based in the beautiful Vortext picture: https://i.imgur.com/xX4OriI.jpg) Thanks! Sorry for the minimal upgrade, consider as a teaser xD

3 pointsWelcome Back! Autumn has arrived. Let's go check out the colours. Tweaking the update design slightly and experimenting with fewer captions. Stay tuned for more potential "tweaks" and where captioning will head. Small intensification projects in quiet neighbourhoods. Breaks up the landscape nicely, and these condos certainly have a nice view of the fall colours. A few houses being rebuilt in this neighbourhood. Plenty of good colour here. Lots of open parkland, large lots makes this area very desirable. Thanks For Visiting!

3 pointsoh man, I dunno if I'll be able to compete with some of these, but I'll try!
-
3 pointsThis is looking much better IMO. I agree with Darn, the glass isn't "perfect" but don't get too hung up on it, it's really close. In my experience any building that doesn't have perfectly square N-E-S-W sides is incredibly difficult to get right anyway, there's something about the way non-standard sides reflect the ground plane that makes the ground plane image really noticeably jump out. Distorting the ground plane seems to be the only way to get around this, but there's a subtle art to it. Can't wait to see the rest of it completed. In summary, looks great
-
3 pointsOk.. are you ready? Nah, it looks really good as is, but if you want a picky eye for detail to pull it apart, here's some things I found: There's many inaccuracies with the roof, are you going for real-life-ism or just modeling realism? In general I'd say most of the roof junk looks like it needs something more.. not sure what, but they look a bit like little candies at the moment. Have a look at Darknono's roofs, he has a real knack for it, but not sure what his secret is... In terms of the glass, I'd say it needs to be a lot darker. This building is probably going to be the hardest to get looking right. Every angle is represented and its a mid-rise, so the normal ground-plane method used for most BATing IMO does not work. It's reflecting the tops of buildings when its not very tall and that detracts severely from the realism. Not sure what you thought of the glass I did for Crown Metropol, but its not dis-similar in that its mid-rise and curved. I tried an experimental technique of modeling the surroundings using low-poly structures and pasted-on textures hidden from the camera, to try and simulate what it would really be reflecting at that angle. Maybe you could try something like that? I think those whiteish glass panes that appear throughout the building look a bit flat and lifeless, do they need more reflectivity? I think I'd try bumping up the reflectivity in the tiles on the ground as well, just a bit, they also look a bit lifeless. Anyway, that's my two-cents worth. The biggest thing to fix is the roof, that's what's detracting the most from true realism IMO. Great work as always

3 pointsOkay, I finally finished this sucker. I've been working on it sporadically for, I don't know, the past few weeks. Anyway here it is: Zoom in: So yeah, this is on a medium-sized city tile, so it takes up the SW quadrant of the tile. I basically sketched it out on paper beforehand and tried to replicate it as well as I could in-game. I had to sacrifice a connection from eastbound to southbound because it was just too much of a pain to try and fit in (I wanted to have a cloverleaf loop ramp), and it would probably work better once I have a certain feature that will be available in NAM 33. The highways going south and the one going east meet up again in the city tile to the south, so it's not a big deal to be missing this one connection. Although there was much rage-quitting after an hour of work on this interchange, no computer equipment was harmed in its construction.

2 pointsShort update.. due to popular demand, say hello to the Amtrak in Ferrum City! Here is the area I was working on from the last update..
-
2 pointsI can't put my finger on it but I think something might be wrong with your rendering settings. I think your renders might be too blurry.
-
2 pointsI think the way the glass reflects the ground plane is really good now. However, I'd like to know which ground plane image are you using now. The reflections are very subdued now, much of the building is very dark. Maybe the culrpit is the ground plane because it has too many darker spots?
-
2 pointsAlright, I'll bite. (No, that's not the title.) Highway Creek. Though I feel like I wanna explain... I was playing with MMPs the other day inside my test city (where everything keeps changing), oblivious to this challenge. I long since destroyed the thing in my city, but I just so happen to have a screenshot of it still saved in Inkscape days later. (Let that sink in... Inkscape. Not Photoshop or GIMP or Paint.NET.) And this is just me fooling around in a test city; no dedicated playthrough city whatsoever.

2 pointsIt's actually quite easy to implement something like that given that there's already a basic framework for it all: Elevated Rail over Avenue/RD-4. Copy the RUL1 entries into the Monorail RUL1 section, and then do a simple model swap, path reassignment, etc. Though, practically speaking, which is much more practical and easier on the end users: going on adding more new features to the NAM whilst ignoring the immediate issues of implementation and stability, or focusing on the issues of stability and implementation, and taking what's learnt and applying it to all other developmental fronts? This is basically why RHW development is the current priority for a lot of NAM development, and in fact, a lot of other NAM developments are based off of what was implemented by the RHW. Because once you figure out something in RHW, you can implement it much easier for any other development. Dual networking is an odd exception, however, and the only "RHW analogue" is, as mentioned, Elevated Rail over Avenue/RD-4. There's still a few things missing on that front, and there could very well be a way to condense all of the TRAM, for that matter, to use what ELR over Avenue has implemented.

We'll see if I keep them as I begin to pickup TuLEP use again. mb1.0.2 Thanks! Glad you like the update, hope this one was enjoyable too. UndercoverNinja12 Hehe, my CBDs tend to look like that. Especially when I tweak photo lighting. NielsC007 Thanks, glad you think so! Schriefer Thanks, this has to be one of my favourites I've built. Not the biggest, but one of the more realistic ones. portlandexpos04 Thank you! I try to add a bit of light/more vibrancy to the photos. Sometimes the pics just don't quite look right unaltered. Hope you enjoyed this update too! qazzy1122 That is certainly a possibility in a little while. I'm still cleaning up some glitches in this (and other) city tiles, so a city-wide view isn't quite ready just yet. sarthakknight Thanks! That building is a stunner, for sure. Looks great in many cities. simmytu Thanks, glad you do. Hope you liked these too. Benedict Thanks for stopping by and the BTT update! CapTon Updates have been sporradic for sure. Likely will continue to be. We'll see if some of these tweaks and some future ones could help upload frequency. And glad you think so, it's nice to know that people still enjoy the updates even with huge waits in-between. LnX Thanks! The census updates are always amongst my favourites. coolwiththecool2 It certainly is! It's sprawling like crazy. Such sprawl. Much lost. jmsepe Thanks for stopping by here and SC4D, look forward to seeing you here in the next year. vinlabsc3k Glad you've been enjoying them! kelistmac Thank you, happy to hear you think so! coolwiththecool2 & Schulmanator Thanks for your feedback re: the survey. I have an idea of where I'm going. May end up being a "none of the above" with some of the ideas in there tossed in too. We'll see. Kifflom12 Happy to see you again! Hope you'll keep stopping by again. Things certainly have grown in Holt since your last visit. Thanks For Visiting!

1 pointWe all have to understand that after we have sorted this out, we will take appropriate actions to modify whatever problems may be highlighted. Currently CBC is saying that the suspect was killed by the Parliamentary Sergeant at Arms. Not only does he carry the Mace during the opening of Parliament but he is a senior RCMP officer. As I write, there is currently a security lock-down on the Hill including all Parliamentary office buildings as the security people do a room to room, closet to closet check for threats. We have a very open society, and we won't change very much except, perhaps, to be a little more wary. Canadians are often compared with our mascot, Castor Canadensis. It would be well to know that the beaver's teeth never stop growing and like all rodents, if you back him into a corner, he comes at you teeth first. We have some serious traditions and they are anything but dead: Vimy Ridge; Juno Beach; the Korean Conflict; and some more recent actions in the middle east. The PM is scheduled to address the country this evening. I hope he has something more to say than split infinitives and splat absurdities. Killing a soldier standing on guard at the National War Memorial is more than just pulling our leg. If we find out that any organization is involved, that organization has signed its death warrant.

1 pointIt depends , Are you ok with 720p gameplay or need 1080p ? if you need 1080p or greater , then forget about that range of graphic cards. My PC configuration is this : (its from 2009 and the only thing I upgraded is graphic card) Core 2 Quad 2.6 Ghz 4GB DDR3 RAM Sapphire HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 card and it consumes ~80-90w 425w PSU LG 42 inch 3DTV as monitor for the PC 7770 card costs less than $100 in many places , its a decent card for casual users. As far as other cards are concerned , Most of them consume more than 100w power supply. I recorded a game using a camera : As you can see that , its a big city and night time. Even when I moved the mouse very fast , game didn't take performance hit

1 pointJust wanna clarify the names of something here: there's no such thing as a Traffic Controller in the NAM. The Traffic Simulator and Controller are two completely different things, even though both require Java to compile/customise. In fact, "Controller" and "Traffic Simulator" are the correct names for what is know by the NAM Team as "RUL Files 0x10000000, 0x10000001, and 0x10000002" and "Type 05 Exemplar", respectively. I say this because it's a very common mistake to call the Traffic Simulator the Traffic Controller, even though the name "Controller" refers to a completely different thing in the NAM, and calling the Traffic Simulator the Traffic Controller, or calling the Controller the Traffic Controller would just confuse people as to which is which.

1 pointI made a Google Maps-style map of the large city tile just north of the regional capital of Boston. Charlestown in the southeast, Somerville in the southwest, and Chelsea in the northeast. Still a lot of undeveloped land, but this mostly suburban tile is home to 106,210 people. Markers indicate subway stations and regional commuter rail stations. (image is 3000x3000)

1 pointjmsepe: Indeed, I use Adobe Illustrator Joe 90: Love the curves, even if i am generally against multiple text angles. In any case, It is beautiful to look at nonetheless! Now, I have another updated map. This is the Altona Metro (U-bahn) map. It shows connections to ICE, IC, S-bahn, and simplified Tramlink and Busway Networks. Brought to You by •BAHN (Belandes Altona Heisbahn Netwerk) (National Altona Rail Network in the Hanseatic Language, as well as a play on words). Please, don't hesitate to tell me what you think!
