    1. Taking other peoples' work and uploading it here is not permitted. At least you stated this is not your work, but you'll have to mention the original author and their permission to use this model for this upload, too. 2. This cannot work because the files you uploaded are only the lot and the (redundant) desc, but the actual model is missing. Simply test the asset in question with ONLY those files in your plugins folder that you included in the upload, and you'll see if it works. No guessing involved. 3. Google Warehouse models won't do for SimCity because they are extremely low-poly - just textured boxes, really.

Hi, I haven't got any new updates.. my computer is busily exporting like mad. I've exported day-models for all arts precinct pieces (NGV International (i.e. Art Gallery), the annex garden, and the combined Arts Centre Spire/Hamer Hall). The Darknite and Maxisnight versions for the gallery and annex are nearly finished, then I need to do the biggie, the Spire at night. In terms of releasing, here's what I'm thinking: Release 1: Melbourne Arts Precint Part 1 - NGV International (incl. Annex) Includes the Gallery and Annex both in Darknite & Maxis Night versions Release 2: Melbourne Arts Precint Part 2 - Arts Centre Spire & Hamer Hall This release will include 4 static models in Blue, Red, Green & Purple. People can pick which one of the four colours they want to use, these will be Darknite only. In the same release, a single Maxis night version, in the Blue colour only. Release 3: Melbourne Arts Precint Part 3 - Arts Centre Spire & Hamer Hall (Multicolour version) This release will include the Spire/Hamer Hall but with seasonally changing spire colours (not that I've actually worked out how to do a timed prop yet) This will be darknite only. (and I assume a hefty file size will be attached to it, hence a separate release) I know this will dissappoint some people but the night renders for these models is literally going to take days, possibly a week, for all four colours, I don't have a lot of internal motivation for doing it all again in maxis night Maxis night users will have to be satisified with static blue version only. I'm posting this because I'm keen to get your views on whether this is a sensible way to release these BATs? Take your time... I'm about to start exporting the Spire and thats going to take a while

I have been searching around for some city inspiration and came accross something odd until I opened and started reading, I'm not sure if simtropolis folks will enjoy it but I thought it was really cool... Enjoy! http://www.stonetronix.com/gdc-2013/ Please note all the Simcity stuff is under 'Simulating a City - One Page at a Time' section... ~ James.

Well I graduated college, and I am still in the process of finding a new job. I want to be able to get a job in Architectural Rending but Im not sure how to approcah being able to get a job in that area, or if a job like that even exists anymore because of all the features Revit and Autocad now have for 3d Rendering.I have been working on improving my portfolio and I am working on making a list of architects to contact about it, but in the meantime I have been working on fixing up my BAT to show a render of to a potential employer. (One local company does high rises and might like to see this) Here is what I have done so far. Right now, I am working on figuring out what to put on the plaza area. The first picture has some stuff and the second picture doesn't The black things on the plaza in the render are lampposts. They are kind of modern (and based off some i found online) and I'm not sure if they work or not

It's been a long time since iv'e posted anything almost exactly one year. Iv'e been on the site frequently though and have noticed that not many people are still BATing. The majority of the greats are not so active recently, I could easily name 15 or so. Seeing this made me feel quite sad on the inside. At fist glance it looks like the community is dying out. However seeing a few BATers stick it out and continue to produce quality content. I personally thank you IDS2, Jasoncw, Darknono, Bipin, Aaron G, reddonquixote, gutterclub, and Skyscraper Tower Building along with the ones who are lesser known. This current situation did not sit right with me so I decided to start BATing again to try to help produce more quality content on the stex. Nothing major really, props and a few suburban buildings and finishing one or two of my old projects. I don't really have time for big projects with my senior year starting next month. So to start off I thought I would do a remake of something I found on the stex recently and thought was cool but a bit dated: (Lax light pillars by justanothersim86 in 2005) Lax glowing columns by nick13 I plan on doing these in a variety of different colors. Some solid color some multiple.

Interstate Tour - Solar City and Rayban Point After seeing bits and pieces of Solar City, we finally get to its downtown area and will touch upon the easternmost areas of Darrylton, the second-largest city in the Andremore metropolitan area. We are not going to see its downtown anytime soon, however, because we are going to continue the Interstate Tour down I-5 into Andremore. However, Darrylton certainly is a sight. But I digress. Exit 8B takes you right into the heart of Solar City via Solar City Parkway, and Exit 8A takes you via Mosby Parkway to downtown Mosby, another large city that has been mentioned but not fully detailed. Moving down I-5, we get to Exit 7 for Phoenix Blvd. Exit 7B takes you along the Darrylton/Solar City line toward the Phoenix commercial district in Darrylton. Exit 7A takes you southeast all the way to downtown Juan Carlos (also one way to get to the beaches). Exit 6C is for the I-405 spur, a section of highway just over a mile long that connects I-5 to I-405. I-405 is the 56-mile long Beltway that surrounds the city of Andremore. It is an absolutely vital bypass that spares travelers of I-5 S the treacherous traffic which usually starts well before the merger of I-405 and I-5 at Exit 5. The spur provides outer loop-bound travelers from I-5 the pain of dealing with Exit 5. The spur cuts between Saxon Garden and Langley Lake, and its location is actually a compromise. Southbound I-5 travelers originally wanted to turn Solar City Parkway into the spur, which would have created an over 2-mile long spur that joined I-405 at its Exit 7. However, residents in the Phoenix, Satyr Forest, Cyno Park, and Treantsdale were less than thrilled about the impact it would have to their access to the main shops along the parkway. Thus, the compromise was done. Here is Exit 5, where Andremore-bound traffic generally starts to stack up during the morning rush hour. We are now less than five miles from the Tauria State line. Here we see the last of Solar City's neighborhoods---South Raymont, Windsor, and Polaris, along with the rest of Shinington and Helios. Across the highway are neighborhoods in Mosby---Badum, Saget Park, Frenchtown, Charity Park, and Zinman. Moving into Darrylton, we see Cyno Park, Phoenix (the main commercial area in eastern Darrylton), Satyr Forest, Wisp Manor, Pegasus Park, Peryton, Sylphington, Treantsdale, Triton Park, Saxon Garden, Langley Lake, Arena Park, Dryad Hill, an eastern portion of Hydra Park... ... the eastern portion of Griffin Park, Fauns Forest, Hookah Park, Goling, and Alba. On the other side of the inlet is Rayban Point, a very upscale city that's marinas fuel its economy. Its neighborhoods include Maui Coast, Aviator Hill, Zegna, Oakley, and Serengeti. Here we can also see a few more Mosby neighborhoods---Clinton, Henrie, and Fonseca. It the bottom-right corner is Johnstown, the nortwesternmost neighborhood of Juan Carlos. Here is a closer view of downtown Solar City. It's not a huge downtown areawise as Solar City is driven mostly by high-tech industry, but the towers are tall and provide some great views of the metropolitan area for the executives. The I-5 highway exit empties onto Solar City Parkway right in the heart of downtown Solar City. This is Frenchtown, the westernmost neighborhood in Mosby. This area used to have a high concentration of French residents, but now, things have diversified quite a bit as the commercial scene has changed. This is the Rayban Point country club---one of the best in the metropolitan area I hear from word of mouth. The marinas that power Rayban Point's economy. The very fine neighborhood of Aviator Hill. Phoenix Boulevard as it enters Juan Carlos. This is Phoenix, the main commercial center and densely populated area in eastern Darrylton. The I-405 exit for Solar City Parkway. This is Solar City Parkway as it heads straight to downtown Darrylton, overlooked by twin apartments on the edge of the Peryton neighborhood. Dryad Hill, a very quaint and typical suburban neighborhood. Saxon Garden, the park that gave this neighborhood its name. Here is Langley Lake, right off the I-405 Spur. Here are some clean overhead shots of Grid F3.

The sun was shining on the sea Shining with all its might It did its very best to make The billows smooth and bright And this was odd because it was The middle of the night. It was midnight on the ocean Not a streetcar was in sight I opened my umbrella For it rained all day that night. A barefoot boy with shoes on Stood a-sitting in a tree; And when I put my glasses on I heard this melody: Be kind to your web-footed friends, For a duck may be somebody's mother. Be kind to the denizen of the swamp, He's a dilly through and through. You many think that this is the end, Well it is.

You can raise and lower streetcar tracks, but the stops still need to be placed on surface tracks. That's great. Any ETA on this update? Later this month.

Looking at the scale maps on pages 9 and 10, how could they have begun to think that those map sizes were going to work? A single airport fills most of one of the maps and a single freeway interchange (kind of a common thing in a city) takes a significant chunk out of another. Somebody should have stood up to Stone and called BS. Ridiculous.
  17. 1 point
Also do you have other cities? If not build city connections. Have an all industrial city or two. Say one DI and then another with MI and HTI. Like Mr. Moose said run turtle and enjoy. The game is like a cross country drive, slow down enjoy the sights. It's not a race.

So this is the first time I have shown an actual city in the series so far. There have been numerous requests about what buildings and other plugins I use, but stuff like this stuff just gets to me:     This is one of the reasons why I have put off doing a SimCity series for so long...   [hr]   For those know their way around plugins, can I request that you take a look at the youtube comments on the videos every now and then? Sometimes I just can't remember where I got some of my buildings from or what their names are. Of course feel free to ignore obnoxious requests like the one above lol. Thanks in advance!

Jack, I've heard a couple different people mention having that issue so I'm pretty sure something's wrong with the file. Apparently the building has the same ID as Nelson Hall, so I'm probably gonna update Nelson Hall rather than 100 Washington since it doesn't take as long to export.

I barely remember my first day at school back in 96. I don't think I made any friends but I pleased the teachers enough as they wrote about my 'outgoing personality' in my first report. I do remember that my main interest at the time was in the girls at school and I tried to befriend them but many found me weird and creepy lol.

Go back and read the download pages, then download the dependencies if any. Also, when you move a custom content lot into your plugins you have to be sure to get not only the lot, but also the model and the descriptors if any. You need to follow any instructions that came with it as well. Keep your downloaded .zip files in a separate <you>\Documents\SC4Downloads folder with subfolders by category or author. Expand them in place there following the instructions (if any). Move only data base files into your plugins in a similar structure (not necessarily totally identical). Only .SC4LOT, .SC4DESC, .SC4MODEL, .DAT, and .DLL files go in the plugins folder under <you>\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\ Any other files are strictly documentation and should not clutter up your Plugins folder. Also, go to the top of this list and have a skim through the pinned threads which are mostly there for beginners.

    Once upon a time in a land far, far away there lived a snuflopagus named Bill, who was to go to school on the next day for the very first time. Bill was afraid because he had never been to school and didn't know what it was all about. His mommy told him it would be very good for him, and she have him a book bag with a blank binder in it and a big pencil, sharpened at one end. When Bill's daddy came home from work, Bill told him he was afraid of going to school. Bill's daddy said to him in his big gruff voice, “What? Afraid? Nonsense! Every little snuflopagus who goes to school for the very first time tomorrow will be just as worried about it as you, so you will have lots of company.” Just then Mommy called them to wash up for dinner, and they went and did that. Then they all went and sat down at the table to eat. Mommy had made one of Bills favourites, koodle-berry stew with umflings. Bill ate his portion happily and asked for seconds and ate the second bowl as well. By then it was time for bed After brushing his teeth and getting on his jammies, Bill went with Daddy to the bedroom and got in bed. Daddy read some more of the story of the wide world he had been reading to Bill until Bill dropped off to sleep. The next morning, Bill's mommy helped him dress up in his new school uniform, and sent him off to walk down the block to the school with his bag in hand. Bill saw Sam walking along in uniform and with a bag, too. “Do you think it will be awful?” asked Bill. “Naw,” Sam replied. “Everyone our age is going today so we will have a big bunch of others to play with and talk to”. So the two snuflopagus children walked down the block to the school that was on the corner. {Now, if the dish doesn't run away with the spoon, I'll tell you some more tomorrow.}

So on Easter, my huge family and I (my grandmother had 7 kids) were sitting around, because people just sit in groups and talk. So we were sitting in the living room watching a documentary on the War of 1812. This conversation follows. My Uncle: War of 1812? It's Easter, what's that have to do with Easter? My Cousin: well, there's really nothing good on Me: yeah, there's some stupid shows. Yesterday we saw an ad for "Hunting Bigfoot". *my really hairy cousin walks into the room. My Uncle: There he is! --- And another pointless conversation between my mom and my brother that occurred today; My brother: my right thumb is bigger than my left thumb My mom: because your right handed. Generally if your right handed your right thumb is larger. Me: mine are the same size Mom: because your ambidextrous (I really am naturally left handed, I spent preschool learning right handedness) My brother: actually my left thumb is fatter than my right.

On the back of the SImCity Box, it states at the top "Explore a world of endless possibilities" But all joking aside i don't know why the city sizes are so small. You'd think that Maxis would release an update making bigger city sizes by May but nope, all we get is some $10 DLC for Balloons. It's not like Maxis can't make them bigger. Look at SimCity 4, look at SimCity 3000, Look at SimCity SNES! All the maps in those games are bigger than the maps in SimCity 2013. If i were to recreate my neighborhood in SimCity 2013, i would not be able to without cutting corners. Another thing i dislike about the game is all the wasted space in the regions. Look at all the unused land in the regions. It feels really unrealistic and just makes you want bigger cities more and questions if EA is actually trying to make the game better or if they are lighting their million dollar fire places with our Hard earned money.

After his Ignoble Disgrace, Satan was being expelled from Heaven. As he passed through the Gates, he paused a moment in thought, and turned to God and said, "A new creature called Man, I hear, is soon to be created." "This is true," He replied. "He will need laws," said the Demon slyly. "What! You, his appointed Enemy for all Time! You ask for the right to make his laws?" "Oh, no!" Satan replied, "I ask only that he be allowed to make his own." It was so granted. -- Ambrose Bierce, "The Devil's Dictionary"

Yep lots coming out now about how glassbox is a sham basically. Basically the citizens run a lot like the power system, they just fill whatever house they can and etc etc. Hopefully these problems can be fixed because I can't get a refund on Origin apparently. So basically the game is broken. I'm not even going to blame EA for that, That is on Maxis failing to deliver.

here are some in-game screencaps i quickly made to give you an idea of the texture and detail of just a FEW of the buildings i have. these are mostly LEX buildings that have dependencies which shows you the attention to detail the lotters put into making them

Some ordinances lower mayor rating (like youth curfew), although they should never cause the problem your having.
  49. 1 point
I love it - won't somebody please think of the children! Here is a quote from the readme file of one of my NIMBY uploads...yes, there is a negative mayor effect... Since they're NIMBY, they also have some NIMBY effects to go with them; these effects are slightly less than those found in SimGoober's NIMBY lots, and from my testing they haven't shown to throw things off in the game. Since a lot of the buildings in this set are 2x1, they're not going to be popping up a lot in the deeper zoned areas of your city. There is a negative park effect of -20 over 6 tiles (affecting residentials in the area), as well as a negative landmark effect of -20 over 6 tiles (affecting commecials in the area.) In addition, there is a negative mayor rating effect of -25 over 20 tiles. Nothing too major...however, if you do have problems, then go ahead and bulldoze them if they grow too much. That said, the one NIMBY building that I have a problem with out of all my plug-ins is one of SimGoober's - I think it's Steve's Adult Shop, or something to that effect. It grows quite often in my cities, sometimes in rows (much like his Goober's Nuts building), and I find that if I don't weed through my cities often, they overgrow and start causing trouble.
  50. 1 point
Also do you have any NIMBY bats installed like Simgoober's or Mad Hatter's. I use these in my cities and have found that if they grow too often I get small riots in my small towns.
