You've certainly inspired me to get into SC4 for real. I've had the game for years but never gave it the proper play it deserves! After several hours of downloading custom content and layout out a road network (thanks to your vids for some awesome tips), I'm starting to see why this game is STILL so popular after all these years. Thanks for doing this; I really enjoy these videos.

 

BTW, and I hate to be "that guy," but what mod are you using to get the brick texture on your roads? Thanks.

I like it! I cant help to think about canadians cities when I look at your cities... Question though... I see the elevated rail in simcity with the NAM has white fences... HOW do I make them black, like the ones you have in your rail line?

It's the SMP sidewalk mod, but if I may be "that guy", check out Paeng's, it's very similar but more realistic.

And yes, I envy your comp speed!!!!!!!!!!!  I remember when I barely had plugins and my game would load very fast.  So sad  but I love the video so far.  Will continue watching tomorrow - got to commute to work tomorrow...I need a holiday!!!

Immortal lots, missing buildings, and misaligned lots ahoy! Your plugins suite would drive me nuts trying to fix it!

 

The Iron Block building's model is here. The model for the apartment building is here. Can't find the one for the bank, but it's one of SimGoober's so the model will be in one of his megapacks on SC4 Devotion (The Iron Block building's model is probably in one, too, but I figure I'd save you the trouble of looking for it). By the way, I've changed my mind, keep the box trees. It's quite amusing seeing you wrangle with them

 

DatPacking your plugins will decrease the time it takes to switch from zone view.

 

Based on what I've seen in this video, as well as your others, I suspect many of your crashes, if not the majority, are the result of malformed plugins making the game unstable. A crash when zooming is not as common as you're making it seem. :p

 

Because of how large your plugins suite has gotten and how many problems it has, it will be difficult to fix without starting from scratch.

 

There are several blank spots in your lists (Parks or Landmarks...?). These are indicative of a plugin that isn't entirely there. I'm not sure how to fix it beyond finding the plugin responsible and reinstalling it and its dependencies. This, however, does require you know which plugin is half-missing to begin with.

I think you're confusing rail with monorail/bullet train. The white elevated rail line I have in my city is bullet train which is actually a mod based off the monorail network. My rail line is to the north of the city right now.

I should really do the full switchover to Paeng's textures. That way they would align much better with the curves.

I could do that for all the roads, but it would take forever. Thinking just the main roads will work for now, and yes, they help increase capacity.

 

I built my PC specifically to run SC4 quickly. That was in 2010.

Sorry if I am making you tear your hair out. If it's any help, I have them all fixed for the next part :)

 

Keep in mind I have been toying around with my plugins folder since 2005 so it is messy. Add to the fact that I routinely do NAM testing and whatnot with various lots, stations, props etc.

So this is the first time I have shown an actual city in the series so far. There have been numerous requests about what buildings and other plugins I use, but stuff like this stuff just gets to me:

 

 

This is one of the reasons why I have put off doing a SimCity series for so long...

Sometimes I just can't remember where I got some of my buildings from or what their names are. Of course feel free to ignore obnoxious requests like the one above lol. Thanks in advance!

Oh I know, but I was wondering if its possible to have the black fence you have on your high speed train but on the elevated train. That way if you se el-rail new skin by the nam team, it has white fences, and I want them to look like the ones you have in your high speed train ones... :)

Here's an idea: Hover query over each new building the first time you see it grow. That way, people see their names and can find the buildings themselves.

Er if you are using a more than 1 core computer, maybe the set Affinity function in the Task manager can do the good. or simply right click on your shortcut,properties and put a " -CPUCount:1" at the end of target tab (without "). Hope it could helps.

First of all I want to thank you for this interesting series. I really like how patient you are working on your transport system esp. the roads.

But how can I have this flowers or trees in the middle of the NWM 6 or 7 lane road? I´m using the latest NAM too, but I have the european texture. So I don´t have the option in the starter pieces menu for this particularly design. Do you use a special option installing the NAM?

of course!!! you had "hard to find" plugins. watch out for downloading "hard to find" plugins. that you been downloading outside STEX, LEX, PLEX, and others.... you can see. they saying "where did you get that". because they are "hard to find" plugins.
