I love that this game allows you to build realistic looking cities. One would think this would be an obvious requirement for someone making a city building game, but I guess not obvious enough (SimCity).

Oakland Capital City - Update 3.0 - 125K Oaklandians
eburress replied to Sanshy6544's topic in Cities: Skylines City Journals
Beautiful city...and it actually resembles a real-world city! When I see cities like this, it makes me all the more angry that those chumps at Maxis screwed things up so badly with SimCity. Ridiculous! -

Hi eburress, all keys from Paradox should have been sent out. Can you please send an email to webshop@paradoxplaza.com and we'll help you right away. Also, just in case, check Spam and Junk folders =) Thanks, I emailed the webshop address. I checked those folders and haven't received any other relevant Paradox emails. -
I'm still waiting on my product key from Paradox. Did it take a while for you guys too?

How long did you have to wait for your product key from Paradox? I purchased the game 45 min ago and am still waiting for the email with my product key. -
Cities Skylines review: This is the SimCity you were looking for

I'm excited about the game but their shopping cart UI sucks and 30 minutes later, I am still waiting on my product key. Hope the game is better than the purchase experience. -
It looks awesome! Beating a dead horse, this is what SC should have been. Cities that actually look like real-world cities...it's so crazy an idea that it just might work!

^ That's what Maxis did. They had it in their minds what sort of game they were going to make, with no regard for what made sense, what would be fun to play, what people wanted. It was stupid and hopefully it's a lesson the Cities XXL people will learn from.

The Cities XL from 4 or 5 years ago was already better than the new SimCity. This one, with improved performance, the still-large maps, etc is going to REALLY blow SimCIty out of the water! Kudos to these other companies stepping up to fill the void left open by Maxis/EA. I still can't get over all the bad decisions those guys made...

IncGamers: Cities: Skylines Infrastructure highlights
eburress commented on Hellken's article in News
The game is really coming along! Already, it looks vastly superior to SC 2013, though granted, Maxis didn't set the bar very high. I can't wait to see what else they add. Also, it's funny that the host sounded a lot like Seth Rogan. -
Cities: Skyline; A new City Simulator Announced By Paradox

Oooh, awesome! This is what SimCity 2013 should have been! -
What do you do once your city is full and productive?
eburress replied to Rufus Honker IV's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Nothing. There's nothing to do, and because the city tiles are so ridiculously small, this happens very quickly. It's where this game falls down. -

I believe that SC2013 cities are completely realistic (in terms of graphics, design, etc) except for the fact that the city sizes are small. SC2013 cities are completely realistic, except for that which makes them completely unrealistic. hahaha In all seriousness, I don't personally mind the cartoonish style of the buildings and such, so regarding the execution of much of the game, I think it's fine. The small city sizes though ensure that no matter what, you will never ever be able to create a city that looks or behaves like a real world city. -

It seems to me that developers ought to be thinking of city builders as more of a design tool...a Photoshop or Illustrator for metropolises. That way the game never ends...you "draw" your interchanges, your suburbs, your business districts, and all of that with endless amounts of freedom and creativity. We have that. It is called Cities XL. Personally, I believe SimCity 2013 is playable but only moderately fun and that EA only partially redeemed itself. If you have an Internet connection, the game should work to the point of being playable. After 2005, I found SimCity 4 mind-numbingly boring without mods and still less enjoyable than Cities XL or Anno 2070 with a bunch of mods. Seeing as EPs, DLC, free patches, allowed modding, and upcoming offline mode are coming, I think that only the most diehard SimCity 4 fanatics will consider SimCity 4 better than offline-compatible SimCity 2013. I considered Cities XL 2009 better than SimCity 4 without mods and the latest Cities XL with mods better than SimCity 4. --Ocram It's what all city building games should be. Watching a simulation, especially one on as small-scaled as SC2013, can be fun for only so long. A city builder that focuses on the building...the designing...doesn't get old nearly as quickly.
