I have been looking through the request and wish list threads, and have found some things that are going to be Impossible to do in the new SimCity. If i find it to be true, i will post a link or explain why. For now I just have one thing, but i will be adding more as i have the time. 1. Using Current Sim city 4 Downloads (NAM RHW BATs etc) in the new SimCity This will not be possible because of a fundamental difference between the two games. The new Simcity will be full 3D, and the current SimCity is only partially 3D. In order for a building to display correctly in the new SimCity, it would have to be full 3D. However SC4 buildings do not follow this rule, they are only fake 3D A SC4 building is basically a 3D model projected onto 5 different sizes boxes (one for each zoom). Each box size then has 4 septate angles, one for each rotation side. That makes a total of 20 different protections. Here is an example of what one would look like with the building inside it: Looking at it in SC4 it looks just fine, but it is actually an optical illusion.if it were put into actual 3D space, like what the new SimCity will be it would only look normal from exactly the 20 current SC4 game views mentioned earlier. From any other angle, the building would look distorted like in this real life chalk drawing Exceptions: However, all hope is not lost. If the creator of the building still has the original 3D model, it could be converted. It would just have to be remade to work for the new Sim City Also all automata and transit models (cars, buses etc) are full 3D, and could have the possibility of being converted over. However the texture size on SC4 cars is at largest 512x512. When you would zoom into one in the new Simcity, it would look very blocky and blurred.

I'm sorry to hear about that. One thing that should help in the future is turning on the "increment on save" feature in 3ds Max. Then when you save it will make a new copy, (for example, MyBAT-03.max will be saved to a new file called MyBAT-04.max). That way files getting corrupt can only do so much damage.

OMG, this is incredible: I'm not quite sure how and why (and why me), but I'd like to thank you guys and gals! I wish some really underrepresented users would get some more, too.

As we talked many many months before, I went there and took pictures of areas you couldn't really see on bing. So here they are: If any clarification needs to be made what was shot where, feel free to ask.

Hey guys, so I know I haven't been that active recently on Simtropolis. I actually haven't been playing Simcity that often, and instead have been building a couple of world projects for The Sims 3. But anyways, I still like to poke around in my cities. Although, I get the feeling that I won't be playing that much with Simcity until the new one comes out. But anyways, I hope everyone's doing great here on Simtrop! So, as you may already know, Santa León is the capital city of Guaracay. This update is about the central part of the city - the CBD and surrounding areas. Below, you can see the Avenida de las Palmas, which is lined with hotels, shopping, and surprisingly enough - embassies. You can also see a glimpse below of the freeway that winds its way through the central part of the city, alleviating much of the smaller roads of the traffic headaches that were arising in the 1970's. Below is the Presidential Palace, where the president lives. It's located close to the beach, so that the president has a nice view of the ocean. It also provides an opportunity for sun-bathing tourists to gawk into his lavish living quarters and offices. Below is the city's central fútbol stadium. One of the city's iconic landmarks is the Monte Verde monastery. It is located on a steep hill, and reachable by a furnicular train from the lower neighborhood nearby. It is the home of religious broadcasting company "Pan Diario" which is both loved and hated by certain people in Guaracay. Below is one of the city's only train stations, with a commuter rail line that connects the city with suburbs and outter cities that are behind the hills. That's all, thanks for reading!

Don't you guys think they could be spreading the fires that fast for demonstration purposes? Same goes for dirty water/sick sims. They are likely just speeding up the process to show off how it all works.

Wow. Thank you Vlasky for such awesome pictures. However, I have had nothing but disaster with this model. First, the LE refuses to work, then the folder where all my textures were housed gets erased, and now this....During export to put into the game to check it out, 3dsMax crashed and corrupted my file, rendering it un-openable. So I am stuck with a slightly previous export to stick into the game, and no max file to work with. (All other saves are from way back in the process, and it would take too much time to re-buid this thing, time which I do not have. ) So here we go! This is what I am going to (much rather forced to) release to the STEX, if I ever want anyone to get it into their game. I had wanted to further work on some of the textures, and those pictures that Vlasky took would have come in handy for many many things. But due to no more file to build off of, this is what we have (no night export either ) I hope that you all find it acceptable. It will be released on the STEX today. I apologize.

The SPAM works very well for me. I placed agri-zones in one of my cities, which had in excess of 15,000 sims iirc, and at first no farms would develop. However, once I started adding irrigation ditches (unfortunately I have had the ditches for so long I cannot recall who made them) which raised the demand cap, I now have a nicely developing farming-urban combo.

Women grabs your clubs, your boyfriends will be glued to the TVs once more! =P "Intel" has been dropping for a while now on the follow up to Treyarch's Black Ops. It's no surprise to anyone that new a new Call of Duty is coming out, but what they've revealed is. I'm excited for it. The first surprise it offers up is showing Woods, who was thought dead to those who didn't explore the intel in the first game, in a wheel chair. Old as dirt with an oxygen tank he gives way to the concept for the new story. In the not distant future Americas "Army of Drones" have been hacked and are now destroying our cities. You will play from the 80's right up into 2025. The only known playable character right now is D. Mason. Perhaps Alex Masons son? The graphics look moderately better, but who expected a major upgrade? If what Treyarch is promising comes out as expected, we will have a fun title to explore. The campaign is suppose to have branching story lines, zombies a massive face lift, and they want to bring the multiplayer into the E-Games arena. Honestly I'm sick of zombies overall. Zombies in our books. Zombies in our movies. Zombies in our games. ZOMBIES IN MY ALPHABET SOUP! Really, I'm sick of em. The series needs something refreshing and this could very well be it. I've been playing since the start of the series and Black Ops is by far my most played and favorite. I still play it more then most other games. What we know: http://mp1st.com/cat...ty/black-ops-2/ http://pc.ign.com/ar.../1224070p1.html Between more information on SimCity, C&C Generals (being done like the old Westwood titles), and Black Ops 2 I'm looking forward to E3. All that I need now is another D&D CRPG built on 3.5 and I won't have a life. What do you all think about this?

I know you guys have said that Boggy1's thread is all that is needed tutorial-wise, but I still feel like doing these tutorials. I will be doing a series of tutorial videos related to SimCity 4 for newbies. My first tutorial will be how to install custom content which will eventually lead up to how to install dependencies. I do need a volunteer to give permission to use their lots in the tutorials, one having no dependencies, one having minimal, and one having many dependencies. Why am I doing these, you ask? I feel when I'm a newbie to something that I learn better by watching videos of people doing the task then reading a long thread about how to do something. So therefore I will be helping those who feel that way also. Here is where the tutorials will be: http://www.youtube.com/user/BeybladeSC I might eventually make a separate account for the tutorials, but for now will be hosted on my personal Youtube account. Thanks.

Part 4, Scenario 3. - When we were designing the fire system, we wanted to make sure it was satisfying for both types of players. If you want to protect your city, then you have many options. Of course, your primary line of defense is a fire station. Like most of the civic buildings in the city, your fire station is composed of multiple parts: garages, fire trucks, dispatch towers, hazmat vehicles, helicopters and more. - By Stone Librande, SimCity Lead Designer Read More: http://www.simcity.c...-fire-or-did-we Note: Engine tech demo video originally presented at the 2012 GDC.

I do not want to subscribe to any sort of game account, even a free one. They do not need to know my name, my location, my credit card numbers, my IP address, or my online habits. They do not require any profile information from me, do not require dial-home permissions, and they will never have permission to share or sell my information with third-party vendors and marketeers. I would prefer to purchase limited numbers of full expansion packs as disks, and I never purchase DLC or engage in micro-transactions.

@SimCity4Mayor -- You say you've changed Nvidia settings. What did you change? Have you tried underclocking your GPU? I have a pretty old system (built and burned-in NINE years ago and still running fine... yes, I'm poor), but MechWarrior 3 didn't run well on it until I read somewhere that just about any hardware newer than the game will process the game data too quickly for the game itself to keep up. Throttling down my GPU to a very low setting solved the problem. Maybe this would work for your SC4 lag. If you're up for a lengthy experiment, slice off a partition for Linux Mint, install Wine, and see if SC4 gives you the same trouble as it does in Windows. As a last resort, you could hunt down a single-core P4 system (like my old clunker) for legacy gaming. Thank the 8-bit Gods for FCEUX!

I'd be down for a zombie apocalypse if it's tied to a reward/business deal. For instance, you'd be offered a science research facility and if you put it in your city there'd be a small chance of a virus/zombie outbreak happening. If you have good healthcare/education(for a cure), the virus wont spread too far, but if your healthcare/education services are terrible or non existent, you could face a wipe out and spread the virus to other cities in the region. I would say once the population is wiped and turned into zombies, have it so they die off after several days. Then you could start the cleanup process, and attract new Sims.

Those are the Irrigation Ditches by SimGoober found over at the LEX, which work totally independent of the SPAM btw and would be my recommended choice to get agriculture demand going again.

Well, there are a few things I would suggest to fix the development problems and the commuter problems you're having. The first is there are no major thruways. You have small roads that can only handle a certain capacity. You need to upgrade these to one ways and avenues to increase the capacity of commuters on the streets and this will ultimately increase the capacity of commerce and population your region can hold. In addition to this, are the roads connecting your residential areas to your commercial areas adequately? Most cities have highways connecting the suburbs from the central business districts. You don't appear to have any of that. What seems to be going on is you have your roads placed at random. You can really see this in your second to last picture--roads are dead ending and turning all over the place, its not conducive to a smooth flowing traffic pattern for your region. PM me and I can give you some more tips, I love planning roads for my cities. I am a regional planner in real life, so its one of my specialties.

This project will get finished when... A. I have some free time that lasts longer than a few minutes. B. Kelly returns from the wilderness. C. When you least expect it. D. All of the above. I'd be leaning towards D. So please, no more bumps until then! I still want to have it done by mid-year. And with a week off from uni it'd be possible to have my part done, but Kelly's part is much bigger so it all depends on what his situation is like.

Indeed. The variation in window glass details, as well as different arrangements of furniture and patio details are what give this one such vibrancy and life. Some roof junk details and whatnot will finish it off just fine. Good stuff.

We really need to see snaps of your city. However, my technique of mixed residential/commercial seems to work very well. Generally what I do is the "small town" model of having a main drag with various levels of commercial properties. Then I add residential immediately behind on the next street to whatever depth seems to work. There is no reason to have a single commercial pod. You can have multiple business pods, and don't forget neighbourhood corner stores (low density CS). I like them to be either 1 x 1, 2 x 1, or 2 x 2. Pick up some of madhatter106's small commercial lots and Paeng's small lots as well. Pretty much all growable. If I have a shore line, I generally put down one of the CDK ports from PEG, and put an industrial pod right on top of it. Otherwise, I tend to put my industrial/residential pod sort of out-of-town. Think green space. Example.

Actually, I do what is necessary. Today, for the first time in a long time, I upgraded an avenue going out of town (neighbour connection) to a highway, after I had added a parallel elevated rail system. There were just too many cars. I am always reluctant to upgrade single tile roads to something larger because of the time it takes to plan all the urban renewal, but if I need to get things on an even keel, I do it. Generally lately I've been getting along fine with AVE-4 between tiles.
