First SimPeg, now SC4Devotion? :(

It's a sad, sad day for all of us Simcity 4 players and fans. After SimPeg, this morning SC4Devotion is gone too.  

And with it all the great creations of amazing batters  If there will be interest i cand give you for upload al the sc4devotion content i have on my pc: industrial bats, Reddonquixote's exclusive sc4devotion bats, mattb bats. MMPs, airport related bats. 

I hope that Red and other batters from the defunct SC4Devotion will come back to simtropolis and finish the amazing projects they are working on.

It may be a temporary issue. I had problems accessing the LEX last night but after 30 mins I was able to access and download again. 

Let's wait and see before assuming the worst.

Please, lets not go crazy and assume the worst folks! Though I don't know what's going on currently, I'm quite confident it's a temporary issue indeed - site has been temporarily down before (downtime actually used to happen on a fairly regular basis in the past so it's kinda funny seeing people freaking out like this).

Yes indeed, please do not panick or launch absurd rumors that the site is gone and that X project is gone forever. This most probably just a normal downtime which happen often at regular interval.

Please rest assured that Jeronij is aware of this issue and will work on it whenever he has the time.

So please on behalf of SC4Devotion staff, don't panick.

I think the reason for the panic comes from the particulars of the message. Usually when the site is down you don't get a message suggesting the site's domain has been cancelled /expired. Of course, I suspect that whatever the case is here all will be fine. In light of what happened with SimPeg however, I think everyone is a little nervous seeing it.

Well I can acess, for example, the PIMX support thread, although images do not appear, and when I try to click a random link, such as "forum" or "login", it gives me the same 404 error. And I am browsing with Hola from Sweden, since _B can access the site.

I remember that SC4D was several days down like one or two years ago, and it went back online. Thanks art & vortext for clarifying, a fast first response is always appreciated in these cases.

Hopefully it can be resolved, and is not too serious.

From the message it looks like a domain issue, rather that a database / server error. So a good chance there's a way forward.

November is actually SC4D 'birthday' month so it appears either someone forgot to renew the domain registration or, more likely, there's a proverbial kink in the cable somewhere and the renewal didn't make it through the system in time. Hopefully it'll be resolved shortly.

Just tried to get to SC4Devotion and all I got is HTTP 404 error not found page. That tells me that the site is down, most likely for maintance work and will be  back up and running soon. (90% sure, 10% not sure)    JKB

I've been using it no problems, I even posted in the prop family index last night ... just logged on ... it looks a bit weird there is just me and five guests

EDIT: Mind you thinking about last night it did seem quite quiet when I was on ... TheTeaCat has posted as well in one of the MDs

Yeah it's weird, I still got SC4D replies by email this afternoon even though I'm unable to access the site myself all day.  . 

 

At any rate, I just spoke to one of our admins over Skype and it appears to be a case of forgotten renewal indeed.

I probably should have posted here as soon as a noticed the problem and spoke with Tarkus/Alex about it as some people fearing the worst is pretty expectable given the recent loss of SimPeg. We've not yet heard from Jeroni on the matter but it appears to be nothing more than a lapsed deadline and we expect the matter to be resolved soon, though I can't offer a lot of details on what "soon" means. Jeroni's other website is down with the same message and there's no other reason to expect the site would be discontinued. He's repeatedly and recently confirmed his intention to keep the site going so there really shouldn't be anything to worry about.

In the event that the worst ever should happen I'd imagine most of us would bring our activity and current projects to ST and we would definitely take steps to ensure all the LEX's treasures remain available.

onsite, it doesn't look like we have anything in common with each other which would explain why we can login and others can't

It's probably because the DNS server used by yours and theirs ISPs hasn't been updated yet to reflect the suspended domain. Likewise, once the domain renewal is in place it'll probably take anywhere from 24h to 48h before all DNS servers have been updated and everyone will be able to access the site again.

yeah no, that's for the DNS in the local router which relays to the ISP DNS servers (nice infographic). Making a bold prediction here: your access to SC4D will also fail sometime soon.

Its a yearly registration so it actually expired on Oct 15 2015, I l know from my own  website that I start getting messages reminding me that my domain name is going to expire over a month before it due to happen so I can't understand if that's the case here why nobody knew it was going to happen I certainly get enough emails when its my site ... not that I plan on going anywhere I like running a website its fun
