LEX having problems it this a thing to WORRY about?

So as i was browsing the LEX as i saw this post that LEX was having problems (due to high RAM usage) and had to be offline so is it a thing to worry about? (even though the LEX is being backed up periodically) 

 

Just asking because SC4 Devotion (LEX) it's an amazing website filled with gems of content. So asking because i was worried....

Every time a site experiences some sort of problem, someone asks a question like this and the answer never changes. Things like this happen to the biggest companies in the world, Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and Google, they all go down sometimes.

The difference here is that there is presumably some sort of software bug that is causing problems, but it may take a while to resolve. Unlike those multi-billion dollar generating, non tax paying corporations, SC4D doesn't have teams of software engineers on big salaries. Our community runs on volunteers helping out and these people have lives outside of SC4 that usually take priority.

Ultimately no one can say with certainty that any site/exchange will be around forever, but both ST and SC4D are well run and there is no good reason to equate a minor software issue with the possible loss of either. I'm sure it'll all be resolved eventually and that SC4D will be around for many years to come.

I've given some brief updates over here in the official ST SC4 Devotion thread, with regards to current status. 

But to echo @rsc204's comment, the long-term future of SC4 Devotion is secure.  Our webhosting is paid through July 2025 (we operate on 3-year deals with our webhost), and we have plans in the works to replace the LEX software.  However, until that replacement is ready (there is no ETA), the short-term situation is that as long as we're on the current software, and subject to RAM usage spikes, "rolling blackouts" are going to be an unfortunate reality, wherein we have to periodically take the LEX offline to cool down the server (or else the LEX knocks everything offline on its own, leaving Errors 500 and 503 in its wake).  There are some interim solutions being discussed, though we're trying to avoid having to do anything drastic before the replacement is ready.

thanks @rsc204 YES this amazing website will be here for decades to come!! and yes you are also right about the corporations blackout part...

Also thanks @Tarkus for clearing the issue (it got me worried) and i hope that the NEW software may cause less issues and might decrease downtime!! Again thanks for clearing this up!!
