the only problem is the tri count. Did you optimize the curved faces with normal maps? That would probably reduce the poly count.

I don't know what you mean, optimize the curved faces with normal maps? Tri count is not that high really. The lod is small as it's not a growable.

I really like the idea and look of the playground, but I find 7k and almost 400 tris lod too much. For a unique building sure, but not for something that I'll place a bunch of. Sadly the same for me with a bunch of the stuff you make. It looks great, but I just don't want stuff with such a high count. I play on pretty high settings so the 7k would be the model I'd see alot.

Great idea though with a playground like that! :)

You can create a high poly model of the slide, with smooth face shading enabled to make it look curved.

Then you can create a low-poly version for the game (200 tris) and bake a normal map for it, so that it looks like the high-poly version with smooth shadows.

Hey All, Just released a full golf course and put in over 60 hours of work to make it. The models may not look very detailed in the screenshots but they have many hill formations and are highly noticeable in the right light. Hope you all enjoy creating custom golf courses in your city! As always check out the link to subscribe and see more screenshots. Thanks! :thumb:

I'm gonna spend a lot of time landscaping with this with various trees. Great job. I can't wait till we can make our own Cims. I see Cims in Polo shirts and plaid pants :D

When I build my next city, I don't think I'm going to have any room left for the city part of it. I want to build a race track, a large airport, a large port and now you've gone and added a golf course to the list!

    Nice work!

Yes, lol. I think I will have to update all of these when Snowfall comes around. Cause I think BloodyPenguin will make seasons work I hope. Then i'll have to edit the vertex of the greens so snow will fall on them in the winter season. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

If anyone hasn't seen the quick time lapse of me building a quick example, Check it out here...

Curious question since I haven't opened these up yet....will these allow plopping of trees in the middle of the fairways or around greens? Gotta have that infamous fairway tree in there somewhere!

You can always do that with this mod.

Yes, I purposely made the building size a 1x1 on each hole so that is where you can delete them if you need to. Because of this you are allowed to place any where on the green but depending on the location part of the tree may be cut off and look more like a bush than a tree if you try placing it on high hill areas. :)

Really, REALLY looking forward to this one! I'm so tired of the same bridges we been using since launch. I will be following this with interest. It's my hometown bridge :D

Continued Progress on Brooklyn Bridge. Here's the Brooklyn side Anchorage which still has a lot of work left to do on it.

little road test to see what it would look like. Ive added pillars and the vents, I will be doing color adjustments later. partially why I took a night time shot instead of day. I still have to add more details to this piece before continuing on other parts of the bridge.

Do you think that baking diagonal passages in is a good idea rather than making it modular?

Little close up of a portion of the bridge. I'll be making color adjustments to the pillars bricks later to blend in a little better. This doesn't have a normal map either yet. Still a work in progress. I need to add some metal beams to the underpass areas of the anchorage as well as some other things before I move on to texturing the tower. If you look at the previous screenshot you will see that I changed the pillars texture. I had found a really good close up shot of the real thing on google maps.

How are you planning to implement this, it looks like it will be huge even scaled down. Are you gonna make multiple parts so the bridge can have different lengths? Or will it become one giant sub-building?

I decided to only go with 2lane highways on each side of the bridge because they are smaller so I can scale it down. I plan on releasing a sub building version and then also individual pieces so people can decide if they want something easy and not difficult to mess around with or take things into their own hands and build it themselves at however long they want to make it. I tested it out already in one of my games and the scale actually looks pretty fine, I like it.

Wouldn't it be possible to create a set of Brooklyn Bridge-style pillars, some metal, some masonry, some arched, some individual, and only have the main span in one piece? It doesn't have to be a perfect 1-on-1 match with reality (not even sure if that's possible in combination with the custom road pillars mod, especially wall-style 'pillars' that stretch with the road instead of only being placed where road segments meet), but it would allow for maximum flexibility, especially in regard to ramp placement, steepness, length and curvature. Because the larger the whole construction gets, the harder it will be to place - the larger, the more specific the requirements concerning water width and and access ramp geography and space will be.

Lol, sorry, I have a tendency to be a bit impatient and think out loud when I get excited about all the goodness I see in the modding section (like the proverbial kid in a candy store ;) )
I'll just wait to see what you will come up with, no doubt in my mind it's going to be amazing!
