Cities: Skylines - Community Modding Requests
hitzu replied to Cyclone Boom's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
@Bad Peanut 1. That's exactly how I composed the request. 2. Look at my first answer. 3. Wow. Why do you defend so much anyone who gives advices no one was asking for? it's just plain rude, especially with that mentoring tone. 4. Point exactly on the place where I did ask for the help, please, before making wrong conclusions on the wrong assumptions. -

I use these mods. I perfectly know how they work and why they don't satisfy. Topo lines works for roads, but for rails its precision is not enough, and for elevated parts it works only if you temporarily reverts segments to the ground ones to see lines through the mesh. Precision Engineering isn't precise enough with the short stretches of paths, not saying that it doesn't work after placing segments when editing them. yes, they are much better than vanilla, but there's no limit for perfection. The problem was when @rovapasi1 didn't ask if I tried these modes in the first place. That's how normal conversation should've happened. One polite answer to him apparently hasn't worked. He insisted that I'm stupid enough not to check and try all the mods available. And now I'm the jerk. Great. -

Do you think I wasn't trying these mods in a first place before posting? I thought this thread is called "Modding request", but it seems the "Useless advice request" fits more. -

I understand that you're trying to help, but it doesn't work that way. The slope limiter mod makes more harm than good since building rough draft path and then fine-tuning it with the MoveIt! is a much better way to build, and the slope restrictor does work before you build, not after. I find those "help" answers hilarious. They produce so much unnecessary flood and off-topic. it's like when you're going shopping for the chair, ask a consultant for help and get a long story about why you actually don't need a chair, but a set of a sofa, 4 stools, a recliner with an auto-vibro-massage function, a small footrest and an ottoman for your dog. Look, I'm not demanding that mod to be done. It's just an idea for modders. if they find it useful - good; if not - not bad, I'll survive. -

It does work like this on a flat terrain only because PEM does show the height relative to the ground, not the horizon. -

I don't know if it would be essential or even a popular mod, but what I'm really missing in the game is to see how really steep road/rail slopes are. For realistic rails where slopes should fit in the range of a fraction of a degree to the horizon, it's really hard to make them smooth even with help of the MoveIt! and the Topographic Lines Toggle mods. I wonder if it's hard to make a mod for highlighting an angle of slopes just like the traffic heatmap overlay does? -
Not realistic enough! they should be parked on the grass.

Bad Peanut sometimes makes things: [RELEASED] Solar Freaking Highways
hitzu replied to Bad Peanut's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
I've seen somwhere (and unfortunately couldn't find anymore) a very similar freshly built station in a wide trench for commuter trains somewhere in Europe. It was like this one with full platform wide stairs and the ramp integrated like this There was also a shelter and an elevator connected with a nearby overpass. As far as I remember it was a part of the park and that's why it resembles a modern quay but with rails instead of the water -

If you don't mind requests I would really love to see something very simple as this on the right - simple wide stairs, an overpass and basic glass shelters. I know this one is unrealistic and not to scale with the train, yet it is very elegant and simple -
Enlarge your cooling tower up to 50 meters in just one week! Great job @Ronyx69!

So apparently they gave the pre-release version to letsplayers to review. Not my favourite letsplayer though- 147 Replies

@andreharv well if you want to combine tram/bike/road parking in different setups then probably 3-tile roads would be perfect for that. Also an idea: a road that consists of just one lane without shoulders to make custom intersections with help of decals and the asphalt mod.- 1,259 Replies
