I don't. The chimney is just a bit too tall. The rest is fine.

This is the corner view. Utter lack of any symmetry or design. The right side of the house is 4 feet larger than left, the pseudo-chimney is god awful and none of the windows line up. Like the guy just threw windows in he had from other places with no design whatso ever.

There indeed is a lack of windows on the second floor and the colour is awful, but I have seen lot worse buildings.

I don't like the Titanic Belfast Museums design

*picture*

I do like it. It's simple and modern. I think those white parts represent the iceberg and the glass part represents the ship.

That Petrobras HQ looks pleasingly futuristic to me. Perhaps it just doesn't suit its surrounding buildings?

I think they should have also made it a bit taller and that brownish top part is ugly.

Maybe not very ugly, but don't tell me you get very excited by the design.

Okay guys, I think I have a contender here. It's not located in a globally significant geographical area, but, the Fresno County Courthouse in downtown Fresno is a great example of horrific architecture.  The surrounding area being an agricultural mecca, the idea behind the design was that it resemble a chicken coop!  Are you kidding me! Beyond disgusting!

If you dare look:

Or, you have the other extreme where you have a giant indoor ferris wheel located in the middle of nowhere. This one comes from Turkmenistan, and while it's the largest of it's kind it has a very iffy design, to me at least.

Almost the entire structure is white with gold embellishments, and it's essentially a giant hockey puck. The base it sits on is not very detailed aside from that strip of stars running down the center. And the whole thing just looks out of place. Why wouldn't they put it in an area that's surrounded by other buildings around the same height?

LOL... nice one!

I agree it's ugly, but I kind of like the idea of comparing government bureaucrats to chickens...

EDIT:  They should have just stuck with the old court house...

A good picture of the old courthouse. Interestingly, the Wikipedia article for it lists a comment by an architectural historian likening the replacement of such by the current courthouse as being "insipid." LoL

Well, this was a fun thread.

I'd like to mention the Verizon Building in NYC. Frankly, it's lucky to be located where it is. Anywhere else in the world it would stand out as a hidious blot of ugliness built for the world to laugh at, but thankfully, lower Manhattan is a complete skyscraper jungle. Normally I'd post a picture, but posting pictures on the phone tends to be quite an ordeal, so if you want to, you can google it.

I actually used to once live in this high-rise:

The low-rise stuff around it is honestly not much better either lol.

Here's a new tower that's been proposed recently-

181%20fremont.png

Modern, sharp angles, rather run-of-the-mill compared to similar buildings in New York and Shanghai. And you'd expect this tower to appear in cities like those, right? Well here's the catch! It's slated to be built in San Francisco of all places! And this is where it's supposed to go along with another one of it's friends!

In Spain we have some stupidly ugly buildings too :(

intempo-benidorm--644x362.jpg

Residencial In Tempo, Benidorm: A awful building that was going to be the tallest residential building in Europe, but keeps 6 years unopened for several funding problems and crappy design.

hotel_cordoba_palacio.jpg?itok=d6ArbgM6

Hotel Córdoba Palacio: The fantastic location of this hotel would be perfect for seeing the beautiful city of Córdoba from your room's window... If there wasn't such a horrible facade...

That's actually positive. This way, looking at the city from the hotel is the only way of not having the hotel in your sights. They say the same about the Tour Montparnasse and Paris ;) .

Still not loving the Chinese embassy building in Berlin...

<so snip very wow>

Meh. Kind of reminds me of the Quality Hotel Arlanda at Eurostop, just outside Stockholm Arlanda airport. Main difference is the Chinese embassy has decently sized windows. This thing ust looks like a prison wing. Oh, and did I mention it's called Quality hotel? Quality hotel.

Quality_hotel_Eurostop_Arlandastad.jpg

What's even worse is this is practically located right in the middle of the forest. Nothing to see anywhere at all, except for the freeway right below. That is, of course, unless you're lucky enough to get a view of the parking lot, or even (you'll probably need a five star room for this, though) the roof of the mall below.

I decided that the proposed sky rail the Victorian State government is building to get rid of 9 level crossings between Caulfield-Dandenong deserves a mention.

Look how ugly it looks! Hope they don't build this & Daniel Andrews is booted from office.

Doesn't seem that ugly, but elevating rail to get rid of at grade crossings is always a good idea.

Residents near the line don't seem to like it at all. They're protesting against it saying they want it in a trench, while I don't want the crossings removed. Mainly because of the weatherboard buildings at Clayton, Murrumbeena, Carnegie Station. They'll have to be demolished! They're trying to get rid of 50 crossings in the metropolitan area (One of them is already gone, Burke Road. The tram line crossed the rail line there.) >:(

Insert Daniel Andrews face on the bad guy in the video.

All cities have one of those... I was recently in Milan and put an eye carefully looked for an old star of this thread: the Torre Velasca. It is even uglier when seen from the Duomo's roof.

Another known building, the National Library of Belarus, just stroke me with a curious resemblance...
