In Brazil the color of the highways asphalts are the same as the normal Cities Skylines texture so I think I like more the grey asphalt haha. But it still pretty ^-^. Waiting for the next part, very awesome interchange anyway.

Ln X: Yes, the roads do look better with US road textures + darker asphalt. Merge lanes would be great too!
-In Canada we typically use only 1 yellow line in urban areas (no passing lanes) instead of two. That would be the one thing I would like to see some day down the 'road'.

El Argentino: No accel/decel lanes (yet). One day they might come and when they do I will likely have to reconfigure all my exits. Glad you like the videos! I like showing how I do my thing.

    Mymyjp: Indeed they do. Thanks!

Carnivorus: Thanks! I do like to show my work. Ya it sucks at the lane use system right now but maybe there will be a patch to fix some traffic AI issues.

kingofsimcity: Thanks! What's LUT by the way???

    iviaarten: Hey, thanks a lot!

leofurquim8: Really? SC4 came back in 2003, so any half-decent PC should be able to run it. You need a 64 bit OS to run Skylines. Glad you like my work!

With that highway interchange complete I can start expanding my city! In this part I expand along the river and to the edges of these highways.

First 5 seconds are loud because I'm excited I guess :)

Good work! It looks really natural. But for unknown reason, I do not like the American Roads + New Asphalt color... It looks a bit false. I prefer the natural color that comes with American Roads.

Problem with the darker roads is it makes the entire city look like it's just been freshly paved.... which never happens in real life. So it looks nice but does sacrifice a bit of realism. I'd love to see new roads start dark and then bleach and wear as they age.

To you specialize an industry you have to click on the district botton(not the oil district one) and paint the area that you want. After that you click in that area with the oil district tool, and then the area will fill in with oil industry.

    Hope you understand haha

    And totally agree:

she's really filling up nicely. I agree with the above commenters though, those new textures make it all seem a bit too new/fresh for me.

City is getting better and better though, now that she's growing into your infrastructure a bit :D lovely work.

Of course, Haljackey, it's a mostly high-density city and of course, I'm going to upvote every single entry. I can't wait until your city reaches 100K, hopefully in the coming parts. Although it just makes me wonder just how this game would be much more amazing (and it's already quite amazing, especially in comparison to SC2013) if it had an RHW- and NWM-like mod (and with a 6-lane OWR... width wouldn't seem like such a big problem up to 12 lanes). Anyway, hope to see more from this journal, I'm loving it :D

Nice work. Nice how everything fits in so smoothly.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that a one-way slope in this new area? Always wondered if that would help me out too in some of my, let's call them 'projects' :D
Actually I do like the dark road texture. It's individual flair fits really good in your city.

Balthoraz: Thanks! Ya it looks 'almost' too good with the road mod I have. Many have argued that that this game simulates a utopia, so I guess freshly paved roads just add to that theme!

zakerunner: ...And what's wrong with that? ;) ...Oh yeah, the realism. I would like to see a road decay mod as well, especially if you decrease your road budget!

leofurquim8: Got that fixed in this part. You'll see!

iviaarten: Thanks! I kinda like the feel of the dark asphalt, but I agree its not for everyone.

henrys1996: I guess that's just my style eh? :D 2/3 of the way to 100k so I'm getting there!

Carnivorus: Thanks! Sorta. I use a variable height mod that helps make the slopes a little more realistic. This is the mod if interested: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413678178

I am now starting to think outside of the 'box', expanding my city out past my highway ring. I also get oil industry too!

That black asphalt is something special truly.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

Great progress as always. That is a meaty industrial area!

As for LUTs, it's what the game uses for color correction. I started on this same map and ditched the boreal one for tropical pretty quickly, but that's probably because I'm too used to that sunny California feel. :P

Hal, I remember you saying in a couple different vids that you wish you had some center barriers for your freeways. This guy has made one. Don't know how well it works because I haven't tried it yet myself but I thought you might be interesting in it. here's the link: http://steamcommunity.com//workshop/filedetails/?id=422905040

kingofsimcity: Cool, thanks! I might use LUT for another city but for this one I like the temperate feel.

zimmie: Ah, cool! I am actually referring to the fact that it can be hard to build both directions close together. That mod does seem to help a bit, but the call boxes sorta muzzle it a bit. Nice to see its being worked on!

leofurquim8: Like what? What would you like me to use?

In this part I start tackling my downtown area. I start zoning north of the highway, add a new bridge, and address some traffic issues.

I know I keep saying this but those roads are glorious. You picked just the right shade of dark grey! The downtown area looks promising, though I am sure it will look even better when it is surrounded by city blocks and suburbs. Also you must have a powerful computer to capture video ingame with such smoothness, so why not use the 25-tile mod to buy up all the tiles? That way you can expand the city in a more organic fashion.

It looks like a really amazing city. And big too. You don't have any problems with traffic jams in your high density arenas? I have struggled a lot with that myself and still hasn't found a proper solution for it.

Ln X: Well I am happy you are continuing to like my road system!  I do have the 25 tile mod, but you can't unlock all the tiles until you get 90k sims. I am getting close!
-I also have heard of a 81 tile mod, but there still a number of bugs with it.

TheX: Thanks! Big now? Just wait haha.
-I have some some traffic problems. Shown it several times in my video series. Click for full size.

MilitantRadical: Glad you think my pics are of competition quality! Between all the video work I do and trying to make reddit submissions and a CJ outa it, I feel like I would be overextending myself with the picture competition too.
-I haven't been there in a bit. Can Skylines pics compete with SC4 pics?

A bit of a different update this time. Rather than do a real-time entry/video I decided to make a SC4 UDI-like video of my road system. This is done using the first person camera mod. Call it a drive through if you want.

I originally uploaded this with audio but it got flagged for copyright in some countries. I received a ton of flak on my youtube comments. It's here if interested:

nice. to be honest i'm not patient enough to watch your hour-long gameplay videos, so this is a good way to actually see your city. i think it would be even better to occasionally mix up your manual "driving" with following a specific car (first person camera has this option).

max_13: Hey that's fine. This is a real-time video series so the footage is all there if you wanted to view it all. I like showing my work, and my video work seems to be well appreciated by the community.
-I'll follow a vehicle some time in the furture!

Nevermore2797: Thanks! I have absolutely no idea how I did that. The earlier playthrough was on a different Steam account. I do have 80k population and good city stats so maybe that contributed to it?

YUUU: If you think that's epic, just wait until I unlock all 25 tiles and start to go even more epic. ;)

Starting to look at the bigger picture now. In this part I deal with some traffic issues, add more density, put in my first subway and start thinking about what I'll do once I have 25 tiles unlocked.

Impressive. Sadly this update again shows the lack of traffic AI using free lanes :(
But very interesting to see other players way of adressing those issues.
