It's better, thank you! It's Huntsville, AL. I know because I was hesitating to put it as the next Guess in my previous post I thought it would be too challenging, so I picked Halifax instead. I'll pass this turn, so whoever wants to go next, feel free to do so 👍

Can you identify the high-rise and name its city from a Google Earth bird's-eye view screenshot? The goal of this game is to have fun sharing and guessing distinctive high-rise buildings that stand out in their cities' skylines using Google Earth. It's a bird's-eye-view challenge where players look for clues by observing: The building's architecture: Chicago School, Neo-Gothic, Art Deco, Brutalist, Postmodern, International Style, and more. The surrounding urban fabric: Rooftops, street patterns, and vernacular architecture that hint at the local climate, culture, and region. The landscape and topography: Mountains, coastlines, rivers, plains, and other geographical features visible on the horizon. Rules: The first player to correctly identify both the high-rise and its city earns the right to post the next challenge (or may choose to pass their turn). The featured high-rise must be a true building with at least 15 occupiable floors, such as an office, residential, hotel, or mixed-use tower. It should also be visually prominent within its city's skyline. Freestanding towers and non-building structures are not eligible. This includes broadcast and communications towers, church steeples, observation towers, landmarks (e.g. Eiffel Tower, Space Needle, CN Tower) and similar structures. Every challenge must include the continental region or country as an initial clue, along with the screenshot. While challenging guesses can be rewarding, try to choose buildings that are reasonably recognizable. A short high-rise in an obscure location, a small city or a lesser-known region of the world can become a needle in a very large haystack, causing the game to stall and making it less enjoyable for everyone. How to Play: Open Google Earth in your web browser or desktop client and navigate to the high-rise you want to feature. In View → Basemap Settings, select: Type: Satellite Details: Clean (no borders, labels, places, or roads) Pan, zoom, and tilt the camera until the building is centered in a bird's-eye perspective (example here) that clearly shows: the entire building, its surrounding neighborhood, and the horizon where the land meets the sky. Capture a screenshot as a .jpg using Google Earth's Create Image tool or your preferred screenshot application (Greenshot, Snipping Tool, etc.). Post the screenshot together with the continental region or country as the starting clue. You're also welcome to include additional hints or interesting facts about the building or its city to make the challenge even more engaging. Example and First Guess Post: Somewhere in North America:

Hello @Bendinerd00 If possible, may I suggest you take your satellite screenshot from Google Earth with Greenshot? The resolution would be significantly better and would allow players to identify landmarks and other clues, which isn't easy when the image quality is too blurry. Let me know if you need additional guidance; and thank you for playing!

This next city isn't large, but it has a metropolitan population >100k making it eligible as a guess in the game. It's world-famous thanks to its very recognizable landmark:

Punta Arena, Chile: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GdXW8V3MWExtsqrA8 The first clue for me was the grid, which is typical of many South American countries. The terrain suggested a colder climate, leading me to the southern tip of the continent, and the coastal orientation was the final piece of the puzzle.

You got it! Deltona is a planned development community that sprang up between DeLand and Daytona (which is how it got its name). As one of Orlando's primary bedroom communities, within a straightshot to the city via I-4, Deltona eventually outgrew itself to become the largest city in its county. Yet it still lacks a true downtown, the infrastructure, and the commercial activity one would expect from a city of its size. Your turn!

The next city is a bit of an oddity. It is the largest and most populous city in its county, and with 100k residents, its the second most populous city in its CSA. Yet it remains a complete suburban underdog, thoroughly overshadowed by two significantly smaller cities in the same county:

This would be Duluth, MN, USA: https://maps.app.goo.gl/7pGHvJnW5jy1obFN6 To me, this place has the ideal layout of a tropical coastal city: a long, narrow sandbar, beautiful beaches, and tranquil lagoons, but set in a cold climate. At the height of summer, I’d bet this place has nothing to envy of Florida.

It's Durban, in South Africa. Here is the next guess. Fun fact, the airport on the satellite image is the 3rd-busiest airport in the country where this city is located by passenger traffic.
