Thanks jesper! It's called "high interest tower", I believe it's a standard building in the unique buildings menu.

I've been doing quite some work today, and I finally feel I can post in this topic :)

It's still not highrises, but we've finally got a skyline:

Potentially dumb question:  How do you hide the "zots" for pictures like these?  I usually can't find a vantage point where there isn't something popping up somewhere.

At the bottom right corner there's a camera icon. It removes all UI elements.

My (current) downtown isn't as big as the other downtowns in this thread, but it's still a downtown.

Somehow I knew that...thanks!

Mine's not much of a downtown either, nor is it a CBD as it's mostly a residential area.  A newer area of the city, no less, so it isn't even really central, but I think it looks kind of neat.  Actually, it really reminds me of Syracuse, NY's skyline.

You guys are all amazing. Aable, your 1st and 2nd pics are just great! Love how the core of the town builds up to those three tall buildings. Bravo!

The custom building mods are starting to make skylines look impressive!! Also don't forget - you can rescale any of the assets yourself if you don't like the original size. I made two imports 80% of the original size to better fit my city.

Downtown Annabelle. Major banking and finance center in the US Midwest. Urban sprawl has been rampant the last couple of years.

Even though the city attracts alot of young proffesionals, crime has been on the steady rise for almost a decade now - especially the cocaine trade has found ground here - leading Annabelle to be named the "Cocaine capital of the flats" among the younger population.

My city's CBD from the outer suburbs. Tried a new LUT this time.

A little closer. It's mainly a nasty industrial city.

Looks great. I tried messing with this, but my rescaled buildings have the problem of getting messed up when you zoom out. Do you know of a way to fix that?

Welcome to Ashihabara. I used a combination of free-camera and the isometric camera mod. The textures look terrible because the isometric camera changes the LOD from normal. Even though my settings are maxed.

Still developing the other side of the river. I have a lot of sprawl to the bottom, left and right off-camera.BCmqHzj.jpg

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

The only building I haven't had a problem with so far is One Plaza. The author fixed LOD for that building, and it looks as it should from far away too. So Unless the author includes LODs, all of them end up looking messed up from further out, rescaled or not, as the game engine doesn't go a great job by itself. There needs to be some kind of PSA because it seems like almost every building I download I had this problem. Some aren't as bad as others.

Hmm I tried it again and it works great. For some reason I thought the LODs weren't transferring to my rescaled buildings but maybe they didn't have LODs in the first place. This is a very cool feature for those of us who don't otherwise get into modding very much. I shrunk my whole downtown skyline by about 15% so that it's not quite so out of line with the zoned buildings. I just hope people don't take advantage of the asset editor by ripping off other people's work.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does CBD mean?

Central business district.

I am more or less bored with 95 % of the pics posted on the reddit. Luckily i can just travel in here and see how realistic you guys can make things look!

Especially yours Evil Weasel. Your picture looks like a 1960 photo looking at downtown Detroit from midtown.

A concept I was playing with in the mountains. Difficult to get plopping right as the terrain is tricky to work with, but the tiering I'm quite happy with :)

Very nice work with that mountainside city!

Level 3 offices are a pain to get. But I got exactly what I wanted: Gula's new SunTrust Building :D. I swear something is always on fire in the background...

EDIT: just installed the new SSAO and sun shafts mod. Actually looks really nice!
