  1. I liked the old design, really not happy with this one. It would be fine as part of the Hudson Yards but it just looks too chunky and not elegant enough for the site. I work downtown and I actually like 1 WTC, I fear this won't fit in.
  2. Awesome. One of my favorite buildings. Great work.
  3. Yeah honestly basing this whole discussion on whether or not we'll all still be playing C:S in ten years is a bit silly. If either CO or EA (obviously not likely at this point) or a 3rd or 4th party has not made an even better city building game by then it will be a major disappointment. And yes, I think C:S2 is without a doubt already in the works, especially considering Skylines has been a huge commercial success. Let's hope it's even bigger and better.
  4. Game keeps crashing on quit

I think this has been a known bug since day one for virtually everyone. Who knows why they haven't been able to fix it yet.
  5. Tourism

Most people consider tourism to be more or less broken right now. No matter what you do you won't get more than a few hundred tourists in your city and you'll never turn a profit from tourist income. Hopefully they will fix it.
  6. How do I raise crime rate?

I made a new city, with everything unlocked and unlimited money. Zone high density everything and put windmills in your residential areas for the noise pollution and put your sewage upstream from water intake. After you have a decent size population, delete industrial areas so people don't have jobs. The trick is now to keep your population from going so low that your crime rate goes back down, but it should easily go past 50% once everyone is sick/unemployed. It's very hard achieve this in an existing, functioning city just by deleting police stations.
  7. Love the Beekman! It's always reminded me of one of those medium density vanilla condos.
  8. I understand why so many people (way more than just the Cities Skylines community) are freaking out about this today. I definitely don't think it's a good road to head down. The hypothetical situation of someone borrowing elements from one mod and then selling it as part of another mod has already happened in Skyrim apparently. However - and I'm not a modder so this probably won't affect me - I don't think the 75% thing is what we should be getting hung up on. Sure it would be nice for the modders to get more, but do you how much of a cut musicians get to keep when they sell their music? Artists in galleries? This is not unusual, of course the creator of the games and the distribution stystem is going to want a huge cut. Unfortunately the talented peopIe get screwed. I'm not suprised by the business model, I just wish it wasn't happening at all.
  9. What's with the negative fanboy attitude here and in the other thread? I'm all for a lively debate about the merits of C:S vs SimCity but this is just petty and stupid. We're not talking about religion or politics, there's no reason people can't enjoy both franchises.
  10. These are all great points. Discussion has definitely died down from the fever pitch that it was around the game's release. If it wasn't for the modding community, I would definitely feel like I have seen everything there is to see, and I've been against the monuments and the 15 minute resource depletion from the beginning too. The biggest game breaker for a citybuilder for me is everything looking the same, but thankfully the modding community has already given us a lot to work with. I think the best thing that happened to this game was is has sold beyond CO's wildest dreams and so they've promised to keep improving it. Probably the majority of those first 1 million customers aren't hardcore citybuilding fans who may never play much more after getting their $30 worth, but there are plenty of us who will keep playing for years if they keep improving it. And it does need improving.
  11. I don't think there is anything at all unusual about the average player number dropping over time. Believe it or not, the average customer probably buys the game, plays it for a few days, then goes and plays something else for a while before coming back to it. That doesn't mean anyone is disappointed or anything is 'screwed up'. I've been playing less in the past few weeks than I was in March just because last month I was playing like it was my full time job and I can't afford to do that all the time. Seems like natural regression to me. If it was a multiplayer game then I think those charts might be worth paying attention to because you want to have a consistent base of players online. For a single player game it doesn't matter one bit, people play at their own pace.
  12. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for me. I have that building in my city and I can't say I've ever noticed that the top is slightly messed up. The sides look good. In normal play you never see the LOD that close up. edit: Not trying to be obtuse here, I don't do any modelling myself so I don't have an eye for it as much as you do. I'm not saying that they're aren't garbage models in the workshop, just that I use a lot of the ones in your example with no problems.
  13. I don't see any real tragedies there other than image #2 (GULA's suntrust?) and the last image. The vanilla buildings look just as horrible from that view, I don't know what we're supposed to expect from an LOD. The rest of them more or less have the correct geometry and no major shift in colors. The textures are obviously a bit damaged but when you are zoomed out this is only a problem if it is an area of high contrast. The very small buildings like the Starbucks and In N Out especially don't bother me. I must have dozens of that white quarter-round office by Ozo in my city and I've never noticed the texture glitch on the side. Generally I do unsubscribe from buildings when they are totally missing a custom LOD.
