  1. 5. A beautiful bay. (Plus lots of bonus images)

I am a bit of an enthusiast in RL. Use a Nikon D7100 with a 50mm mostly. Thanks for your comment! :D
  2. 5. A beautiful bay. (Plus lots of bonus images)

Hi all, As promised I have included the images of the new high wealth bay area. I've also spammed a load of skyline and detailed pictures as some eye candy. I'm really sorry I didn't have time to comment next to each picture but I'm rushed with deadlines for work. (Just taken a quick 30 minute break from spreadsheets to get this pup). I hope you enjoy The bay area in all its glory. Birds eye of the bay. Hope you enjoy. O.
  3.   I'm using a colour corrector. You can find it here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=403440351   Thanks guys!
  4. Admiralteyskiy II - Saint Isaac's Square

This is brilliant! Best SC4 I have seen for realism.
  5. 3. A metropolis is in sight... (Lots of pictures).

Thanks guys  - new updates up now!
  6. Hello all! Sorry for the quietness over the weekend, I was busy drinking. I've tweaked the entrance to the city added new flyovers, a bypass leading to the CBD and then refined some of the skyline to make it look a little more smooth. See the pictures below. I've added in the views of the city as you drive along the highway! View of the city from the highway as your approach the main entrance. View through the train aqueduct. Another view further back of the entrance between the peaks. Birdseye view. Reworked much of the clip ramps to ease traffic flow. No issues at all now. A slip ramp further down the highway. Re-worked slip ramps leading to the tiered CBD. View from the furthest east end of the CBD up towards the mountain paths leading to the observatory. View of the new bypass overlooking the midrise Commercial and Residential zones... New bypasses linking zones to ease traffic. A view of the entrance ramps, between the mountain. The roundabout providing access to the city. Just another close up of the new ramps. 2 views of the city as you enter down the ramp (I'm on left hand drive as I'm British!) The turbine farm from the highway. A panoramic of the CBD and residential zones from the highway overpass. Another of the turbine farm. A sneak preview of what is soon to become an exclusive high wealth residential gated community. Reverse angle view of the city skyline from the highway overpass. Hope you enjoy this update. The next one will be of the little details in and around the CBD that I'm adding at the moment (sunken plazas and pedestrian routes) and the gated community I'm building around that gorgeous mini reservoir. O.
  7. 3. A metropolis is in sight... (Lots of pictures).

Reworking the entire entrance now as it was getting very congested. Will show you the outcome in the next update. Thanks for the comments!
  8. 3. A metropolis is in sight... (Lots of pictures).

So put a lot of hours into this now (17 in all). Really happy with the outcomes. Population is 40k and we have all the sims needs met. Education is as level 1.6, hopefully we'll speed to 3 now all the universities are in place. It's been really difficult to build in blocks as the terrain simply doesn't allow it so I've been using sprawling suburbs a lot to fill space which is otherwise difficult to use and used the flatter terrain for my CBD areas, but as you can see even this are quite tiered. I'm using the highway ramps a lot to ease traffic as if you get the angle right it doesn't require a traffic light of the avenues meaning continuous flow (a little tip there...) Please comment and let me know what you think, be critical. A nice panoramic. Looking out at the endless sprawl. A look out towards the business parks. A view across the creek of the CBD. Water pumps by the bridge. In the heart of the CBD. The main road in the CBD. Another angle of the panoramic. The observatory at the top of the map. Birds eye view of downtown. Birds eye view of suburbia and the central town (not CBD) separated by the ridge running through the middle of the map. The only place to connect the two was the crammed interchange at the right of the picture. Looking towards the turbines. Really happy with the tiering of these mid-rises. Fire!! Another suburban community. More panoramic. (bonus image) aha, doesn't show much but you can see the tiering in the back ground. Hope you enjoy this update. O.
  9. 2. A Hamlet is Born.

So here we are with the first residents moving in. We have a sprawling suburban area flowing to the bay and a nice small timber outpost sitting by the highway far above the residential zones. You can see the starting elements of the tiering taking shape. A close look at the detail of the tiers. More tiering. The forestry commission. I really enjoy the spiral effect the dirt road has along side the tiering, it gives a really good aesthetic I feel. A nice view to the mountaintop turbines. Let me know what you think! O.
  10. 1. The Beginning.

Its the Twin Peaks map from the workshop, I however have made the terrain a little more choppy to get a better effect when the street tier into the cliffside as the original was a little too smooth for what I was trying to achieve.   You can find the map here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=406785246&searchtext=
  11. 1. The Beginning.

Hello all! This is going to be my first "proper" city journal. A long time fan of SC4 I'm very used to the old City Builder but this will be my first public sharing of the journey. The plan is to build a unique mountainous city across rough terrain with pockets of sprawling suburbia up the mountain side and large dense CBD areas. The map I will be using can be seen below. The city is aptly named: A Different Angle. I hope you enjoy and please openly criticise I value constructive feedback! O.
  12. Show us your Downtown/CBD

A concept I was playing with in the mountains. Difficult to get plopping right as the terrain is tricky to work with, but the tiering I'm quite happy with
  13. Playing with an Intel(R) HD Graphics

It doesn't work that way. Can't use two GPUs at the same time like that; they trade off for performance vs. power saving. Unless that whole post is sarcasm against Apple. For everyone experiencing some success with integrated graphics, don't get your hopes up until you've built a huge city. Running an empty game versus one with thousands of simulated agents makes a huge difference. See above post for my specs... I'm currently on 8 tiles and a population of circa 300k. Still running perfectly fine. Will keep you updated.
  14. Playing with an Intel(R) HD Graphics

I'm running it on a MacBook w/ Retina with the following specs. 2.6 GHz i5 processor 8GB Ram Intel Iris 1536 MB Integrated Graphics. I'm running the game on all medium settings and it runs smoothly, it sometimes stalls when plopping roads but thats all. When I run it on low settings it never glitches at all. I usually run it on low settings when building and when exploring/snapshotting I use medium. The difference between High/Low graphics isn't as bad as I thought it would be, it's not too significant of a change IMO. Hope this is helpful. O.
