Hi there.
I'm building a 8C RHW, and I've tried to build a bridge over water with it.
After several tries, I have manage to create a bridge, but it connects like shi* !!
How can i solve this please.
Help is very very very much appreciated :)

In the meantime, try these:

  • Flatten the bridge approach embankment, right now it looks quite steep. Use the likes of road, avenue, MHW or El-Rail, depending on your slope mod settings, to get this transition to be smoother.
  • Use the filler pieces for ground-level RHW-8S where the network reverts to RHW-2 stubs. They should fit in the layout, but they won't place effectively unless the terrain is smoothed out.

Done as you explained.

SC4 was clearly meant to be greatly abstracted like previous games, the fact the base game only has cloverleaf, diamond and side interchanges is more evidence. The bridges were likely that combined with consistency, given that the slopes are *technically* hardcoded...

Hi,

I'm still one of those maxis highway users. Since recent NAM-installation, the STR-Elevated highway crossing doesn't show. I think I had this problem also with the NAM39 version, but not with NAM 36 and older.

For NAM41 installation I selected all railway options except Hybrid Railway and  High Speed Rail Project, and of course all maxis highway options.

Is there a fix to this?

Thanks for letting us know about it. I don't know if there is a simple fix for it, but I assume it will be addressed and fixed for NAM 42.

    @City_Slider

If you mean is it Simgoober's canal set, then yes, that's the download for the canals. There's also a CAL version, but they will have 'CAL' in the name.

Not sure what the 'CAM' reference means. Are you looking for Simgoober's items for the CAM

(Also, are you looking for information abut this related to the NAM since this is the topic for it?)

City Slider likely thought that the Canal Addon Mod is abbreviated to CAM. Because the abbreviation "CAM" is already taken by another mod, the Canal Addon Mod is abbreviated to CAN-AM.

The issue stems from the file architecture changes we had to make to undo the rat's nest that was NAM 36.  Back then, we had two different specs of Maxis Highway (original Maxis vs.  MHO), two different specs of Rail (Maxis vs. RRW), two different specs of Monorail (Maxis vs. Bullet Train Mod), and two different specs of Elevated Rail (Maxis vs. Alternate).  They never fully played nice with one another, with all the possible combinations of those choices that were possible, and the whole mess eventually broke our installer.

In order to solve the issue, we had to drastically simplify the file architecture of the NAM, as part of the NAM 37 development cycle, such that we could switch to a non-broken installer and prevent it from becoming similarly broken.  That required us to cut all the number of options available in the NAM proper down to having only a single one network with two different specs (Maxis Highways), remove the textures and models for any crossing involving Rail and/or Maxis Highways, and put them into their own crosslink file.  Situations with Rail and Maxis Highways were particularly difficult, and it appears that in all that file wrangling, STR crossings with the original Maxis Highways ended up getting missed, and somehow didn't get caught until now.

I've just located the Maxis Highway x STR models and paths, and added them into the MHW crosslinks file.  You can download a new version of the file here.  Simply replace the copy of NetworkAddonMod_MaxisHighway_Crosslinks.dat  in Plugins\Network Addon Mod\Maxis Highways\Default Style\Base Features with this one.

@youngwii Good point...  @City_Slider In which case, there are two options in the NAM installation for the Can-AM transit pieces - one with Simgoober's water pieces and the other with CAL's water (selected by default). Both options only provide the transit pieces. The corresponding sets that provide the canal walls and related components would need to be gotten separately. Simgoober's set is the BSC Canals - Base Set.

It's not really related to NAM, though, but you can try Diggis CAN-AM Multiple Canals Mod. Though the NAM side of the CAN-AM with the overpasses and underpasses can be either one or the other if you want to use the functional (boats and ferries) side of it.

Hello NAM experts, I'm trying to do a simple 7.5m rail trench.  The 7.5 EAVE puzzle pieces work great but I cannot seem to get the 7.5m ERD road over rail puzzle piece to work...it won't let me plop on top of any rail in the trench, on flat ground etc.

Any suggestions on how to fix?  Thanks so much!!

That looks like the wrong piece; that one goes over double diagonal rail. Check for one where there is just straight rail underneath.

I'll also note, since NAM 32, it's been possible to do that using the Draggable Road Viaducts and FLEX OnSlope Transitions (FLEX-OSTs).  Simply lay the FLEX-OSTs on either side, drag Road into the non-elevated end of both of the FLEX-OSTs, and the gap between them should be automatically filled with a Road overcrossing of the Rail.

    nam-06082021-1.jpg

The draggable/FLEX system is a lot easier to use than the old puzzle pieces, and covers more functionality (i.e. NWM and RHW crossings) without having to constantly TAB through to look for the right piece.  The 7.5m versions, at least, got a huge upgrade back with NAM 38.  The old puzzle pieces are only still there for legacy support purposes (and for a few hardcore old-school puzzle users out there, who would refuse to upgrade if we got rid of them), so they're not recommended for general use anymore.

Hmm, I tabbed through multiple times and couldn’t find any puzzle pieces other than that one.  The 15m road and 7.5 avenue puzzle pieces look identical and work, just not the 7.5m road for some reason

If you want to see it in action, I made a video tutorial of how to use it with the RHW on-slope transitions. The same method can be applied to the FLEX OnSlope Transitions FLEX-OSTs) as well.

    Hi all,

I've been experiencing this bug with the 8S / D1 ramp. Is there an easy fix? I have been getting around it with puzzle pieces but it's not exact.

Additionally, I am running NAM 40 so you may have already fixed it.

    Thanks in advance!

That looks like you didn't give it enough space for stability. Try making the ramp start onw or two tiles apart from the height transition

That looks like a piece of one of the Inside ramps that's poking through there.  I haven't been able to replicate it here on my end with my current working build (basically, an in-progress development build of NAM 42), though I did encounter some different weirdness with the adjacencies with the Type E1 ramp, if one initiated the override from the "bottom" of the mainline part of the ramp (the narrower network).  RHW-8S D1/E1 ramps are tricky, because the lane drop also results in a tile drop (the RHW-6S that comes out the bottom has half the grid footprint of the 8S).

Hi, I just downloaded NAM and when I try to install it I get this error :

    What do ?
    Thanks.

Edit : You are supposed to install the mod by executing NetworkAddonMod_Setup_Version41.bat but if it doesn't work, you can still manually execute NetworkAddonMod_Setup_Version41.jar and some other file for the 4gb patch
