Seems those tourist parks we saw screenshots of recently now have some official word on them.  You will get them free when you buy some dental hygein products!  Thats a strange one.  But hey, everyone needs toothbrushes, I will pay for a toothbrush I need anyway to get some DLC.  So no complaints from me, but i am sure some people will find something to complain about as always.

Just...weird.    If I get free DLC from stuff I buy every day (or so often), I guess there is no need to complain.

There is something to complain about - If they don't fix the (bug?) issue, where you cannot take over an abandoned city, if you don't own the dlc used to build it. It just fragments the player base.

I really dislike these kinds of promotions where you have to live in the right country and buy the right products to get a digital item.

On the other hand, Crest/Oral B probably paid the full development cost needed to make these, so without their sponsorship these items wouldn't exist at all. But that doesn't make it less frustrating and if we're going to get sponsored items anyway, I'd rather have the Nissan type of advertisement.

Thats a pretty reasonable take on it.  It didnt jump out on me that it was US only when I posted the link (if I was non US I probably would have noticed that tidbit right away).  Like you said, Crest probably paid for it, so its their right to make it US only, but still kind of lame for non US folks.  Which is odd, because Crest is made by a company that has precense it nearly every nation in the world, they could give it to everyone, but maybe they didnt think the other markets were worth the effort?

If the promotions last long enough, I will probably end up with some extra codes, which I will gladly give away to non americans, but I wonder if Orgin/SimCity will actually block games registered outside the US to even redeem a valid code?  THAT would be lame, since the code does represent a purchase and paid for product, Crest got their sale, why should they care how its redeemed?  Lets hope that isnt the case and some of us americans can give out some codes to our international Simtropolis pals.

Lolz.  When I explain why I bought Crest/Oral B instead of our usual my wife's eyes are going to roll so far back into her head I may never see them again.  But hey, at least I can use the stuff instead of buying it for the code and then tossing it.

So instead of working more on bug fixes and updates for their faulty game , EA decides to start recruiting their endless DLC army.

    Oh, goodie.

Is the Attractions Set available worldwide?

This is only available to players in the United States.

Although I hate DLC, and so does everybody else; this is a bit more convenient then paying $5 for a pack like that. At least it's for an everyday item.

Nothing in that pack is appealing to me in the least. Seriously, people will actually buy this crap?

    Some details ...

The section of this publication - SIMCITY ATTRACTIONS SET FAQ

In the case of The Sims Social those hoping to take advantage of this promotion  will soon run to buy tubes of toothpaste since the game ends in June.

These DLC's  advertisements kind has every way to have been closed before the recent events  and now probably should be some difficulty to close others.

This is one of the most disgusting business tactics I think I've ever seen.  Force you to buy other products to get in-game content?  Disgusting.  The corporations will be running the world in a matter of months.

I think I might just boycott EA from now on.

    they are pimping their customers

    for a buck!

    ROFL!!!

Guess what, it's actually a free DLC.  Buying the product is not required, all you have to do is mail in a letter asking for the free DLC, it's that simple.

The day this game came out we already know this was going to happen.

EA = FAIL and nothing else.

You know what is the best of this stupid promotion? They claim about the supermultiplayerstuff, but you can't play others cities if you don't have exactly the same DLC/content, what does it mean? It means that when someone leave a city abandoned in your region the most probably thing is that this city will never be "operational" again: they will release many DLC and nobody will be able to take those cities because noone will have the exact DLC convination to retake it, your region will have ghost city and you won't be able to do nothing with it.

And this game is a "revolutionary" multiplayer design...

This DLC really penalizes those who take care their of teeth and only get through two toothbrushes a year. <sniff>

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Now that would be a terrible loss... better not even think about it. All Hail Crest/Oral B!

A general reminder to keep things constructive and on-topic.

Lets not bring political views into this (comments removed). After all, it's meant to be a discussion about SimCity DLC.

    Thanks :)

Instead of the Maxis Dev team spending time on creating this new content (same as the Nissan Leaf stuff), shouldn't they be focussing on fixing the basic gameplay issues first?
