Separate Industry from Res, Comm...
MayorQuimbie replied to mr_sim's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Freight trucks WILL spam your RC city. The consequence of this...... Heavy region traffic. You can reduce traffic in your city by plopping a trade depot but this does nothing for freight trucks in the reigion The trucks will still commute to your city and drop off freight. Im not sure if region cities will deliver freight to a trade port or not..... -
Specialization problems.
MayorQuimbie replied to MoridinUK's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Id love the economics side of SimCity to play a larger role, let me see EXACTLY what im spending. I know you can work it out but I just want to see more charts n graphs, after all, EA do push the whole "global market" thing... why not back it up with some substance. -
Id go a bit further than casting serious doubt ....

Odd bit about the water park...
MayorQuimbie replied to Rufus Honker IV's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I think the majority of the parks in this game look poor, I always find myself using the nature parks just because they blend in more. -
Upcoming Patches and Updates: What Do You Want To See? (UPDATE 8 RELEASED, OUTDATED!)
MayorQuimbie replied to CapTon's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Bit of a silly poll as its not really a very good question. It would have made more sense to ask what was most needed in update 8 -
New Expansion Pack in November - Cities of Tomorrow
MayorQuimbie replied to macscfan's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Its obvious EA have a very specific plan with regards to releasing DLC, I dont think think ANYTHING will get in the way of that. Not even the negative press the game is still getting. Id be quite happy to see what content is made available but I think ill be more interested in the price. Anything abouve £29 will put me straight off. With regards to bigger maps, modding ect. I can't see EA giving us anything significant. Massive game improvements will always be kept for future releases and Im pretty sure EA have a planned life cycle for this game. -
Frustration with preset roads on Transportation and placing stops/stations
MayorQuimbie replied to Rufus Honker IV's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The preset roads, if nothing else, are just plain ugly. I hate the way it creates junctions, even when connecting with high density streets. Also stations would be so much easier to plop if you could connect to a road when plopping, having to guess where I run the train tracks can be a little annoying. -
Road Layout First or Last?
MayorQuimbie replied to SAGGG's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I plan most of my road layout using dirt tracks and upgrade as required. You just have to remeber where you are planning to put your highways..otherwise it could be costly.... -

600k RCI City: No Traffic, No Homeless
MayorQuimbie replied to kgpurrs's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
To me its because you have a sudden forest of tall buildings and then nothingness until the next city. There are no suburbs or small towns in between. Big cities in SC 2013 just look strange because there's no way to make them look organic. Maybe thats it.... Must admit.... like someone posted above.... the street level views can be cool, especially with the filter tool on. -
I just always build a trade depot anyway... and more recently... ive been building one close to my city enterance... This seems to deal with the tide of freight trucks I get coming into my city every now and then.

Consumer Electronics Factory will not Tech up! Any help?
MayorQuimbie replied to Bryan9129's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Tech level takes a while to increase.... there isnt any need to have two universities. You can see on the picture that your tech level is non existent. The electronics factory doesnt tech up as you put it.. if the workers are educated the factory will run more efficiently.... Check your education screen..... -
Is this game worth buying?
MayorQuimbie replied to Hybr1d's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Bigger maps would be nice... for me personally, alowing me to build the cities I want.... But you just know what will happen, can you imagine playing public region games. EVERY city will be TV specialised, EVERY city will have a university, Every city will have a few tourist hotspots, EVERY city.................... you get the point. The majority of people will just want to cram everything into one city, its how the more casual gamer will play. Would be nice to have larger cities in my own private regions though.... not just for the space... higways just look out of place on the current maps.... Id like the ability to change the city highway junction to..... it just looks perculiar attatched to my suburban dirt track road...... -
Is it possible to make cash of selling commodities?
MayorQuimbie replied to infoman96's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
So two weeks later you have sold your ally purchased for 36K / ton @ 48K /ton... so you had 775k worth of alloy that you have now sold for $1,033,075..... hope you havent been actually say at your computer waiting for that great investment to pay off.... your ports alone must have been costing you $2-3000 / hour The point is its a game, and although a nice concept in a very basic form, there are considerably easier more efficient ways to make money -
Is it possible to make cash of selling commodities?
MayorQuimbie replied to infoman96's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
All depends on market volatility, currently I have four trade deports and one trade port. Some resources that I'm saving up on arent going to make me cash, while others will. Alloy for example is still at 35,581 which is only 1,500 more than what I purchased mine for, but the market may swing it up to 50k or 60k which will be great profit from all the ally I have. Essentially what I'm stating is for people who are like me that are cash hoarders, the option of investing in materials is a great alternative. Realistically speaking, if I didn't purchase all of the materials I have now, I would have about 1,000,000 in my treasury but now I have exactly 224,419. I guess because I'm a real life investor, this is a bit easier to me. I check my portfolio a few times a day, so checking when to buy and when not to buy is a bit easier for me in comparison to someone who doesn't invest much. I just purchased 2,000 units of processors for 180k all together, so this could lose a profit. But if it swings up to more than that, I'll be doing great. I def plan on purchasing a lot more processors if the price drops to about 30k. Its just a game you know, I think your thinking a little to deeply about it. You do know with just two smelting factories you could probably hit £500k - £1m profit per in game day/month... Buy low sell high isnt a hard concept to grasp.
