Last night I couldn't find a movie I cared about, so I made this. It's a simple 1x2 building--nothing special. I call it Guido's Small Engine Repair.

I hope Guido is still making hot dogs too

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

(Harry Lime to Holly Martins...Graham Greene's THE THIRD MAN...1949)

Do you think the color is good?

As always your trees are superb, but since you asked, I would have seen the foliage more yellow, slightly, and the trunk a little lighter, but at the same time as it ages it becomes dark gray!

What is good when you have nothing to say is that you can always pretend to listen. Anyway it does not prevent to think!

I agree with Hugues. Nevertheless, and leaving aside screen calibration, color profiles, SC4 graphic limitations..., plants in nature have a wide variation. The same species in a dry climate is going to look quite different to those individuals growing in a wetter climate. Damn, there is usually a huge variation between trees growing in both sides of the same valley.

So, don't be too picky about it. Your trees are great anyway.

Do you think the color is good?

I think the color is good -- a brighter green than most trees in the game.

But I tend to look at trees as an "ensemble cast".  I think about how they will look as an individual "centerpiece" to a scene -- AND -- how they will look when blended into forested areas.  A significant contrast in color can make a tall, bright green tree stand out from the rest, and even give the impression of height variations within a forest.  Most trees in Sc4 tend to be dark green, pretty much all look alike, and have very little variation in height.  They all just blend into a solid mass of dull green.  A bright green tree will give the appearance of being taller, giving the forest canopy some "height".

But I like your tree......

I've made a new 4 way junction with rails nearby

    Odin-Jan._31_121707282803.png?ex=65d5869

But not entirely happy with it due to the big gap space in the SW quadrant. Some ideas to adjust include

    Odin-Jan._31_121707282803.png?ex=65d60c6

    And

Why not add some sort of resting spot there? you have plenty of elevated highways, you can probably run a few streets under those

I have made hundreds of interchanges and this is probably the most elevated of all of them. I wanted to give myself a challenge with the rails nearby to make something unique.

I may run some roads below where possible but since most of that space is for transitions between levels, junctions or curves, you cant run networks below most of those. Probably going to be greenspace or a pond.

and the use of an old program like Gmax doesn't help a lot

It's a piss poor worker who blames their tools. At least that's what my old man used to say. The Sphynx, Vatican, Great Wall of China, the Pyramids were all built with hand tools. Whereas today, we have computers, precision tools and equipment, etc. and all we can make is The Marvels.
